Your parking lot is an important asset, so you probably take the appropriate steps to prolong its life. You have cracks filled quickly and have fresh sealcoating applied periodically to protect the integrity of your pavement and its supporting foundation. However, if you are ignoring your pavement markings, it could be costing you money in some unexpected ways.
You Are Annoying Your Customers or Tenants
Most humans have an innate need for order. They want to at least know the rules even if they choose not to follow them. If there are no stripes to define parking spaces, drivers will not be sure where they should park. Other drivers may park too near, making it difficult or impossible for them to enter their vehicles when they are ready to
Doing so would cause the asphalt to harden and therefore make it unusable. “Because asphalt cannot be stored, it is not susceptible to being inventoried” (Justia, 2000).
Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
Sidewalks are different shapes and sizes, people tend to make their own decisions to which way they would want to go. Going through the motions on a sidewalk is similar as going through the motions of life. There are many turns that could get you to your final destination and turns that can also get you into places you would not feel so comfortable being. Staying on the right path and trying to get to where you need to go isn’t so hard but when you have other sidewalks with nice grass and big beautiful street lights that can be a very big distraction to the eye and that could cause problems in your life. Nice sidewalks sometimes don't always tend to continue a nice path so they can be very believing at first but when you make it to the end
After a long day of cruising through town with your buddy, the two of you have grown quite an appetite. You spot a McDonalds at the top of a very steep hill. Unfornately a local biker gang must of had the same idea. Encredibly, the only available parking spot is on the street, uphill of nearly 15 Harleys. There are no other restaurants for 100 miles in all directions. Famished, your friend skillfully manuvers his car to the side of the road. The breaks shudder as the car comes to a stop on the hill. He holds the brake, puts it into first, and shuts off the car.
One is the cost of the project. The office might consider the money could be used towards other upgrades such as the playgrounds, the pool, or other necessities. Another is the construction. The office might not want to have to block traffic when residents are trying to leave or come home. Furthermore, will the residents and others actually use the crosswalks when finished? However, the money should be spent on crosswalks because of a safety issue. Spending the money on the crosswalks can end up saving residents’ and others’ lives preventing further tragedies from occurring. As far as the construction, whomever is putting up the crosswalks can split the road up into different sections to keep the traffic flow. A detour could also be created having drivers go around the opposite way to their house or wherever they need to go in the neighborhood. The neighborhood office should send out a letter to all residents addressing the crosswalks are for their safety and should be used at all times. As for all non-residents to help them understand the importance of using the crosswalk, put a banner at the entrance stating a certain date all crosswalks will be utilized when crossing the
Parking by the dormitories is almost impossible. Students who live at particular dorms find themselves faced with the problem of having to park on the other side of campus. Those who live in Brown Hall, which is behind the Thompson center, have the most parking problems on campus. This is because the Thompson center is a very large building housing various departments on campus. Therefore it receives a lot of traffic all day. Visitors to the campus are taking over the parking lots around the Thompson center, which is forcing students to park other places on campus and some students chose to disregard the signs posted for reserved parking.
Why do students and their parents pay such a large amount of money to attend the University of Dayton if there is not going to be any place for parking? I am a first year student at the university so I understand that I am not permitted to have my car on campus (Handbook). My boyfriend on the other hand, lives at least a half hour away and comes to visit me several times a week. He arrives and has to drive for a very long time trying to find a place to park where he will not receive a ticket. He has tried to park everywhere we can think of, but it never seems to work out. The first few times he came over public safety/the police department was willing to give out temporary permits for visitors and people staying overnight. They allowed the driver to park in the main parking lot, which is in the middle of campus as long as they were gone by eight or nine in the morning so university workers would have the spaces to park. Public safety decided to do away with temporary permits because it was becoming a hassle for them. So as my boyfriend would still come to visit he had to hunt even harder for a space not knowing whether they would be giving tickets or not. He parked off the university in the neighborhood and received a ticket from the city police for being parked on the street. It seems that no matter where he parks he is going to get a ticket and the prices go up each time he receives one, eventually they will put a boot on his tire so he cannot leave. It costs over one-hundred dollars to get it removed. After a series of tickets the will tow your car and not let the driver back on campus unless all the tickets are paid off.
Do you think bicycle facilities are safe when located on the road between car lanes and parking spots?
Finding an empty parking space is a common problem in most urban areas which especially occurs in popular areas and tourist attraction spots. This situation has become more serious especially during their peak time, be it holiday seasons ,carnivals or any other festivals. The limited availability of vacant parking spaces often result in traffic congestion. Limitation of a driver’s capability of finding a vacant parking spaces and absence of efficient management are also at fault causing this problem.
There is one practice that really irritates me during my morning commute to work in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, are the drivers who are in the “fast lane” without keeping pace with the other cars sharing the lane, and who are also failing to yield to a faster driver and allowing them to pass. The passing lane is commonly referred to as a "fast lane" because it is often used for extended periods of time for through traffic or faster traffic. In theory, a passing lane should only be used for passing, thus allowing, drivers to travel at their own pace. There are three important reasons why I believe law enforcement should spend more time ticketing drivers that impede traffic flow instead of ticketing the ones exceeding the speed if conditions warrant because the people going slow are the one’s causing the root problem and the people being erratic trying to get around are only responding to the improper use of the passing lane, making them victims and not perpetrators.

During my under graduation I have learnt only about basics of pavement materials and different layers of pavements. It was only after studying graduate courses I realized how limited my knowledge was and I need to work very hard and explore more in this vast field. During first year of my graduate study I have studied Pavements Materials, Pavement Design and Evaluation, Highway Construction Practices and these graduate courses opened a new paradigm for me to the way I looked at pavement engineering. This prompted me to look at it as a field full of challenges which make it even more dynamic and op...
The primary point of traffic laws is safety, but also keeping order. Following traffic laws is one of the most essential aspects of driving and can increase your safety as well as of the people around you. Knowing the traffic rules in our region and applying them can prevent us from getting involved in an car accident and save us the pain and costs of a traffic ticket due to a violation. If we didn’t have any traffic laws there would be chaos on the roads and many disasters could happen.
When having stop signs and traffic lights, people have a tendency to drive slower and look out for people walking in the middle of streets. To put a traffic light or a stop sign in a community, it takes a lot of work and planning from the community and the city to put one in. It is not cheap to do it either. The community first needs to take a petition around to everyone in the community and have them sign so they can take it to the board when the next city council meeting is. A couple residents will present it to the board, and they will decide weather or not to put it in or not. If not put in a lot of residents might be mad and bad things could happened to that part of the city.
