Judgement is cast down upon us wherever we go. People will judge you secretly, and try to use stereotypes on you. They will try to use their “acts of knowledge” and sway what you think or believe. Some may be wrong, others may be right. Many people say that there are three sides to a story, your side, the other person’s side, and the truth. In society, there are many flaws and problems. Once of the problems we are born with is ignorance. Everyone experiences guidelines in their lifetime. You may not notice, but they surround society like a shroud. Something to support this claim is “For every girl who throws out her E-Z bake oven, there is a boy who wishes to find one.” People try to include guidelines in life, and enforce stereotypes on others …show more content…
It chases us, some of us want to be right, but are we really? We could be wrong, but just not notice. An example of this is a quote from a story, “To them, I said the truth would literally nothing but the shadows themselves.” This quote is meant to picture people only seeing shadows or “illusions” and not reality. If people spend their life chasing shadows, or illusions, how would they know what reality is or how to experience it? What would be the difference of reality and illusions to them? It shows that ignorance is something you are born with. You believe everything at a young age, and can’t tell right from wrong. It’s the same thing with ignorance. How can you tell illusions from reality? People’s guidelines, and what they are told conflict with that is really right. The illusions given to people are ignorance they are born with. Another quote to support this is, “Last of all, he will be able to see the sun, and not mere reflections of him in water, but he will see him in his own proper place, and not in another, and he will contemplate him as he is.” This quote shows that once you learn the truth, see past all of the illusions, you will get enlightenment. A reason why people’s beliefs set the standards of what they believe. Illusions and reality will affect them, and shows them the way. If we were born with no ignorance, how different would the world be? Who

Throughout the history of mankind there have been numerous cases in which people were victims of oppression or hate. Among these cases the sole reasoning behind this oppression or hate being based on the perception of others. History has shown that society is responsible for labeling groups of people, generally these labels are misleading.
All in all, there will always be people that will judge every move everyone else does in life just like the grandmother did in the story. As a result, people will just have to learn how to deal with it because if others decide to judge them they are probably doing something right. However, if you decide to judge someone else before you do it turn the critical eye on yourself and judge your personal life and ask yourself how is your life doing?
Everyone on the planet does not experience the same things. They come from different countries, racial and ethnic groups, socio-economic statuses, environments, and many other factors that influence how a person is raised and grows throughout life. Therefore, everyone perceives reality in different ways. Our beliefs and expectations about reality the world can also influence how we experience reality. According to Psychology Today, there are many things that people do that distort reality. For example, the way that people focus their attention can alter their perceptions. When a person has a belief they often only look for evidence that supports their belief and disregard evidence that contradicts their belief. This is called conformation bias. People see things as they want to see them, even if there is evidence to discredit their beliefs. One way for a person to avoid conformation bias is to examine evidence that does not support their belief instead of just ignoring it. This can make a person view the world around them more objectively. Another thing that people do that distorts their reality is that they reconstruct their memories. People often cannot fully remember their memories. These

In today’s society many technological advances have contributed to advanced communication. While these are advantageous and can improve communication across the globe, they have become a hindrance to critical thinking. With the advancement of technology throughout the world human beings are able to think less while still “functioning.” Literacy is thrown to the wayside and texting “lingo” runs rampant. Why read a book when you can watch the movie? Students are becoming less interested in language, reading, and writing and more involved with surfing the web for answers. This shift in the value of literacy opens the world up to many dangers that if not confronted and demolished could lead to a society unable to think for themselves.
The perciption of reality is different for everyone. For example, I think that reality is something that is well natured and enjoyable, and another may say that reality, for them, is something they have to work hard and suffer for. The film Matrix shows perception of reality through Neo and...
The short story Usher II uses themes of irony and vengeance, as well as, classic literature to explore the consequence of blind censorship. Usher II is featured in The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury's "best known work and in many ways his finest achievement" (Mogen 82). In The Martian Chronicles, "Usher II" takes place several years after the colonization of Mars has begun and humans almost have a complete society on Mars. In this story, on earth there is an agency referred to as the "moral climate people" and the agency's primary objective is to try and enforce their idea of what a moral society should be. "Usher II" tells the story of Mr. Stendhal and his brilliant plan to get rid of the censors that try to make him and the rest of the population conform to their idea of how a "decent person" should act in society.
proves that people will judge somebody sooner than they would get to know them. Regularly, individual people are very friendly, but because of there. actions throughout history or their rivalling religious beliefs. often see them as being a possible threat and treat every person of that race as if they were the same. This is called stereotyping.

Illusion versus Reality Illusion versus reality is often referred to as deception of appearance. This is when something or something portrays itself as what it is not. Just like disguise, deception of appearances is an appearance in order to conceal one's true attitude or identity. This is related to the idiom "Do not judge a book, by its cover" and the metaphor "A wolf in sheep's clothing. "
Prejudice and discrimination push people apart instead of bringing us together. Our religion, race, height, nationality, and even our gender are factors that most people make quick judgments about. Unfortunately, many of these judgments are based on biases and assumptions and it is among all of us. Every country, state, city discriminate among themselves even their own kinds.
People often look at others and judge them based on their appearance. It is something everyone does based on human nature, but nobody knows what that person 's story it. Maybe that lady is dressed in ratty clothes because she works two jobs to support her family. People base these judgments on race, sex, and economic class. I often feel misjudged by people and it is hard because people do not know my real story. On the exterior, I look like a middle class white male and that is what I am, but I am much more than that. Nobody would see me and know that I am a Latino and guess how I got to where I am today. Everybody has a different background and everybody has created their own personal history different from the rest of the
The United States was built on the foundation of freedom. This freedom included the right to express one’s views without prosecution or limitation. This paved the way for the freedom to learn and pursue educational achievements. However, there are times when learning becomes halted in the interest of “appropriateness.” This is in reference to censorship. Censorship, by definition, is “the forbidding, blocking, limiting, or obstructing access to information for whatever reason.”(p248)1 This form of interference can prevent awareness and stint intellectual growth. Therefore, censorship should be used sparingly in education without political or religious motivation because the abuse of censorship negatively affects our education as a whole.
