The Evolution of the Camera
Cameras have changed a lot during the last century. It started with a camera obscura and now there are thousands of different cameras in the world. Cameras have evolved a lot and are still evolving today.
George Eastman introduced the first brownie camera in 1900. At $1 a camera and 15 cents per roll for film, it was the first camera that was affordable for the general public. The camera was designed by his camera designer, Frank Brownell to be as cheap as possible while still being able to function properly. In the first year more than 150,000 cameras were shipped. The camera had a simple rotary shutter, an f/14 meniscus lense, and six 2 ¼ inch square negatives. Eastman wanted to make photography within reach for everyone. It

was so easy to use that little children could use it without any problem. The brownie was actually designed for child use, and it was named after a Palmer Cox character.
The brownie cameras were in production for about 70 years, and during this time more there were more than 125 different models of the brownie cameras(Kodak, 2013).
In 1948, Edwin Land marketed the first Polaroid camera. It introduced the first instant camera. His first camera was sold for $89.95 which was really expensive for a camera. Then, in 1963, the first instant color film was produced. Polaroid also releases the Model 100 Land camera which is the first fully automatic pack film and exposure control camera. In 1972, they introduce the SX-70 Land camera which is the first fully-automatic, motorized, and folding camera with instant color prints. After about a year, the company is producing 5,000 a day(Polaroid, 2014).
In 1975, Steve Sasson, an engineer working for kodak, developed the digital camera and, in 1990 the technology was released to the public(Harding Collin, 2012). Even though the first digital camera was bigger and slower than the first brownie camera, it was much more advanced technology than the brownie. That is probably why we mostly use digital cameras today instead of cameras that use
negatives. Cameras have served for a long time as a way of instantly documenting events, whether it is to document a family vacation or a major moment in history. The brownie camera made cameras affordable for most people. It made it possible for anyone to get a picture of anything or anyone they wanted without having to pay someone else to paint it it or photograph it. The digital camera simply made it easier to store the pictures they took and, the pictures were obviously better quality. Today there are thousands of different types of cameras. Most are digital, but some still have film like early cameras did. Since the invention of the brownie camera there have been many advances in the camera industry and sales have skyrocketed. Now most of america has some sort of camera, whether it’s a camera on their phone, just a regular camera, or both. Cameras have evolved a great deal since the first one was invented. This invention was very important. Because of cameras, newspapers at the time could put in more pictures because they didn't have to pay for someone else's drawings, instead of painted portraits that took hours to paint they could just take a picture and the portrait was done in a few minutes. Cameras have been used to take pictures to document important historical events as well. Cameras are still very useful today. They are used to capture moments of ones life, scientifical reasons, on social media, document news articles, and commercials.
Our intention on the project was to separate the project with Tom doing the early years and I doing the later years in the company’s history. We would share the different information with each other helping each other understand the difficult technological information to hand with the different camera systems that were created threw out the years.

It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when the Kodak Eastman Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900. (Baker, n.p.) Its features became more refined since its original placing on the market; one of the reasons why it has become considered the birth of public photography is because of the processing. Using a similar image capture system, the brownie exposed the light to a 120mm roll of film, which could be wound round, meaning six photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The first Brownie used a six-exposure cartridge that Kodak processed for the photographer. (Kodak.com, n.d.) Realistically, the armature photographers did not need to understand darkroom processes, they could simply use capture the subjects, and send it to be developed. The cameras were relatively affordable, targeting many different markets, which is apparent from their advertisements. Figure 2 Is an advertisement from for the Eastman Kodak Company’s Brownie Camera; It states in bold lettering “Operated by any school boy or girl” which emphasis how it was targeted for amateur use.

Photography has been around for nearly 200 years and has advanced dramatically with the new technology. In 1826, when the first photograph was taken photography was a very basic art form, but soon after photographers figured out how to manipulate their photos. In today’s society, it is almost unheard of to look at photographs that are raw and unedited, but has it always been this way? Dating back to the first photograph in 1826 by Joseph Nicephore Niepce, photography seemed to be raw, but only a few decades after those photographers discovered they could alter their photos to make them more appealing (“Harry Ransom Center”). Over the past 200 years photos of all different subjects have been manipulated through history and technology seems to be the culprit.
The first half-tone photograph sent in an electronic manner was transmitted by Western Union in 1921. The concept of a photograph being sent in this manner was conceived by Alexander Bain, a Scottish clockmaker, in 1843, but this was the first physical manifestation of his concept.
Then, in 1916, Ansel took his first trip to Yosemite while on vacation with his family. Ansel became interested in photography on this trip and took his first photos on his first camera. "With his first camera, a Kodak Box Brownie, Ansel's life as a photographer began an interest which was to endure for the rest of his life. With his first attempts at committing the magic of Yosemite to film, he demonstrated the beginnings of an immense talent which was to make him a world-class photographer". (2)

Something like this throw away camera (visual) will cost about $5 to $8 a piece, can take excellent pictures, is already loaded with film, and can come with such features as water proofing and flash. You simply un-wrap it, point and click. When you are done, you just drop the whole thing off for processing. The downside of this option is that it ...
Camera surveillance is not some trend that is fairly recent. Early surveillance systems required a person to constantly check the footage and
The idea for photographing came around in 1814 when Joseph Niépce wanted an image of his son before he left for war. He succeeded in making the first camera in 1827, but the camera needed at least eight hours to produce one picture. Parisian Louis Daguerre invented the next kind of camera in 1839, who worked with Niépce for four years. His camera only needed fifteen to thirty minutes to produce a picture. Both Niécpe’s and Daguerre’s cameras made pictues on metal plates. In the same year Daguerre made his camera, an Englishman by the name of William Henry Fox Talbot made the first camera that photographed pictures on paper. The camera printed a reverse picture onto a negative and chemicals were needed to produce the photo up right. In 1861, color film came along and pictures were produced with color instead of being just black and white. James Clerk Maxwell is credited with coming up with color film, after he took the ...

But people use the tradition cameras for more than 150 years, will they easily to accept the new camera? How to motivate consumer to buy digital cameras? Can the marketers create such a need to them? For this article, I would discuss the need and motivation of consumers, and show the answer about the questions above.
Photography is a mindful medium of expression, perspective, interpretation and can sometimes be truth. The changes throughout the history of photography have changed how people see the image they're looking at. In the 19th century, they were no editing options or software of any kind. You just go through the process and take the photo and people could easily tell it was real. Of course it would a shock to see what was once a real life event in that time period, but then transferred on paper "capturing" the moment itself. The truth could easily been seen, now in the 21st century, most of that has changed. There are
Introducing Powershot S400, a genuine product only by Canon. So popular that it has so many different websites that discuss its features and advantages compared to other digital cameras. The first website is the Powershot S400 website (www.powershot.com/powershot2/s400), the second one is megapixel.net (www.megapixel.net/reviews/canon-s400/s400-review.html), and the last but not least is DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot S400 Digital ELPH (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s400-review/).
Since then, the evolution of the digital camera has been extraordinary, and the industry continues to grow. Camera technology can also now be found in cellular devices expanding our horizons of taking and sharing photos.
