Short article/blog post: possible title ideas: - An Attitude of Gratitude - What are you grateful for today? "And if you were to count God's favours, you would not be able to number them; most surely God is Forgiving, Merciful." [Quran 16:18] WHAT IS GRATITUDE? Gratitude in its simplest form, is being thankful and acknowledging your abundant blessings. Imagine for a moment losing all your 5 senses. Imagine losing control of bodily functions we all take for granted every day. Pause and really think about the devastation of being helpless in the face of this enormous trial. Now imagine, one by one, being gifted all your 5 senses and bodily functions back. How grateful do you feel? How much do you now appreciate every part of your body …show more content…
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” Melody Beattie The quote above sums up how an attitude of gratitude can completely transform your life for the better. Living an intentional and purposeful life where we are consistently grateful for all our blessings allows us to be appreciative and think more positively about the state of our affairs. Gratefulness will sharpen your focus on the good in your life and help readjust your perspective when you feel overwhelmed by your struggles. This clarity will then help you address your problems, because putting them in perspective takes away their power to instil fear in you and keep you from progressing – it’s a win-win situation! It’s been well established that people who practice gratitude by taking time to reflect upon the things they're thankful for, experience more positive emotions, express more compassion and kindness, sleep better, feel more alive and even have stronger immune systems! WAYS TO BE GRATEFUL 1. Appreciate all the blessings you have in your mind and …show more content…
4. Express gratitude through action. Do good deeds out of gratefulness to your Ever-Merciful Lord, and know that you will be rewarded and attract abundance, prosperity, peace and success. 5. Create a habit of gratitude for a happier life. Start and end your day by being thankful. As simple as the discipline to write 3 things your grateful for everyday in your diary, or spending a few minutes of your day to ponder about all you have to be thankful for – you will soon find that the positive outlook that comes with gratitude will be second nature to you, making you of those whom Allah (swt) is pleased with and promises to give more to, because of their gratefulness. CONCLUSION: Science tells us that we are the stuff of exploded stars, left over from the galaxies around us. The atoms that make up our body could have been shared with the heart of a fallen star – and we know the stars and all of Allah’s creation glorify Allah (swt) constantly. Allah (swt) sustains all His creation with only the expectation that we are grateful to him through our worship; yet in His mercy, He does not take from us even when we are ungrateful or
Gratitude is a gift that the earth urgently needs. Consistent gratitude is a form of recognition of the gift and the giver. Daily gratitude can help eliminate the need for more and practicing more of only what we need. Gratitude leads to a society of contentment rather than one that's always in need of more. We human individuals have conventions for appreciation; we apply them formally to each other. We say thank you. “We understand that receiving a gift
One example would be something as simple as watch t.v and eating dinner, this is a habit we have all done before. In this situation the t.v turns on and you see a video of starving children on your t.v screen, you take a moment of silent. After you pity the children then comes the prayer to God, thanking God that you aren’t in that situation. This is the part when your self-gratitude comes out, instead of trying to go out and help the child or even pray for the child’s well-being, where stuck praying for ourselves. We try to express gratitude by thanking God for the roof over our heads and the foods he’s provided for us today, after all that’s done we get a good feeling in our hearts, and go back to eating dinner and talking about our day while the child is still starving. This is what Barbara was trying to talk about in her article, about how everything’s becoming a “you and you” relationship We as a social aren’t really trying that hard to help other because when we see a bad situation instead of going after it and trying to make it better we tend to focus on the our lives and selfishly bring it back to us and how grateful we are that it wasn’t us, and that isn’t helping anyone get
Its practice has been seen to be efficacious in healing and improving the quality of life of many people. Whether in terms of enhancing mental health or preventing illness, gratitude is one of life’s vitalizing ingredients. Clinical trials indicate that the practice of gratitude can have dramatic and lasting positive effects on a person’s life. It can lower blood pressure, improve immune function, promote happiness and well being, and spur acts of helpfulness, generosity and cooperation (Emmons & Stern, 2013). Emmons and Stern (2013) from their experiments, assert that gratitude has one of the strongest links to mental health and life satisfaction in any personality trait, more so than even optimism hope or compassion. They maintain that people who experience gratitude can cope more effectively with everyday stress, show increased resilience in the face of trauma-induced stress, recover more quickly from illness, and enjoy more robust physical health.
