Being responsible means having an obligation to do something, or having control over or care for someone, as part of one's job or role.” “Being responsible means being the primary cause of something, and so able to be blamed or credited for it.” This is what the dictionary says, responsibility, and being responsible means. To me, responsibility means nearly the same as the dictionary, taking blame, or being accountable for something. To me, being responsible means being entrusted with something, and fulfilling that trust, and if you are not able to fulfill that trust, then taking the blame for that.
Being responsible, as a student, means that we get the work we are assigned done. It means we come to class prepared. It means studying for our tests, and it means getting a good grade. Being responsible, as a teacher, means that the teacher makes sure everyone understands the work that is assigned. It means helping the students be prepared for their tests and quizzes. It means that, as a teacher, you must know the needs of the student, as well as try and provide for the those needs.

A responsibility is something for which one is held accountable. Often people say that one is responsible for one’s own words and actions; if something happens as a result of something one does one is responsible for it. But is it possible that something could be the result of various actions from different people who are therefore equally responsible, or is there always one person who is most responsible for the incident at hand? Such a situation where this question is relevant is present in the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles. In the novel, the main character, Gene, ponders his responsibility for the death of his best friend, Phineas or Finny. After reading Gene’s account of the events that led to Finny’s death the reader may observe that there are three people who are all partially at fault for Finny’s death. Gene, a classmate named Brinker, and Phineas all had something to do with the incident, but who was most responsible for it?

It is important for us humans to know that we must take full responsibility for our actions and maturely deal with any consequences that those actions may lead to. According to Ryon and Gleason (2013), “the first conceptualization of control was developed in 1966 by Rotter,” which is currently referred to as locus of control. Rotter defined locus of control as “the degree to which an individual expects that a contingent relationship exists between one’s behaviors and outcomes” (Ryon & Gleason, 2013). Fournier and Jeanrie reference Rotter’s study by explaining the two types of locus of control: “external control” and “internal control” (as cited in Rotter, 1966, p. 1). The purpose of Rotter’s theory was to examine “what causes reinforcement” whether it be an intrinsic or extrinsic factor (Kormanik & Rocco, 2009). Rotter measured “people’s general control expectancies” by using what is known as the “Internal-External Locus of Control Scale” (Fournier & Jeanrie, 2003).
Personal responsibility is the idea that people have full control over their actions. Things like basic health and hygiene can be seen as personal responsibility because they are actions that are carried out independently. In my life, I don’t have to shoulder responsibilities all by myself because my sister helps me balance things out. Although I am still solely responsible for the outcome of my decisions, it is easier for me to act reasonable with help by my side. Personal responsibility to me is the act of taking care of yourself while owning up to any mistakes you made.

When you decide to take the responsibility of something or someone then do it to your greatest ability and do not leave any stones unturned. Responsibility is a concept generally tagged towards adults, but during adolescence preteens are introduced to series of tests aimed to prepare them for what is to come. The time frame of middle school to high school shows preteens and teens that they have to make appropriate decisions when situations present themselves in their life. Dealing with responsibility of one’s own life is an ongoing challenge that takes time to get accustomed to. Instances related to adolescents taking responsibility for one’s self are apparent in social aspects, health-related aspects, and academic aspects.
Moral responsibility is when an agent does something good or bad morally for a specific event. For example, Donating money would be something you would be praised for in a moral sense, where as stealing would be seen as immoral. Free will would be required in moral responsibility. Without Free will, People would not be accountable for their actions, such as stealing a car or vandalism.

All that means is that you are able to take accountability for your actions, good or bad, and have to deal with the consequences. Once you have the ability to own up to your actions, is when you are able to be called responsible. So that is why the age at which people become responsible should be around 18 years old.
	I feel that responsibility can be directly tied into delaying gratification. The three main problems I see with responsibility are people either denying the fact that a problem exists, taking too much responsibility for the problems that do exist, and knowing the fact a problem exists but putting of solving the problem. The latter of the three main problems is directly related with delaying gratification because it involves putting off the difficult things.

A definition of responsible might be accountable, reliable, dependable, or trustworthy. Based on my observations and experiences, I believe many people have a problem translating that into their everyday lives. If something bad happens, it must be someone else's fault, or someone should have to pay.

The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
