There are many people around the world that break the laws everyday and have to face several consequences. Several of the consequences they have to go through depend on the crime that was preceded. In the nation, there are millions of people who look up to celebrities. Some of these celebrities have committed certain crimes. People who adore these “famous pop stars” or “favorite athletes” may not know about their crimes. Due to them being “famous” officers or whoever deals with them, slacks their punishment. That is unfair not only to other people who are committing the same crime, but to the fans as well.
There is something that many people believe in, which is called a double standard. It is a rule or principle that is unfairly applied

in different ways. For example, . In this case it matters because celebrities may be “higher” than us because they’re famous and have way more money than we do. Them breaking the law, and hardly getting any punishment makes it really unfair to us. The reason it makes it unfair to us is because as soon as they break a law, it easier for them to get away with it because of their fame. Every person should have the same equal punishment, no matter the circumstance.
Just because someone is famous, doesn’t necessarily mean they are exempt from breaking the law. People need to take into consideration that everyone is the same. In the article, “What’s It Like For Aaron Hernandez In Jail,” explains how this football player is currently in jail for murder and is not given the same treatment as any other person would have been given for the crime he committed. Celebrities are famous for a reason and should be responsible for their actions and know their limits. Their punishment should be the same as everyone else. Aaron’s crime was hectic, especially because he is famous and a lot of people looked up to him. He broke the law by murdering someone just like a normal person would do. Nevertheless, Aaron Hernandez is given a cell that’s 8-foot-by-12 foot all to himself. I believe that this is not fair at all. Murder is something huge that no one should get special treatment for no matter what they are in life and even if they have enough money to rule the …show more content…
world. There are tons of celebrities who are getting away with the cruel punishment that should be recognized and there should be a stop to it.
For example, “Pop star Justin Bieber is facing driving under the influence and other charges after authorities said he raced through a Miami Beach neighborhood in a rented Lamborghini.” Due to this he was cursed by cops as he after arrest. He also admitted to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. After his court appearance he posted bail and was released an hour later. His foolishness did not stop there, while leaving the correctional center in front of an crowd he waved goodbye from the top of a SUV. If this was to be the case of any other person without fame there would be no bail as quickly as Justin Bieber was released. By that happening it shows us that they didn’t pay much attention to what he could have done driving that fast. It is not fair that the correctional center released him that quick due to the fact that if a normal person would have done that it would not be that easy for him to be released that quick. This proves that there needs to be a change because celebrities are getting away with many things that makes us see
unfair. In the United States bill of rights it states that, “prohibiting the federal government from imposing excessive bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishments, including torture.” The federal governments may impose upon people who have been convicted of a criminal offense. The Excessive Fines Clause, limits the amount that state and federal governments may fine a person for a particular crime. That is when the release of a person accused of a criminal activity occurs, then they proceed their trial. Celebrities who get away with this law are not only breaking the eighth amendment, but taking advantage of other people as well by simply paying off their dues simply because they have plenty of money. There’s no difference between famous people and a person who is not famous. The rules should apply to everyone. Majority of the people believe that celebrities get some sort of “special treatment” simply because they are famous but that should not happen. The question, should celebrities who break the law get stricter punishments has been questioned many times. Majority of the peoples answers is yes. Due to the fact that they’re celebrities they have a huge responsibility to show their fans what is right. And to the people that say no, it is only because they think that celebrities live day by day with a lot of stress that can sometimes overwhelm them. This leads them into making choices that may have consequences.
Athletes do not always get in trouble, but when they do some athletes tend to have favoritism shown to them by the law enforcement. When it comes to athletes that break the law, one major viewpoint is that some athletes tend to get special treatment when they commit crimes because they are famous, but with harsher consequences. Athletes are supposed to be role models for younger kids who look up to them, but they are getting in trouble and causing controversy for all the wrong reasons and it is affecting their careers, the athletes might not think that it is because of the favoritism that law enforcement shows them, but it is. When athletes do commit crimes law enforcement tends to be bias toward them because they are known around the world (Withers). Therefore, this causes a lot of controversy surrounding the athlete because many people believe that they do not get disciplined like they should.
My second example is natural hair in the workplace. They deem our hair unkempt, nappy and unprofessional. However, they want us to conform to European standards and have us straighten our hair. Last but not least, while the average white woman gets paid $0.77 to every non-Hispanic white man earns, black women are paid $0.64, and Latina women are paid $0.55.
