Company Spotlight: Wella Wella is to sponsor Red Nose Day in March this year, introducing a limited edition red hairspray to coincide with the event, which takes place in the UK on March 11. With each sale of the spray, Wella will donate 50p to Comic Relief, which raises money for projects in both the UK and Africa. The company will no doubt be hoping the sponsorship will raise its profile as a charity-giving and fun-loving company, and follows a similar sponsorship in 2003, when Wella came on board as the official hair partner of Red Nose Day 2003. In that year, the company provided a free sachet of hair gel for customers who bought a red nose.

Advertisements have been utilized for many years to sell products. The very popular company Old Spice, who is one of the top men’s hygienic production companies, is well known for their series of humorous advertising campaigns that uses references to the ideals of what a stereotypical masculine man is supposed to be characterized as. The Old Spice commercial, “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” that first appeared during the Superbowl in 2010, illustrates that the company successfully utilizes the influence of humor, gender stereotypes, and ethos and pathos to connect emotionally with the audience and persuades men to start using Old Spice Red Zone body wash so that insecure men can become more of a masculine man that females will desire.
Man is a social product." Additionally, society is our comprehensive understanding of the reality that confronts us, externalization is the physical and mental outpouring of human beings into the world, and objectivation is the process by which the externalized products of human activity attain the product through internalization (Berger and Luckman 1967:61). This perception of beauty that everyone in America consumes either voluntarily or forcefully is described by many different definitions with common aspects. Jennifer Milland of Dove's Real Beauty Campaign categorizes beauty by: long, shiny hair; clear, soft skin; cosmetics; thin body; straight, white teeth; and trendy clothes." In the documentary "Good Hair", African American's describe the socially constructed image of 'good hair' as: white hair; the lighter, the brighter, the better; straight, flowy, and 'relaxed' (Rock 2009). Because of this, they face the pressure of measuring up to an impossible standard. In an effort to artificially display their commitment to this standard, they have formed a multi-billion dollar industry that relies on India's biggest export of hair to blend in with the white
The Old Spice Campaign that I chose is a one-sided message is the communications in which only positive attributes or benefits of a product or service are presented. The message in the ad is one-sided because it is only mentioning the positive aspects of the deodorant, it does not have any negative aspects on the ad. Old Spice advertisements always has a male presence, and it is usually a famous person. They usually have different types of male celebrities ranging from actors to athletes. Old Spice uses the humor appeal to get their message across to their target market. In their advertisements there is always something that stands out to appeal to the consumers. With this campaign it centers on the Old Spice Man answering questions from the viewers, and doing different activities, being different places and having costumes on. The ending of the commercial always has a surprise ending leaving the viewer astonished. The campaign appeals to the humor appeal because it uses humor, but not too much so that consumers can pay attention to the product that is being advertised. On the Old Spice YouTube channel for the commercial in the description box it says “We’re not saying this body wash will make your man smell like a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are sure insinuating it”, which is appealing to humor because you know that your man is not going to smell like it, but are suggesting that they would

Organizational performance is a result of business interaction with its internal and external environment (Houben, Lenie & Vanhoof, 1999). There are a variety of internal and external forces that either stimulate or compromise the organization's performance in achieving objectives or goals (Houben, et al., 1999). An analysis can identify and evaluate areas within or outside of the organizations to provide information for leadership. The analysis can be done by internal personnel or external experts. Experts are often used to identify, monitor, forecast and assess environment trends (Swayne, Duncan & Ginther, 2008). Often the SWOT analysis is used to review internal and external areas in the four components; strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats.

...their message and following their beliefs of “true beauty”. Without further research or a deeper analysis, the advertisement truly does make girls appreciate their beauty over their flaws (this advertisement even opened my eyes after the first time I watched it). After acknowledging the major hypocrisy, and the sales increase of 20% in 2005, the year after the campaign was launched, the true winner here is Dove, rather than women (Joni).
The SWOT analysis is a useful tool for identifying our personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to our plans and goals. According to a “Fuel My Motivation” article (2010), this analysis considers internal influences that can positively or negatively affect our ability to achieve our goals. The internal factors are our strengths and weaknesses. Also considered are opportunities and threats, which are external influences that can have a positive or negative impact on the ability to achieve our goals. I will share how the self-assessment instruments and self-exercises in this course have contributed to assessing and understanding my strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss techniques I will use to leverage my strengths and understand my weaknesses. In addition, I will consider opportunities that I can take advantage of and the threats that can possibly impede my progress.
Swot Analysis is one of the tools used in business to achieve a success. The main formula for success is to define visions and wants. Swot Analysis is a planning and analysis tool (Koch 2000). It evaluates many factors that will affect the achievement of projects or business ventures. The Swot Analysis Model was created by management consultant- Albert Humphrey. This module can be used by many projects: individual, through business or organisation. One of many values of this tool is to focus and identify all the factors which can influence process to achievement vision of the goal. Humphrey includes four main factors of this model: internal, external, positive and negative. The Model represents strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. At the top there are forces which are internal for the organisation or unique for the individual. At the bottom there are external forces, which can affect the individual or the organisation. On the left side there are positive forces which help promote the goal, on the other side there are negative forces, which treat achievement of the success. (Humprhey 2005)
