In today’s world, it’s not the easiest thing to believe in God. Lots of people not only doubt, but also criticize, the idea of God. Now, there’s no denying that religion certainly has its flaws. Religious texts do not stand up to the scrutiny of modern science. The theory of evolution practically makes the Book of Genesis nothing more than fiction. Having said that, there are so many other things that bring me to worship every Sunday. Maybe the Bible has its flaws, and the Church has had its own fair share of screw-ups, but I stand by my belief in God. Since religion has become a part of my life, I have become a better person. Me, my family, and my friends all feel part of a community when we attend Christian church.

No matter what I am going through in my personal life, I spend the time at church just realizing that there is so much more to life than all the petty things we allow to bring us down. We love to focus on ourselves and put ourselves at the center of our own universes. All of our problems become our focus and they drive us insane. So many people get so caught up in their own issues that they forget that life is so much more than our problems. This is especially true in the context of a community of people, where arguments and hurt feelings are bound to happen. When I think about all the people that have frustrated me or have wronged me, I realize that many of them are my best friends and family. Even the people that I love let me down sometimes. They are the people I love. And often, I find myself holding grudges against certain people for the things that they have done, but the truth of the matter is, the best way to get over the wrongs is to forgive those that wronged us. We spend so much time being upset about all the little things that people can do to hurt us in our lives, but at the end of the day, we’re all humans. We all wrong one another from time to time, because none of us are perfect. And many people argue that they don’t need a church or a God to know that.