Part of that is because some people’s perspectives of celebrities allow them think as if they’re on a pedestal and are more important than the average human. When people vision these celebrities as these quintessential people it enable’s their own thoughts and opinions on the celebrity. It’s like brainwashing, these celebrities only show the media what they want, which allows them to put up a whole façade and mask who they truly are. During the O.J Simpson trial it opened more people’s minds to visualize the concept that celebrities have the ability to be just as deranged as the average person, and that we are all equal, but the only difference that’s separates us is the fact that their job is in the lime
Discrimination is known as unjust treatment of a particular group. In The Ways We Lie by Stephanie Ericsson, she discusses stereotypes and cliches (Ericsson 478). Discrimination is often a stereotypical device
We see behavior change when people start to see celebrities doing drugs or drinking. Why is it that all blogs or media sites only pay attention to the bad behavior? We see videos of famous people getting drunk, doing drugs, and even being disrespectful. Eventually, we see this domino effect on young girls, they start being rebellious, start talking back to their parents, even go to parties and drink. Nowadays, celebrities are seen as role models for these kids.
When considering the issue of celebrities receiving unfair treatment by making their punishment worse than a regular persons is totally un orthodox so it is essential to know that their regular too. Also all people don’t know what rules they are violating or what rules they need to know so they won’t violate them. All people aren’t guilty neither are they all innocent but they should suffer equal consequences.
This sort of behavior is constant over time. Celebrities today are posted and paraded all over TV and magazines, no matter what they do. Justin Beiber was caught drunk driving, stealing property, and many more crimes.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Today most young people think that if a person is rich and famous, they can get away with anything. They see rappers get charged with felonies and then they see that the charges get dropped. They’ve heard of celebrities running over children while drunk and get away with it without doing any time. However, not all rappers have run-ins with the law, but the ones that do are very well known. Tupac Shakur (RIP), for example, had many run-ins with the law. He was arrested for aggravated assault, and charged with shooting two off duty police officers in Atlanta in 1993, but the charges were later dropped (bomp). He was also accused of beating a limousine driver in Los Angeles and found guilty of threatening a fellow rapper with a baseball bat in Michigan (bomp).
In addition, if someone was fallowing you, taking pictures and bullying you every day single day, you would instantly report them to the police and they would without a doubt get the stalkers arrested, and they would get a restraining order. But if a celebrity calls the cops saying that there is someone following them and harassing them, no one is willing to protect them, because they are not able to stop the paparazzi for good. It 's like all celebrities are being punished for being rich and successful. Nobody deserves
I see it every day with disrespect, racism, and discrimination. There are numerous amounts of influences that distort society 's moral values. Music being the number one in my opinion; rap and hip-hop is a huge industry in today’s popular music scene. The problem is that it is not sending out a "positive" directive. Rap music derived from hip- hop, which reflected upon the violent lifestyles of kids and young adults in inner city neighborhoods. Rappers corrupt moral values by their disrespect towards, authorities, women, and laws. A rap group named N.W.A. even has a song titled "F*** The Police". This industry has created a world where minors and even young adults think it is cool to disrespect our authorities, and laws. From an adolescent perspective seeing or listening to someone they look up to is resulting
Many celebrities have been involved in criminal acts, but the sentencing they receive is very light, it varies from traffic school, anger management or rehab. According to David Barnett the most aggressive sentencing to a celebrity was done to Martha Stewart. From when she was found guilty for insider trading, she spent five months in a minimum security prison for a federal crime. Five months is the federal minimum a judge can charge for that type of crime. Another case would be the actor Elmore "Rip" Torn who was arrested after breaking into a bank with a loaded gun while intoxicated. He was charged with burglary and possessing a firearm without a permit. Now this is nothing new, the actor has had two previous serious felonies, and he roamed the street as freely as anybody (huffingtonpost).
After observing and researching all the sources portraying celebrities I have came into a conclusion that todays society it seems like all we want is to be accepted and we tend to look at other people and judge. Its not right, we all are different and thats what makes the world go round. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. Celebrities deal with this everyday, I think the paparazzi know more about some celebrities lives than they actually do. They judge them for who they are and what they do, it is not right nor fair.
We are part of a generation that is obsessed with celebrity culture. Celebrities are distinctive. Media and consumers alike invented them to be a different race of super beings: flawless, divine and above all the real moral world. In a 1995 New York Times article “In contrast, 9 out of 10 of those polled could think of something
Do we as a society have the right to punish celebrities when they misbehave? Do celebrities have the right to become livid when they are focused on their immoral behavior? Do they love the media attention only when it benefits them? Before we can answer the above questions, would we, furthermore, can we live our life as a celebrity if given the opportunity? The perks of illimitable wealth, vacationing all over the world, housekeepers, chefs, being in receipt of freebies from designers, multiple homes in diverse parts of the world, chauffeurs, the finest foods, and all the other perks that come with being a celebrity?
Celebrities have many of today's youth watching them, and young people are turning to their idols for judgement on what's right and wrong. Because of the First Amendment, the famous, along with everyone else, have the right to say and do what they want within legal limits, and follow whatever religion they choose. The press also have the right to write and report about celebrities. However, the famous also have the responsibility to be mindful of who is looking up to them and following their every move. They are often thrust into the position of role model before they are ready. They influence this country's future leaders, and are crucial to a child's moral upbringing. A question that must be posed is: Does achieving your dream and becoming famous mean you must sacrifice some basic rights in order to show kids how to live their lives?
