Loneliness is a feeling of emptiness due to not having any friends or company around. Being lonely doesn 't always mean that one is alone. Keeping to oneself does not always mean reclusiveness. In fact, one can have many people to talk to and be a very popular person and still feel alone. There are many key aspects that factor into a person’s level of loneliness including how many close friends they truly have, how many people that really understand them as a person, and their willingness to share parts of themselves with aforementioned people. Often times, people put up invisible boundaries to protect themselves from emotional damage. Whether the threat of damage be real or not, the walls go up and people shield themselves from the impending blow. This self-preservational method can make trusting people harder and hiding away in loneliness easier. Making friends is difficult when you have so much protective gear on that you can 't even speak. It may seem like this person would rather be left alone, but that may not always be the case. A lot of times, it 's exactly the opposite. They want to see if someone is willing to take the time to dismantle all of their traps and disarm every single alarm until they are standing there, completely their true self and vulnerable. Sometimes, it is okay to be vulnerable. Sometimes, risking the damage is worth it to know that there 's someone out there that can make someone feel less empty inside. Wearing that much armor is such a heavy, strenuous burden to bear and taking it off to finally let someone in can feel so relieving. Letting someone in is an entirely different feeling, though. One might feel like after a long time of being frequently misunderstood, someone at last says the words kept sealed deep in the other’s mind. One may feel like at last, they’ve been set free from the cages that bind them for years. And maybe, they’ll keep letting people in; the people that promote positive change in them and teach them how to trust again. The more people they let in, the less lonely they get. The less lonely they get, the happier they are. Loneliness consumes, but so does happiness. All they have to do is let people

You can’t even make a law against it because it is a feeling. Some get over there loneliness by meeting new people, but still others never get over it and live lonely.

Isolation is a state of being separation between persons or group, or a feeling being alone. There are different factors that contribute to someone feeling alone and isolated. An example of this would be when celebrities go into deep depression because they feel isolated from the whole world. They have all the material things they could ever want, but the one thing they want the most, they do not have. , which is happiness, which comes from satisfaction within oneself and being satisfied with what one has done in one's life. Feeling isolated does not necessarily mean a person is bad. Evidence in Shakespeare play Macbeth , demonstrates this quite clearly that MacBeth's isolation comes from guilt , over-ambition and greed.
In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck looks at the theme of loneliness as it affects many characters on the ranch. Crooks, Curley's wife, and Candy are the most excluded characters on the ranch, because they all have dreams that they will not be able to live out and they all are at loss when it came to companionship. Crooks is lonely because he is the only black man on the ranch. Since this book is set during the Depression, Jim Crow laws are still in effect, whites and blacks had separate facilities for socializing and living. Crooks comments that he can't live in the bunkhouse, and cant even play cards in there.

I feel uncomfortable in my own world. Being alone unnerves me. I always have felt the need to share my world, my mind and my feelings with somebody. My feelings about myself seem less important than what others think of me. I'm scared of being lonely. And so are we all. We all seem to be on a continuous search for someone who will really love and understand us. Someone to provide us with a purpose for life. And yet I think we are all essentially alone. We are alone in our thoughts an emotions.
What is solitude? Solitude is the time a person spends alone, hopefully the person is doing something that they enjoy. I experience solitude every time I write a poem. Solitude can either be good or bad. In my situation solitude is good because I really enjoy writing poetry. When experiencing solitude in a bad way, could be having solitude not when you want it but when you have to. An example is people in prison, they would rather be enjoying their lives but they committed a crime now they have to do the time (Alone). As humans we desire pleasure and freedom.
