Martha has touched their lives and made those lives better. "Ask any of her brand loyalists and they'll tell you that Martha understands their lives, which is why they listen to her, follow her advice and buy her products" (Frankel). Born in 1941, Ms. Stewart had quite the life. Growing up, her father introduced her to gardening, while her mother introduced her to cooking, baking, and sewing and after marrying her husband, Andrew Stewart; she became a
The definition of homemade has changed drastically throughout time. Rachel Jones recognizes this in her article “Homemade is the New Organic,” published in 2013 by The Atlantic. It is in this article that she explains how media nowadays has raised expectations on home cooking. Jones` purpose is to make readers aware of the unrecognizable and unrealistic expectations that the modern media subtly places on us when it comes to home cooking. Based on the content and the examples presented in the article, it appears as though the author`s intended audience is people who cook, or more specifically, mothers that cook. Jones begins building her credibility with past experiences and reputable sources, uses facts to back up her claims, and appeals to reader`s emotions.
The McGuffey Readers mentions the women’s duty to clean in multiple places. In this handbook it gives clear directions to the woman on what she is to do when cleaning, “This ceremony completed, and the house thoroughly evacuated, the next operation is to smear the walls and ceilings with brushes dipped into a solution of lime. (Gorn 111). ” The book explains how it is the women’s job to thoroughly clean the house once a year in a manner that sounds very laborious!
I am not a super messy person, but I don't necessarily keep my room clean all the time, either. Many a time I have opted to put away my clothes, clean out my binder and my backpack, make my lunch for the next day, and/or take a shower before I get to my homework. Doing all these activities takes a while, and I usually end up doing all of them on nights when I have a lot of homework, or if I have a test the next day. Any type of cleaning or household chore would work, though, such as scrubbing the shower, vacuuming, or dusting.
It all started when I moved to my new home in River Grove. The process of cleaning and restoring our new home was so satisfying for me. I helped out with the yard work, organizing, and cleaning the entire property inside and outside. Instead of this being a chore, that most people would complain about, it was very pleasing and satisfying to me as if it was almost a hobby. My perfectionist personality made me strive to always have a neat room. I always keep my paperwork, closet, and drawers clean and organized. Over the summer, I helped my mom with her night job. The job consists of cleaning an office building vacuuming, mopping, washing tables and changing garbage. To this day I don’t mind helping my mom clean it has become enjoyable. Most
A kitchen in a home keeps a mother satisfied and busy. I can confirm that by admitting that my mother spends most of her time in a kitchen not because she is forced to, but simply because that is her passion. Even though I cause various disasters in the kitchen my mom always likes to have a partner helping her out. As well as, being a picky eater does not stop me from complementing her on the meal she makes. Most importantly, as long as passion is an active ingredient it makes anything taste better.
A clean home is something that should come easy for anyone. Most people would consider anyone with a dirty and cluttered home to be lazy or filthy, but many are unaware of the psychological disorder Hoarding, which affects about 5% of the population, both men and women (Neziroglu, n.d.). Hoarding is the act of one having difficulties separating from their belongings. Although many confuse hoarding with collecting, there is a significant difference from the two. Those who collect, gather a specific product as a hobby or a profession, but those with a Hoarding disorder keep items without a notable worth and it accumulates in areas that were previously used for living. It is believed that hoarding is caused by a deficiency with a person’s information processing or led by a cognitive disorder, or a disturbing emotional shock (“The Hoarding Project”, 2016
This article overall purpose is to inform the importance of knowledge and practice of effective hand hygiene and hand care to prevent or reduce cross-contamination from healthcare personnel to patients (HCP). As the article’s author expressed at the introduction “ Healthcare-acquired infections are a major source of illness and death in hospitalized patients, and approximately 20%-40% of these infections are a result of cross-infection via the hands of healthcare personnel” (Eve Cuny 1)
More and more women work outside and inside the home. The double demands shouldered by these women pose a threat to their physical health. Whether you are an overworked housewife or an exhausted working mother the chances are that you are always one step behind your schedule. No matter how hard women worked, they never ended up with clean homes. Housewives in these miserable circumstances often became hysterical cleaners. They wore their lives away in an endless round of scouring, scrubbing, and polishing. The increased strain in working women comes from the reality that they carry most of the child-rearing and household responsibilities. According to social trends (1996), women always or usually do the washing in 79 percent of cases and decide the menu 59 percent of the time. Picking up the children at school or doing grocery shopping are just a few of the many typical household-tasks a woman takes on every day.
... (Demet Leblebici, 2012). “The indoor environment has the biggest effect on productivity in relation to job stress and job dissatisfaction”, says Leblebici, and “that the more satisfied workers are with their jobs the better the company is likely to perform in terms of subsequent profitability and particularly productivity”(Demet Leblebici, 2012). Lastly, Leblebici showed findings that “interaction was perceived to be the component to have the most positive effect on productivity, and distraction was perceived to have the most negative” (Demet Leblebici, 2012). The opposite of clean is dirty and dirt is a distraction in the workplace. According to Jennifer Benton, Sophie Harvey, and Simone Schnall, the authors of With a Clean Conscious, “cleanliness reduces the severity of moral judgments and can be driven by intuitive processes, rather than deliberate reasoning”.

Interior design is a complicated profession. It is sometimes referred to as interior architecture and often confused with interior decorating. It involves the design, organization and planning of an interior structure rather than just refinishing and furnishing existing interior spaces. It involves managing a business, hopefully meeting the desires of the client and delivering to them an interior environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. There is a lot more to interior design than first meets the eye.
