It is interesting as well that one of the definitions of salt is it is used as a preservative. This can be compared to how Christ renews us daily with life in Him while without him we are under the curse of sin and death that destroys. Additionally, in Mark 9:50 and Colossians 4:6, salt is used within the verse to help us in relationship with one another bringing conversations of peace and grace. Therefore, the combination of all the definitions used for salt G217 describe a new relationship with Christ that we then extend to others that produces conversations of life, peace, and grace. As disciples of Jesus, we can only do this if we have Him fill us daily, a vertical time with our Lord and Savior, who then enables us to horizontally pour into others, to go forward on mission for Him, and display His
I found that there is always unintended events or problems that occur because of salt. For example, if the Egyptians did not depend on salt for mummification, would they still be as obsessed to own a large load of it? Also, if the church had not restricted meat, would the need for salt be forgot instead of advertised to the world? Salt: A World History is very bias based on the fact that the author believes salt is one of the greatest things to happen. Kurlansky repeatedly reminds the reader that without salt, certain wars or cuisines would never come to

Engagement with others is the most fertile ground for spiritual growth. Yet, salvation cannot come through individual questing nor good works in the community of the world alone. Salvation can only come when the journey and the work become
...terpretations and understandings about what Salvation is and its significance to to Christianity, an adaptive nature that allows for modern Christianity to develop and grow, the very definition of a living and dynamic religion.
As we have looked in to the Christian worldview of God, our humanity, the Son of God, and the restoration of our lives back into God’s purpose. Now we have a better understanding of what it means to be a member of the Christian community. God wants believers to dwell in union and in community having the same mind that is in Jesus Christ (Phil 2:1-11). This paper showed how God and Jesus Christ are at the fundamental core of all Christian beliefs regardless of the countless differences many Christians may
In the beginning of the story there is the issue of trying to convince Velma, the main character, that she is ill. There is another entity trying to help Velma through this first step of the healing process beside Minnie Ransom and this entity is known as the Mud Mothers. The Mud mothers are in the story as spiritual guides to Velma, they are trying to get her to understand the fact that she is sick and needs help. The mud mothers symbolize the richness of the earth and its protecting spirit, even though Velma views the mud mothers as a haunting spirit and a frightening figure they have come into her life to help her become well. This misunderstanding also shows how confused Velma is at the time, she does not she that the mud mothers are trying to lead her into a better state, but she fears them instead. Then there is the grain of sand that Velma sees her as. By her seeing herself as a grain of sand in an hour glass she is saying that she is feeling defenseless, as if the most insignificant animal can walk all over her and there is nothing that she can do about it in any way. Velma also thinks of the hour glass which is her protection from the outside world and everything that could possibly harm her. Inside this class she can move peacefully from place to place and feel safe. Then of course there is the title symbol of salt. Salt is a symbol of healing, purification, and of danger.
Recognizing God is a part of our vocation within community can be confusing for us, how can we serve God in the different venues of our life when the world teaches such differing views? We are encouraged to share our witness, testimony, and service within our families, workplace, and our social settings. Family includes the household within our life touching upon each role parent, child, and spouse. It becomes acceptable to compartmentalize the areas of our life and serve in comfortable areas. Consumerism and societal pressures challenge us to withdraw from the Spirit when we feel intimidated, out of place, or even unworthy of God’s involvement in our life. We are called to be “the salt of the earth”, accepting the challenge to unite God’s calling upon our whole-life. According to Migliore, “United in Christ by the power of the Spirit we are one community; we are members of one body and mutually dependent on one another. Recognizing God works with all areas of community unites families, workplace, and social settings together.

Common salt is necessary in everyday lives because it carries vital substances. It also has many uses, but is found to be used in food only one percent of the time (McGrath and Travers, 1999). It is used to clear ice and snow off of roads, during the production of chlorine, in livestock feeding, to preserve foods, and to improve the taste of some foods. (Aasen, et Al 1999).

... is to remember Christ, once again we are just confirming what has already bee said here. “The bread and the cup are not holy elements in and of themselves. But they do represent something that is very holy… recognizing it is a symbol of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the cross” (Laurie 2008:nn). Laurie above sums it up well, the wine and the bread are only symbols of what really happened on the cross 2000 years ago, we must not revere the symbols or the elements but Christ and His work on the cross
This is one of the few instances in Christianity where water is destructive; it is mostly a cleansing element, one in which sinners can become new again. Robert Frost’s poem “Once by the Pacific” gives another example of destructive water, and he uses a fearful tone combated with a protective tone to help create the theme of the impossibility to
...Today as a Christ follower, we will never be satisfied if our life is not bearing lasting fruit because we are not fulfilling the purpose for which we were “grafted “into the Vine. Let’s examine the “fruit” of our lives. Is it the kind of fruit that reveals the character of Christ? Let’s not settle for fruitless Christianity. God will do the work of making us fruitful – we must only abide, surrendering our lives to His mission of making disciples of all nations through us. The whole notion of mission is to stretch out to work the work of evangelism not through hierarchy, sovereignty, rather through humbleness, hospitality, affection love for the others. That is what Jesus who portrayed as the one who we do not deserve to untie His sandals straps in the first Chapter of John, later become feet washer, intimate with humanity leaving His equality with God.
Is it just a big mistake? Is it really the salt 'fault'? Are there any solutions to fixing this problem? These are some of the questions many people should be asking before deciding if salt is a friend or foe. Instead of just following whatever others say, people should know exactly how soil salinity is affecting crops and why this is happening.
