What I learn in MGT 422: Production Management this semester is some useful information that will greatly benefit in the future. There were several topics we covered this semester but there were only a selected few that caught my attention. Those four things I learned this semester that caught my attention were: the productivity theory, the slowest worker theory, the assign and on-duty approach, and the process of making a prosthetic body part.
First, the productivity theory is where the output of a company is divided by the input to determine if the company will have a negative or possible percentage of productivity. For example, if a company has an output of 275000 and an input of 210000; the company will have a 1.19 percent of production which will be a good percent of production. The company will have a negative percentage of production if it has a higher amount of input than output. The productivity theory does not only apply to the input or output of companies; it is also used to determine the input of the time, week, and labor workers put in to make the output. The productivity theory intrigued me because it plays a significant role in the business operations to see if the company will be productive or not.
Second, the slowest worker theory is where the slowest worker set the pace for any business operations. Even if a person can complete the task at a faster rate, they cannot complete their assignment without the slowest worker completing their objective first. An example Dr. Prater used was the production of cars. If the person responsible for putting in the seats is the slowest worker, the operation of the other workers is delayed until that person completes their task. The slowest worker theory interested me becaus...

...ey had two different prosthetic, the AK and Bk prosthetic had to remove their prosthetic leg when they bathe and go to bed. I also learned that it does not require a lot of expense material to make a prosthetic leg, and they are very expensive but beneficial to have. The most shocking thing I learn during the trip was that they baked cookies in the oven they melt plastic sheet cover in powder which I though was very inappropriate.
This semester in MGT 422: Production Management, we covered a mass variety of material but there were a select few that peak my interest. Those things are: the productivity theory, the slowest worker theory, the assigned and on-duty approach, and the process of making a prosthetic body part. I have really enjoyed taking this class, and I have learned some key influential things I will cherish after I graduate from this prestige college.

I’m convinced that much learning has occurred in this course, both on your part and on mine. So I’m most interested in your telling me what you have learned, rather than asking questions on this exam that require you to demonstrate your learning. So, look back over the course and compose a page each on what you have learned about each of these course objectives.
I found this case study particularly interesting; in retrospect this class would have been extremely helpful prior to starting my husband’s business. I now see the importance of having a clear financial plan and projection, along with a strong command of your market share. My husband and I have been able to muddle through the areas were did not know or understand in running a business, but prior knowledge would have been a valuable

was based on estimation, cost control, contracts and procurement. This class was very important for me as I got to know about gantt charts, logic diagram, price of estimate, Project Risk, Payback Period and risk analysis. Gantt chart is a graphic display of the output on a time scale. It also shows the amount of work done or production completed in certain periods of time in relation to the amount planned for those periods. I also came to know that Senior management must create a corporate culture that supports project management and demonstrates faith in the methodology. If this is done successfully, then project risk can be prevented. I also understand the importance of payback period. payback period is the exact length of time needed for

An organization’s structure can affect its efficiency and productivity. The two main management theories are the Classic Theory and Theory X. Classical theory is defined as a management theory of a large organization in which management is led by intuition to motivate and control employees (Hamilton, 2008 p. 41). The Classic Theory can be divided into two large subgroups, scientific managers and bureaucratic theorists. Scientific manager’s focus is on reducing production costs while bureaucratic theorists focus is on administrative efficiency (Hamilton, 2008 p. 43). Although Theory X is not a large subgroup of the Classical Theory, it is under the classical theory and its crucial point is that workers are assumed lazy; therefore managers punish them to motivate them. Managers of Theory X believe that the average person; will avoid work because they do not like work, will not strive to achieve objectives, will avoid responsibilit...
When reading the book The Goal written by Eliyahu Goldratt, there were many lessons that I learned in order to have a clear and concise understanding of a positive level of productivity in a company. To have a positive level of productivity there are may components that are taken into consideration. Understanding what it actually means to be productive and how to increase the level of productivity by knowing the actual goal of the company that is trying to be reached and the components that go into the process of being productive. There are many factors that contribute to the level of productivity and being able to identify these factors is the key ingredient to having a successful level of productivity.
In this class, I was able to look deeper into problems that are occurring around me but also globally. There are so many global issues that
According to McGregor’s Theory X, it can best be described as employees who have issues with taking responsibility to go to work with the desire to work and who are resistant and who require pressure in order to perform their job duties and complete production. Theory X is considered to be negative as labeled by McGregor. (Robbins, 2013)
It is easy to sit in a class as a Professor gives a lecture and to regurgitate the information on assignments; however, the real challenge is internalizing the information and applying it to the real world. The great part of this course was that we were given specific

Was there an issue or a controversy that you became aware of in conjunction with this course content? Here are some specific questions for reflection. Please be brief, but concise. Taking this class this semester has really changed the way that I have viewed myself when it has come to work and the different companies that I have worked before. I have taken a psychology class before but I have never taken one that relates to management and organizations. This class has really helped me answer different questions such as why I was unhappy at some jobs, enjoyed some managers over others, and what motivated me to work hard at jobs. It’s good to learn that there are different terms and definitions for different feeling and things I experienced at jobs to know that their other people experiencing these things also. I will be going into a management position after I graduate, and this class helped me to learn many different ways to go about managing and things to avoid to keep a positive working environment.
We are accessible only to a limited quantity of resources around us. Considering the current usage and availability of resources, it has become very important for us to use them as wisely as possible. As an industrial engineer my aim is to find ways to eliminate wastefulness and enhance the efficiency of the process or service being provided. I would like to enhance my knowledge and in order to achieve this, I wish to pursue my Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering at the Arizona State University. I aspire to do my PhD after my Masters to fulfil my long term career goal of carrying out postdoctoral industrial research while becoming a tenured professor.
