tudents are stressed about school because of grades and kids don’t need that when they are kids.First,Students have no time to be relaxed but if they just had one more day then there would not be any stress about school.Second, students have a hard time with everything in school and if they are behind they it just more stress for them and having no time to be kids.Last,It is no fair that school takes up most of kids life and one more day could help with having fun with life and no days. If kids just had one more day to be kids then it would get students head out of school.
First of all,According to the text a lot of kids are inside doing school work barley any kids are outside playing sports and that shows what school does to kids.when kids do than kids don’t go outside they are inside checking grades and being stressed about grades and the days over.Scoundent,Parents don’t realize that it is hard nowadays and if their kid ask for help parents say school did not show me this when i was young and students have no help at home. Finally,Kids don’t have that much help when they are home and when they go to school without the home work done then that does not help their grades.
Mondays are days that kids just wanted another day with no school.
Advancements in technology have strived to make life easier for so many people. In most cases, the advancements have achieved its goal, but in the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Nicholas Carr questions if the improvements in society have unintentionally hindered our thought process overall. Carr begins the article by providing personal instances when his concentration seemed to diminish due to the internet. He explains how he now loses interest when reading lengthy portions, his mind just can’t seem to remain connected to his readings. He then proceeds to talk about how today’s life is surrounded by the internet, and explains the pros and cons of it. The negative side of it is that his mind now wonders off when seeking information from
One point is community can have a great impact on a child education. A child might have a hard time focus in school because his or her living. For example, Elizabeth Dozer, Principal at Christian Fenger High School, states she made an assumption that the problem in school was “bad principals” or “bad teacher”; however, the fact was the problem can be outside the school in the neighborhood (5). Another example Dozier suggests, the problem with student’s education is not their academic learning ability but what reflect at home (7).Problem and stress in a child life has a major factor for a child ability to learn in school. For a child to build a
Just the existence of an extra free day allows students to get more homework done and have more time. For example, if you have a project that takes at least three days to complete, and you were absent one day, this will give you extended time to finish your project. My next point coincides with my first one; that having an extra day without school “stretches” work time. This means that students will have more time to do a project or homework, which means that students won’t feel as pressured, which means that the quality of the homework is much higher. My next point also coincides with the previous point; that students won’t feel as pressured and worried as a two day weekend.
School days should be shorter fro students because they do not get enough sleep, have to much homework, and have barley have time to participate in extra curricular activities. A majority of students have sleep depravation due to school. If school would either start or end late students will have a greater opportunity to get more sleep. Teachers expect students to pay attention for 90 minutes while the night before they were up late finishing their homework for there classes. Some teachers do not realize that students have a life and work or have other obligations that take up a major portion of the students.
Relaxation could improve a students ability to think and therefore enhance their chance of excelling at their academics. According to an Indiana school,"Having one weekday off of school each week allows more flexibility for teachers and students." Students have an extra day to make sure that they do all their studies and still get extra time to do extra curricular activities. This also prevents homework and studying excuses students might make as a result of lack of time and abundant amount of homework. A five day week of school gives students a hard time as they have to adjust both activities and studies in 2 days. As a result of a five day school week students get less time to spend with their families, but with a four day school week they could spend more with family and still have everything finished and be prepared. Concluding from these chain of events, an implementation of a four day school week will result in a students academic growth.
Some people would argue that homework should not stay in schools because it decreases the amount of family time. They say that when a child is doing homework, it decreases family time because that child is not involved in the family but the homework (“Teachers…”). This theory has been proven wrong; in fact homework actually increases family time. Family time increases by the encounter the parents and children have while doing homework. It brings them together by how the children ask for help on their homework (5). The child will ask their parent or siblings to help them, and that will spark the family time. The parents will try to help and will not stop till their child understand how to do it. While helping with their child’s homework the parents can ask how their day went, and how that certain class was. Engaging in conversation always increases family time. Not only will they get to talk to their children, the parents will be informed of their child’s studies and how good or bad they are doing in school. Which proves that homework increases family time.
