The most important thing I learned this year in Life of Christ was the study of redemption. The bible uses three words that translate into “redeem”, one of them means to buy or to purchase. The concept is in the purchase of a slave, he is bought to be owned as property. Christ redeemed us in this sense so that we belong to Him. Another word translated redeemed means to buy something from something for another purpose; we are purchased by Christ from sin for the purpose of freedom in Him. The third word carries the idea of a purchase that pays off a debt, a price that is necessary to secure the freedom of someone or something. Christ paid our sin debt. The bible uses the third one most of the time when talking about us. Christ dying on the cross was the biggest form of redemption in the bible; he paid our debt, our sin, all so that we may be free and alive in him. I personally believe this is the most important thing we learned all year because we use it daily, we fall short and sin daily, and the only way we are still alive and still have an identity in Christ is because he chooses to redeem or buy us from our sin. …show more content…
Many people may not see this as a form of redemption, but in fact it was. God warned of the coming judgement, to wipe the entire world. He gave the opportunity to be redeemed by offering anyone who listened to Noah about God's warning and you will be welcomed aboard the ark and saved from the judgment, and after 120 years of preaching to everyone and giving them the chance at redemption and to be saved, only eight were saved, Noah and his family, even though there was room for many more to be able to fit onto the ark. This is an amazing story of Christ’s redemption, think about Noah, to be chosen to be the only person to spread His word then on top of that have only you and your family are saved out of everyone on
The concept of redemption often appears in psychology, religion, and numerous works of literature, including The Grapes of Wrath, as people feel they must make a sacrifice to repent for their sins or overcome their remorse. According to dictionary.com, redemption involves the act of making a sacrifice in order to be forgiven of past iniquities, or “atonement for guilt” (1). In psychology, “a redemption sequence, a demonstrably ‘bad’ or emotionally negative event or circumstance leads to a demonstrably ‘good’ or
Now, it is to be approached the redemption aspect in Hard Times. The main character, which will be in redemption, is Grandgrind. He is introduced at the beginning of the novel as:
The world-renowned novel, The Kite Runner was written by Afghanistan born American novelist Khaled Hosseini. Hosseini was born into a Shia Muslim family in Kabul that later in life decided to move to Paris. Hosseini was unable to return to Kabul due to the Taliban take over, this cause the Hosseini family to seek political asylum in America. The actions that Hosseini witnessed of his beloved home country influenced his novel with the themes of guilt and redemption. “The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness.” – Victor Hugo. In The Kite Runner the theme of guilt and redemption is shown through the character development of the protagonist Amir. Hosseini used Amir’s guilt of his past to grow the impression that with regret lies a hope for redemption.
Redemption is a word that contains various meanings. It could be referring to forgiveness, or recovery. Perhaps an escape from something. It is something that everybody yearns for, but cannot quite grasp in their hands. It is not something that we can look for and find. In fact, redemption often comes our way on its own when we expect it the least. Three characters from three stories go through different conflicts and redeem themselves in ways they never would have guessed. Some even found redemption with the help of others. Guy Montag from the novel Fahrenheit 451 finds redemption through freedom and liberation. The lawyer in the short story The Bet redeems himself by way of recovery. Edmond Dantes achieved his redemption through deception. These three characters redeem themselves in different ways, but something they all share is that they all go through the process of redemption and become reformed in some way.
With the field of philosophy, the concept of "desert" suggests the status of deserving a particular response based upon prior action. The term is often invoked within conversations dealing with blame and justice. However, philosophers disagree on whether desert justifies responsive behaviors such as punishment or revenge. This debate is particularly significantly within the context of a legal system that purports to punish criminals in a manner that is consistent with their crimes.
While the bible says that “the wages of sin is death”; (Romans 6:23) I immediately remember that God himself paid that debt for all humanity on the cross. In view of, no one can pay the in heritage of sin, therefore, redemption comes through the cross of Christ. The cross is the place where God 's divine mercy and justice shook hands for the first time in the human history. In the cross is where God paid the debt for everyone to come to atonement, to come to redemption, to come to justification, and to come to reconciliation. We can see it in every animal sacrifice, which is the prefiguring of the cross of Christ in the Old Testament demanded by God.
In the Bible, God is showing us who he is, who we are, a historical background of life and what will happen in the future. However, the main thread that is woven into the core of it all is his story of redemption. This redemption can only be found through the blood of Jesus
The story of Noah is a story that should remind us that there are consequences for abusing God's laws. We are to remember that we all have a responsibility to abide by the laws God put forth. It is a story of salvation. Noah was saved as opposed to the others who died in the flood. The others didn't do as God commanded them.
When we hear the word “redemption”, the first thing that comes into our mind is being saved, being free from either a bondage or anything. Everyone who is in bondage wants to be free, even the bible has the same meaning as to what redemption is which is being save from our sins. The word “redemption” has contextual meaning and is commonly referred to as being saved. In the 70s when people were being kidnapped, used and sold as slaves, what they all wanted was to redeem themselves, to be free from the pains, the sufferings they were going through and that is why Phillis Wheatly wrote her poems in order to help the other slaves be redeemed..

For any Christian, one of the most important questions a person can ever answer is, “How does a Believer know that they are for sure a Christian?” All Believers needs to have the assurance of their salvation. Finding the answer to this question brings confidence and contentment to the Believer’s life. Sadly, many people live their lives never really having an answer to this question. However, the Word of God is the starting point to find this assurance.
Forgiveness is a practice I have repeated Forgiveness is freedom. There is a key that opens the door to healing, happiness and peace, that key is forgiveness. Forgiveness starts with you and it is the greatest gift you can give yourself. Forgiveness of both self and others is the most powerful tool we have, and it is readily attainable to all of us. Take a step towards creating a kinder humanity by forgiving someone in your life.
Forgiveness is the act of releasing an offender of any wrong or hurt they may have caused you whether they deserve it or not. It is a decision to let go of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group of people. When we choose to forgive, we’re wiping the slate clean, cancelling a debt, or as I love to say, “Letting it go.” In the Bible, the Greek word for forgiveness literally means to “let it go.” This concept, “forgiveness,” is easier said than done. Majority of people find it very difficult to let go of offenses and hurts caused by others. I really do believe that most people desire to let it go, but we lack the knowledge of how to do it. As believers, we are instructed by God maintain an attitude of forgiveness.
Repentance is essential when it comes to salvation. One must repent of his or her sins to truly believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. As it has been correctly stated, “Repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin.” One cannot repent unless he or she believes in Jesus Christ. Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:25, “God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.” This sums up the relationship between saving faith and repentance.
Salvation or "being saved" means redemption from the power of sin. In practical terms, God 's salvation is what we need to get to heaven or attain eternal life. (Leitch, 2010) Salvation is a major theme in the many parts of the Bible and the Qur’an. It was written in to the stories so that followers of the religion would adhere to the rules and regulations set by God and achieve the common goal: eternal life in heaven. Salvation in religion will be explored through a brief overview of Salvation and what it means in the general sense, Salvation in the texts in the Bible, the teaching of salvation in Christianity and Islam and how this differs.
