What Freedom Means to Me Freedom to me is a gift – a gift that contains the ability to give the recipient endless opportunity in life. Because of our beloved veterans , now and in the past, we have this gift bestowed upon us. Citizens in America are truly privileged to have this independance, because not everyone can live their lives with such fulfillment that freedom grants us. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a speech in which he stated that Americans are entitled to four freedoms – the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom of want, and the freedom of fear.