looking forward to, it will change my outlook on the day. According to studies “gratitude can
In the first section of his book (What You Have Received as Gift, Give as Gift) really make an impact on my views on living a fulfilled life. Everyone has a purpose and a gift on this life and everyone should know that they are somebody and everyone should know this to fulfill a good life. Everyone should work together and use our strengths to help others. God gave all of us a different and unique talent or gift and we should place that gift on others as God has done to us. When we showcase our gifts and talents, we should be grateful and show humility. We should not gloat our talents, but instead help others in order to gain a better understanding of others and the world around us. As Gula says “Gratitude is the virtue that gladly recognizes everything we have received as gifts to be shared, not possessions to be hoarded. Gratitude remembers, too, that God is the giver of these gifts” (Gula 30). My view on this is that gratitude and humility are one of the core values on living the good life because we can use these talents to gain understanding of our own self and others around us. Like God, we can use our gifts to also gain companionship, which God believes to be in reaching a good
During thanksgiving I really like to reflect on everything I have and it’s just a great way to remind myself to be more generous and to hold what and who I love dearly and show them that I care about them. Especially during this time of year when everything can be very stressful with the end of the semester and some mid terms, it gives me a chance to think on the less fortunate who don’t even get an education and would love the chance to get what I have. I’m so thankful for my availability to music and the abundance of caring people in my life with so many opportunities for me right at this moment. I realize that a lot of people take everything they have for granted and honestly everyone does this from time to time, I really like to just bluntly tell people that I care about them and that I’m thankful for them to be in my life at this point, even if it's just to remind myself to be more grateful towards them. Just think about what you have and be grateful for the good
secured by a bond of gratitude which men, wretched creatures that they are, break when it is to their advantage to do so; but
Be Merciful (Luke 6:31). "Be merciful just as your father is merciful." (Matthew 5:7): "Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them." The passage s teaches us mainly about being merciful to our enemy and God will be merciful toward us. Forgiveness of kind especially toward our enemy. We should not harm others even if they done bad things against us. We should show compassion towards others because if we don't people might not show compassion towards us. The passage told us that Jesus is merciful even towards his enemies. Perfect example of this is forgiving Jusus' enemy when he was put on the cross. Jesus even prayed for them to not punish them.
So much goes on, on a day to day basis and it might be hard to be consistently thankful. There are some days when it takes more conscious effort than others to not allow the bad to outweigh the good, but it can be done! Daily, I’m grateful for the blessings that the creator has bestowed upon me. Believe in purpose and understand that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it is best to not think, because overthinking can certainly lead to stress. You can think yourself into a headache, by sitting around and dwelling on the past. Where could that take you? Think about it. If it should have happened, it would have happened! We can’t change the past and it’s so important to get over it and move on with your life. Move up and away from the past, enjoy the now and look forward to tomorrow. Doing these things will help you live a life that is stress free!

...esult, the more directly one sees their personal efforts impact someone else, the more happiness one can gain from the experience of giving. Sometimes generosity requires pushing past a feeling of reluctance because people all instinctively want to keep good things for themselves, but once one is over this feeling, they will feel satisfaction in knowing that they have made a difference in someone else’s life. However, if one lives without generosity but is not selfish, they can still have pleasure from other virtues.

I am grateful for my life in many ways and for many reason, I was born 5 weeks premature and one of twins. Though my twin did not survive long enough for me to know him it gave me a purpose to try new things. Whenever I am scared of a new experience such as snow-boarding I think about how lucky I am to be alive and well. This thought helps me to spread my wings and embrace the unknown. Even simple things make me feel thankful, such as running in the rain or taking a walk with my dog or just a lazy Sunday afternoon with myself makes me think how great it is to be alive and here. I have always delight in the small moments in life and to think that they could never exist for me is depressing. Furthermore, being able to share my thoughts and feeling with people I love is something that brings me great joy.
"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver."
