The movie Nightcrawler is a thriller. This movie is written and directed by Dan Gilroy. Louis Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a petty thief, but he is eager to find a job. His motto is, “If you want to win the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket.” He desires to be a freelance journalist by filming crime events late at night in Los Angeles. He starts to do everything to become the hero of his own. He sells the footage to news stations. He is a talented salesman. To get what he wants, he tries to convince people as he is the best man for everything they want. When his footages catch the eye of morning news director, Nina (Rene Russo), he starts making more money. This allows Louis to succeed as a freelance journalist. Because most crime happens and Louis works at night, most of the scenes are recorded at night. In the beginning, Louis makes money by stealing metal fences and selling them to the foreman at a construction site. After the deal, Louis asks the foreman if he is hiring. He tries to convince him that he can do anything. Louis said, “I’m a hard worker, I set high goals, and I’ve been told that I’m persistent.” The close up camera angle shot is on Louis’s face. Louis’s act is like he wants the job seriously. On this scene, the director wants to show how much Louis is eager to find a job. Louis acting is like he doesn’t have a job and he is ready to do whatever the job is to make money. However, the foreman tells him that he isn’t going to hire him, which makes you think what Louis going to do. At this scene, Dan Gilroy wants to tell us that Louis starts with no money.