Although the living conditions of children are getting lot better than when we were kids, the children study more time than we did. The pupils have to get up at earlier than 7 o 'clock to make sure they won’t be late for school. Not only have that, these pupils still had to participate in various after school program, and a lot of variety of training during the weekends. The most pressure is homework. As a summer school teacher, I always can hear kids say that the teacher gave them too much work, had to spend two hours a day to compete the homework, and have no time to play. Is it too much pressure for the kids? That is the question for most of the parents. What should the parents as should do to let these children relax and do not have that much pressure? The author of Help Children Form Good Study Habit, Erika A.Patall points out those parents should not help children do their homework because they need their own practice. Not only that, the author of The
Helping with homework and discussing topics in which the child may be having difficulty with can help them perform better in school. Parents need to be more aware that the time spent at school may not be enough for students to receive proper teaching instructions. There should be some interaction with studies outside of school hours. Unfortunately, for students who are at a socio-economic disadvantage often struggle in school, particularly if parents lack higher levels of education. In the book, Savage Inequalities: Children in America’s school, Kozol (1992) believed that, “the poorest parents, often the products of inferior education, lack of information access and the skills of navigation in an often hostile and intimidating situation to channel their children to the better schools, obtain the applications, and help them get ready for the necessary tests.” While parents are receiving the necessary information regarding their child 's education, they are not responding because they either did not understand the purpose nor did they investigate it. It’s not that many parents don’t care to know, they just seem to lack the understanding or
They say that four-day school weeks cause stress for parents that work five days a week and don’t have someone to watch their child. However, EducationWorld.com states that some school districts have left the extra day open for tutoring. Some schools have even dedicated the day to school clubs or sport activities, providing somewhere for the kids to go while their parents are
The expectations and standards for kids in America are too low. The low expectations of students are encouraging them to slack off or not give their education their best efforts. Many states are making tests and curricula easier so it looks like their students are performing really well, when in reality they are just being given easy material (“Bursting bubbles; Education…”). After school activities are another factor in low academic performance. While jobs and sports provide many benefits, school is the number one priority for kids. Not enough emphasis is put on this by teachers and parents (“Shortchanging students: How…”). Parents are contributing to the low expectations by not paying enough attention to how their kids are doing in school, also. Parents should be rewarding children for achievements and punishing them for failures instead of ignoring what is happening in their child’s life. If kids know that they won’t be punished or rewarded then they won’t try their hardest, because they know it doesn’t matter. Students have reported that they think grades aren’t important, they don’t try their hardest, or are afraid of what their friends migh...
School should be four days a week with an extra hour added to each school day because it would save money for the school system, increase student motivation, stimulate the economy, and promote student achievement. There has been a decrease in education due to the small amount of resources, causing classrooms to be bigger and children not being able to extend their knowledge. Even though the economy has been falling, each school district has been working hard to promote student education, which could mean trading a traditional school schedule for a four-day school week. Replacing a normal school schedule for the four day school week can raise the school budget tremendously. (Hart, Demand Media).
There are many opinions and studies about reforming school days. Some people are concerned that longer school days would bring more difficulties. However, there are numerous studies and practical examples that prove that we improve students’ performance by lengthening school days. Finally, the economy and our society will benefit from expanding school days.
“The average student in 1961 spent 40 hours a week engaged in their studies and today nearly 27 hours weekly” (Johnson 1). Student’s are participating less in their studies and homework because they know that they do not have to do much to get an A in today's schools. When student’s lack motivation according to Johnson, they are not going to be as “successful in the real world and in higher education institutions” (2). When teachers expectations drop it contributes to students motivation in school because students know how easy it is for a teacher to give out As. When students work ethic in school starts to lack they start to view and treat school in a different way because education is not valued enough as it should be
To parent’s, education is the most important thing for their son or daughter to succeed in life become successful. Parents send their kids to school with the intention that their kids are safe and are learning valuable things. From the moment that their son/daughter go into kindergarten from the moment they graduate high school, parents believe that the school has prepared them well to be off on their own in the real world. Although, that doesn’t seem to be the case in every students’ life. Students are taught from the moment they start school to not speak out of turn, raise their hands if something is needed, aim to be the top student of their class, do as the teacher has said, no questions asked, walk in a straight line, and never fail.
That one day can relieve the stress of a busy week and make a student feel refreshed. A refreshed student will learn better than a stressed-out student. The same goes for a teacher. A teacher that has had that one extra day of rest can teach better than a stressed-out teacher because a well rested student will be more relaxed, calm, and patient. & nbsp; Although some people may think extending the school week will benefit the education level of the country I think otherwise. Extending the school week could actually hurt the education level of our country. Eliminating time for family, work, and relaxation will affect the attitudes of the students and teachers. Their
