There are many differences between friends and family, such as whether the relationship will change, what kind of relationships they have and if they live together or not. Each parts show the essential differences between them. First, friendship will change while relationship won’t. If you lose touch with a friend for a long time, there is a possibility that you will become aloof. However, if you don’t keep in touch with your family members, your bond will not change. In addition, when we chat with our family members, we may not care about the feelings of them too much because we know each other so well that we seldom get angry with them. The deep familiarity make we mistake each other less and make jokes more freely. And those jokes and communications …show more content…
The closest communication always takes place in home which is a safe and comfortable site. As we all know, home is the warmest place where we are growing up quickly. When we go outside for a long time, we always miss home and family rather than friends. Before going to university, we often meet friends in school in daytime, but seldom live together besides traveling. Living together is a great chance to know each other better, and it is the reason why we may choose to get along with roommates in high school and university. However, no matter how close we are, we may not share every secret with each other, even if we can share all the happy things. But family is our heart harbor. When we are wronged or being misunderstood, we are always willing to pour out to our family members, largely because we live together for such a long time that we trust our family members most. On the other hand, living together from birth enable us to know well about each other’s virtues as well as defects, and accept all of them unconditionally, this is what friends can’t do. Even though we may live together with our friends in a dormitory, there are also a lot of things we can’t tolerate due to the different living environments before we meet each
Socializing with my family was like a learning/storytelling session. Like how Eli, his siblings, Sr. and the Fisher family, from the article “Becoming Literate: A Lesson from the Amish” written by Andrea Fishman, did many literate activities like storytelling, reading books, and playing games with each other. The more Eli got to participate in the family activities, he felt more confident in himself. That’s how I felt. I felt that after spending time with my family, and them telling me stories about their past and careers, made me feel better about myself and confident in going to college for
The essay “Homeward Bound” By Janet Wu reminds us that we can have feelings towards people who we are so different from us, also it shows us the importance of having this kind of relationship no matter the contrast. Wu talks about her and her grandmother. Her father was separated from his family in the 20th century, which made him move to the US. But her father has tried to contact his family for 30 years, until he came to know that his mother and brother were alive, so the first thing he did was to gather his family and go to China. When Wu first met her grandmother, they both had feelings towards each other, Wu says “And yet we communicated something strange and beautiful. I found it easy
From a young age most people have gone through many relationships with other people who were not their family. Thus, we often acknowledge these relationships as friendships. But the word friend is too broad, so people categorize their friends to several types. In her book “Necessary Losses: The Lovers, Illusions, Dependencies and Impossible Expectations That All of Us Have to Give Up in Order to Grow”, Judith Viorst divided friendships to six types. Those are convenience friends, special Interest friends, historical friends, crossroad friends, cross-generation friends and close friends. In my life, I have been friend with many people since I was little. Although I have met all six kinds of friend of Viorst, convenience friends and close friends are two important kinds of friends in my life.
Friendships between males and females are forbidden according to Islamic tradition. Men and women are normally separated during parties or gatherings. Even in school men and women are set apart to prevent any friendships between the sexes. women have instead remain close to the female family members and often visit each other 's homes. Men, however, are free to move about the country or cities and make friends with other men who are not family members. Even still, men tend to stick with their family members and while they might have one or two friends whom are not related, these friends are more acquaintances or colleges then actually friends. For instances, in my family I am close to my sisters even though I am far from them, I call my sisters
Family is like being on an airplane one minute you see the cloud outside your window then next is birds. The LePes family is the distance between the clouds and the birds. No matter how close or far we are away from each other the distance always shades away. Everytime I try to reconnect with one of my family members its like im taking one step backwards in the wrong direction. For example, we aren't that normal family who sits around the table asking how each of our days were. Were that family that eats mcdonalds or fast food every night. My mother use to cook food, clean everything however things are completely different now. Now my parents are divorced and have different husbands and wifes. Jennier my mother got married to this man named
A guilty feeling surged through me as I snuck out of church early, but I could not wait any longer to show my friend, Jonathan, my new Chevrolet Cavalier. As I raced out of the parking lot, I heard ambulance sirens in the distance, and I felt a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach as if butterflies were fluttering around trying to get out. I paid the feeling no mind as I merged onto the interstate at Gray and headed toward Johnson City. Little did I know those sirens would change my life forever.
