At any given time in any given weather condition, bodies of water are effortlessly crashing onto the shore. These are known as waves: the waves that people smoothly surf in, the waves that bring in the excess seaweed, and the waves that create a unique movement in the ocean for the people on Earth to observe. However, the meaning of waves is not limited to its literal definition. Waves are the continuous flow of positive and negative attributes. Cycles of positive and negative attributes can be found in nature. In nature, waves can either bring happiness or shame to people walking along breathtaking shorelines. Beaches, one of the most admired geographical features on this planet, are formed by the movement of waves. According to the National Geographic Society, “Over many years, water and wind wear away at the land. The continual action of waves beating against a rocky cliff, for example, may cause some rocks to come loose.” By removing previous cliffs and People often say “just go with the flow”, directly implying for a person to act on impulse. However, going with the flow involves more than acting on instinct. Going with the flow is when one entrusts themselves enough to accept his or her emotions and carry forward. In nature, going with the flow indicates allowing Mother Nature to change the various environments on Earth. Both these ways of going with the flow do not focus on what may happen as a consequence. That is what makes a meaningful life, a wave. Waves move forward regardless of the obstacles that they could possibly encounter. Whether in a job or a relationship, the repeated positive experience and negative experiences create what is known as life. The literal positive and negative experiences can be defined as the ups and downs but the figurative definition of those experiences is a wave. No matter where a person is or what they are doing, they are experiencing the wave of

Longshore drift is a process by which sediments are transported from one place to another. When this process occurs, beaches, spits and sandbars are accreted over time. If the process of longshore drift is altered by factors such as stronger winds and stronger currents, beach erosion begins at a faster rate and this may result in many serious problems. The main stakeholders of longshore drift are resort owners. They rely on people to visit their resorts and enjoy the beach. However, if longshore drift erodes t...
The tone of the waves is "thunderous and mighty" and the gulls are looked upon as "uncanny and sinister."(Crane391). Furthermore, the crew fears the upcoming danger of the sea, blaming it as the "play of the free sea."(Crane390). Meanwhile, many beautiful colors such as "emerald", "white", and "amber" decorate the sea, another name of nature.(Crane390). What matters here is that the crew 's attention focuses not on the beauty of nature but on the danger they face. In other words, people are likely to interpret natural phenomenon based on their prejudices, thus distorting the features of nature as
Some of the most popular uses of water in literature include representing themes such as life, death, the soul, a cleansing, as well as creation and destruction. The sea in particular has often been cast in the past as its own ominous presence. A being of uncertainty and infinite depths, the sea is often a mysterious force in literature with many different meanings. The sea can be seen as the start of new beginnings and adventures as well as a dark end all. Throughout The Awakening, water is used to symbolize fear, frustration, rebirth, and liberation.
He doesn’t understand why what he has seen or read in magazines isn’t true, but he comes to realize that it’s not what you see, literally it’s what you see when you can’t see. This also applies to the action in Ground Swell, you can see the wind blowing the waves and the waves crashing against the boat, but you cannot fully see the picture which can lead to confusion by the person viewing the painting, but you can see people in the picture and when you look at things from their point of view you can then see that their focus is on the buoy that is afloat. This buoy is also a symbol of unknowing. For the painting, the repetition that makes up the waves shows small movement in the art, which is a part of minimalism.
Using the concepts of flow from Csikszentmihalyi, these authors hypothesized that by experiencing flow at work would create a positive leadership role, which would eventually lead to a great satisfaction in their job (Smith, Koppes, and Vodanovich). When a person is satisfied with their job, they are more likely to be organized and perform to their greatest capability. Some researchers have attempted to use flow to measure the relationship between the usage of flow and the attitudes of the employees while doing their job. The more an employee uses flow in their day-to-day work life, the happier the employee will be in the well-being of life (Fullagar and Kelloway). Using psychological flow in everyday work life has been proven to be extremely beneficial in creating a happy employee that is satisfied with the work that he or she is doing. Researcher Bakker has said that while experiencing flow, a person should feel an intense feeling of accomplishment and fulfilment, just while performing the task that they are expected to do everyday in their jobs (Bakker). Contrary to Csikszentmihalyi’s definition of flow, researcher Bakker (2008) defines “flow as the experience of complete absorption, enjoyment, and intrinsic motivation.” This definition is different from Csikszenmihalyi’s because of Bakker’s lack of focus on one specific task at hand. Csikszenmihalyi’s definition of flow is more precise for completing a task that requires stress as to where Bakker’s is a broad sense of satisfaction when completing any task. Having many different researchers offer their perspective of psychological flow is
Rough waves are an open water phenomenon, in which winds, currents, nonlinear phenomena cause a wave to briefly form that is far larger than the "average" large occurring wave of that time and place. rogue waves can form in large bodies of freshwater as well as the ocean. The first rogue wave confirmed with scientific evidence,it has a maximum height of 25.6 metres (84 ft).rogue waves can also reach up to about 30 meters or 100 feet high. A rogue wave estimated at 18.3 meters (60 feet) in the Gulf Stream off of Charleston, S.C.

When we are engaged in "flow" we must be doing something that we enjoy, and as Csikszentmihaly so aptly states, "Allocation of time, presents difficult choices that eventually determine the content and quality of our lives" (146). It is important to note that these activities during "flow" are good only in small amounts; because in large doses can consume our lives and even be harmful. People who do spend large amounts of time on one activity will be consumed by it and not have room for anything else in their lives, so this can actually cause unhappiness. It is important to note that during a "flow" experience people have not been shown to have a increase in happiness, but only after the activity is completed they are in a more positive state. Over time small doses of flow can lead to an overall increase in well-being and happiness over a period of time doing these activities, Csikszentmihaly tells us, " The prerequisite for happiness is the ability to get fully involved in life" (150). From this we are able to learn and focus on building balance, happiness and we must experience everything life has to
Think about it for a moment, each time a surfer goes to a beach, waxes up his board, and surveys the waves from the shore, he is preparing to go into the water to do something quite amazing. This person is willing to test not only his limits, but also the limits of what the ocean can do to him. He wants to battle the power of the entity that covers over seventy percent of the earth, manifested in the form of a wave, and ride it for all its worth.

“Do what feels right” is something that children are told throughout their life. Per contra by the time that they become adults this thought philosophy is seemingly foreign. Many auspicious people waste away their life away by applying wisdom to their situation rather than following their gut for what actions they should perform. The poem “Since feeling is first,” by American poet E.E. Cummings and “Feels Right,” a 2016 song written by MYRNE & JPB, featuring Yung Fusion, both share a similar message of following what feels right in life. This concept is directed towards the aspects of life involving relationships, and jobs. Many people have found life success when they no longer listen to the thoughts and perspectives that other people impose
People don't truly accept life for what it is until they've actually tasted adversity and went through those misfortunes and suffering. We are put through many hardships in life, and we learn to understand and deal with those issues along the way. We find that life isn't just about finding one's self, but about creating and learning from our experiences and background. Adversity shapes what we are and who we become as individuals. Yann Martel's Life of Pi shows us that adverse situations help shape a person's identity and play a significant role in one's lief by determining one's capabilities and potential, shaping one's beliefs and values, and defining the importance and meaning of one's self.
