Bridge To Terabithia is a 2007 movie filmed around two young characters, Jess Aarons and Leslie Burk. They both have very different backgrounds and lead very different lives. Jess has always been a lonely, bullied 8th grader who has a family with little money. All until the new girl in his class came along, she beat him in an important running race and changes his life completely. Her name is Leslie, she is a very creative girl who doesn’t let people knock her down. Her family life is sometimes simular to Jess’s, although she is much closer to her parents and doesn’t have any siblings to be close to. They both had problems making friends despite there different personalities. Leslie comes across to be a popular girl who has many friends when she just has trouble making friends. Jess is more quiet and shy, so he generally keeps to himself. Jess always was the the one to be bullied and he was the kind of kid that let it happen as well as let it get to him. Leslie on the other hand seemed to be the quiet achiever who doesn’t listen to nasty comments and lets its go, she often will get them back later. Jess doesn’t come across to be but he is a friendly boy when you get to know him. Leslie is a very friendly girl and would consider herself to be friends with everyone. Leslie could be described as a creative, encouraging and open young girl that always knows the right thing to say. In comparison, Jess is known as the shy one that rarely say anything at all, therefore they are different for this

They both live with there mum and their dad, although Jess has three sisters where Leslie is an only child. Leslie’s family are very close and are very loving towards each other, Jess on the other hand isn’t very close to his neither his mum nor his dad. Jess gets very jealous about the relationship that his younger sister has with there dad. Leslie’s parents both are writers, therefore they work from home, allowing them to have a strong connection. Jess’s dad works long hours at a local hardware store, the money he makes only just manages to pay the bills. His mum is a stay at home mum that spends most of her time worrying about money issues. These are a few reason that show how different their families can be. As Leslie’s parents are writers they spend a lot of time at work, so even though they are around they sometimes become distant from each other, a lot like Jess. During the movie, Jess witnesses Leslie and her family having fun, Jess had always wanted that with his own family but he unfortunately doesn’t have that.