She doesn’t know this, but she changed my life. She was there for me when it seemed like no one else was. When most of my friends were dissolving around me and I just didn’t feel like I could do anything right, she was there, and she made everything seem okay. It didn’t matter that I was inevitably going to graduate with a GPA a tenth of a point lower than I wanted, or that my director told me that he was disappointed in me because I just didn’t seem focused lately, or that my other friends just weren’t talking to me anymore. It didn’t matter because she was there and she made me feel safe. She’s my best friend, and I love her and admire her for so many different reasons.
Friends could have been in the same situation at a different time, or are in the exact same situation now. Friends are the ones who will give the honest truth, even though it may not be what needs to be heard. Family means true friends that will be with them during the hardest times. One quote that is said to many people when dealing with a tough time is “friends are the chosen family”. Many people have their parents tell them that they can pick their friends, but they can’t pick their family.
“A family can be defined as a set of people related by blood, marriage or in some other agreed upon relationship, or adoption, who share primary responsibility for reproduction and caring for member of society". (Schaefer, 2009, p. 288) This leads to a wide open range of interpretation on the exact definition of how a family is truly made up. Depending on your culture, religion, or geographical location a family may represent and be comprised of many different ideals and social norms. There are many theoretical perspectives that have their own interpretations on the subject of what a family is and how it is perceived. I will attempt to expound on three of these perspectives; Functionalism, Conflict, and Interactionalism.
Family by its nature is a social unit wherein children grow up and it acts like the socialization agent. Children receive their earliest and most consistent socialization here in the family. In a family it is very important as to how parents cater the needs of their children and how children take care of them in return. Parents as well as the child are very important part of the developmental process, as it is the parents who will shape the children as what they will become. The parent child relationship influences each other and together they shape the relationship they engage in it. Family is a social unit where in all the members living together is related to one another. Family is regarded
There may be times where no one is there for you, your friends betray you in some way, and the only one that will be waiting with open arms are you family. It is very important to always cherish and appreciate the love, comfort, help, and attention that your family offers you because if you don’t, you may just end up regretting it in the end. A family does not necessarily have to be considered blood. If you have close friends that you see as a brother or sister because of their loyalty to you and the way they treat you, they are considered family. A family will always bring peace, love, and happiness, and though there may be times that you bump heads with your family members, you always run back to each other and speak as if everything is perfectly
During our lifetime, many relationships are formed with family, friends, and significant others. These relationships are key to forming friends, work bonds and intimate connections with others. Family, friends and intimate relationships are necessary for everyday life, below I am going to discuss interpersonal relationships with each and challenges that may come.
There are many things to love in life. Family and friends, pets and even hobbies can be loved. While I personally believe that love is a very strong word, I do have things I love. Please join me in learning more about myself as I explain why family and friends have a special place in my heart.
Those who value both their family and friendship relationships enjoy greater health and higher happiness. While no one should solely rely on friendships, these do have an impact on a person's well-being. This gives a better understanding and allows a person to thrive both physically and mentally. Just as with family relationships, having good friends can enhance the ability to cope with stress and learn how to grow as a person. College is a time for change. For most people it is a time when they find their way and become more independent. They will seek out new things, make mistakes, and learn how to manage time and energy. When life becomes stressful it will cause the need to rely on friends that are going through the same thing. When meeting back up with old friends, they may seem more mature or completely different. The way college changes friendships will be different for everyone. No two friendships are alike, so separation of going to college will affect everyone differently. Some friends will stay close so there will not be many changes and they will probably still text every day. While others will drift apart and might not even talk at all. College students will make new friends, maybe a new roommate, people in their classes, or in the cafe. There are a lot of opportunities to meet new people. Even with old friends in college, those friendships might change and meeting new people will cause one to grow
After writing about my history and the themes I selected, I have learned a lot about who I am in society. I have realized that I am an average girl that has not experienced much of life. During this analysis I have come to realize I have not had much contact with other family types or other cultures.
