Uber is a safe alternative to cabs because of the background checks they use. First, Uber uses very extensive ways to check the driver like, “ The screening looks at county courthouse records, federal courthouse records, and a multi-state criminal background check, sex offender screening and a driver's record screening going back seven years.” (Pell 1) Uber takes very careful precautions when hiring a driver to protect the passengers. This precautions lower the chance of you a criminal or bad driver getting fired. Second, Uber have had less crimes over the past years than cabs because of the background checks. “Uber screens new drivers by putting them through a background check process, looking for criminal record or motor vehicle violations. Uber has added new safety features and measures to keep the drivers and passengers safe. First, Uber has added a new feature that “ If either a driver or passenger fall below a certain threshold, they could put on probation or disconnected from the service altogether” (2). This new rating feature is very helpful to keep the users safe. Because of this rating system now you will always get a good driver or a respectful passenger. Second, Morgan states that “ Recent safety additions include establishing a global board to oversee produces, a 24/7 incident response team, close work with law enforcement, and new features like a SOS button that would allow users to contact law enforcement straight from the app, according to the march safety update” (Morgan 2). These new safety updates like the SOS button will let you contact law enforcement fast if there was any trouble. Also the new incident response team will always be ready to respond to any problems you have with a Uber. Third, Guydish states that “ Riders receive a photo of the driver, info on the car and the license number so they can be sure they are boarding the ride they expected” (2)
Uber tried to remove liability by saying that the driver was not providing services for any passengers at the time of the accident. The lawyer for the family of the young girl argued that even though there were no services being
Jonathan Kay’s “Fare Share” has many weaknesses that make his argument not effective when writing his article. Kay’s argument talks about how Uber is stealing taxi drivers of their livelihoods and how Uber is taking over the taxi monopoly. Weaknesses found in this article was when Jonathan Kay makes Uber look bad when talking about their flashy app which seems to kind of promote it even more, and with a little more research he can find other taxi apps. To add on he seems to write it very tongue-in-cheek. Furthermore, Kay also lacks evidence to support what he says because some of his arguments are weak and basic. Another weakness would be that he left the reader wondering what he is trying to prove in his argument about Uber, he seems to be all over the place with his argument. Overall, this was a weakly written article.
The SUV provides the driver with a false sense of security. While one may feel it is a convenience to be riding higher than other commuters are, this characteristic is the one main reason why SUVs are extremely dangerous on the road. Because they are built higher off the ground, they have a high tendency to roll over (Tornatore 1). People in SUVs are 3½ times more likely to die in rollovers than people in mid-sized cars, says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (Davidson 1). The smaller SUVs are particularly troublesome. These smaller vehicles are particularly popular among teens and younger drivers. This means the less experienced drivers are sitting in the driver’s seats of potentially dangerous vehicles.
In addition to towing, we offer full service to travelers and locals who experience roadside difficulties. We even set up a secure password with you that only the driver and you know. Our concern is your safety and the security of both you and your vehicle, and our professional drivers wear company uniforms with their name embroidered above the pocket. You are always free to call us and verify any additional details or security questions, even if the driver is standing there.
Several measures have been put in place to try and control safety concerns. The leading areas of concern is poor working conditions for drivers, driver exhaustion, hour of service, drivers shortages, fuels prices, driver
There are several great traits about Tesla vehicles. The model S, which is Tesla’s first sedan, is Consumer Report’s “top pick” in the survey. Not only were they top pick in the sedan class vehicles, but they were also the overall top pick among consumers. This means that in a survey it ranked higher than GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, and many others. (LeBeau, Phillip) This is quite the accomplishment. One of the reasons for its highest picks is the car high safety ratings. The NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Tesla Model S a five star safety rating in every category and subcategory. They would’ve rated it even higher if they could; sadly, the NHTSA’s scoring system only goes up to five. There is another chance for the Model S to score higher. The VSS or the Vehicle Safety Score, which is the safety score given back to the manufactures gave the Model S a 5.4. This score is higher than any class of vehicle on the road ways to date and has the lowest risk of any injury front, side, rear, and rollover included. (LeBeau) This car is so incredibly safe that there are reports of the test equipment breaking before the car itself does. Tesla also has a quite controversial method for selling ...
Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.
Automobile safety has advanced extremely and is continuing to get better and better every year. I chose to write about automobile safety because every year i get more and more surprised about the new features companies come out with. For example the Tesla car that drives itself. Isn't that insane
There are a lot of positive reports about the benefits working for Uber has compared to working for a taxi company. Cab drivers have to pay exponential rates to lease cabs; Uber drivers have the freedom to drive cars they own. Many former cab drivers have switched to Uber due to the personal financial benefits (“Uber isn’t Just Good For…”). There have been some reports of inappropriate
Automotive executives touting self-driving cars as a way to make commuting more productive or relaxing may want to consider another potential marketing pitch: safety (Hirschauge, 2016). The biggest reason why these cars will make a safer world is that accident rates will enormously drop. There is a lot of bad behavior a driver exhibit behind the wheel, and a computer is actually an ideal motorist. Since 81 percent of car crashes are the result of human error, computers would take a lot of danger out of the equation entirely. Also, some of the major causes of accidents are drivers who become ill at the time of driving. Some of the examples of this would be a seizure, heart attack, diabetic reactions, fainting, and high or low blood pressure. Autonomous cars will surely remedy these types of occurrences making us
To conclude, the new safety innovations are still in use and are saving drivers lives day after day. Before these innovations were in use many drivers died each month. Now we have less drivers dieing because of these innovations. Although, these safety items are not mentioned frequently, they are aways in use on the race track. If it weren’t for the years of advancement in the safety of auto racing we might not have any drivers left to race.
If there were no drivers, there would be no profits, and if drivers found other more favourable ways to make income, Uber would be affected drastically. This is an impactful flaw in Uber’s design. Drivers will often be dissatisfied due to no real employer-employee relationship due to only contract employment, lack of communication, and extremely minimal room for drivers to advance in rank or professionally develop.

When I look past what's inside the Ford Focus LX Premium versus the SE Comfort, I can see many of these technological advances for what they really are: unnecessary risks. The fact is that the number of accidents (and deaths) increases as a direct result of driver distractions, and more technology only provides more distraction. Unfortunately, manufacturers realize a high tech GPS system can sell for a lot more than an improved seat belt. Protection of human safety should be the primary concern of transportation regulations and in-vehicle technology developments. So while other people continue to drive while calling in to check voice mail, worrying about finishing off the Big Gulp Slurpee, and buying a GPS navigator to find the fastest route to grandma's house, I'll know I drove away from the dealership with the safest option: focus.
There are many roads across the world. Based on where a person is in the world, safety varies with the place. Road safety varies throughout the world because of how crowded a place is. If a road is in a very populated area, the more crowded and unsafe the roads are. There are many different types of roads and many different population numbers around the world unsafe, moderately safe, and extremely safe are three tiers that can categorize a place’s safety on the road.
