All my life I have been drawn to help people by trying to find solutions for their problems or situations. Not only did I feel the pain of others suffering, I wanted to be the one to help ease the pain, even if I was not capable of permanently making it disappear. I was empathetic, and it was natural for me to want to understand emotionally and intellectually to assist others. This is a trait Inherited from my parents at a young age, and has made a marked influence on me. Although I did not know exactly what job title I wanted to pursue, I was fully aware that I was put on this earth to help better the lives of as many people as I could, if not everyone. I came from a family of eight, consisting of my parents, two brothers, three adopted female cousins, and myself. Although life happens, there are always ways to work around these occurrences, such as with my current job. After reviewing the given schedule for a full-time student in the Social Work Program, I know that I will be busy partaking in the courses at specifically scheduled times. My job will now be scheduled around my classes, unlike the past three years of planning my course schedule to be on campus one day a week to coordinate with my full-time job. This is just another obstacle that I am confident that I can balance to obtain my degree. Wayne State University's mission of creating and advancing knowledge, while preparing their students to thrive and positively impact local and global communities reflects in the program. I have parallel intentions for myself and coursemates as well. We are all reaching for the same goal of positively changing people's lives.
