“Do what feels right” is something that children are told throughout their life. Per contra by the time that they become adults this thought philosophy is seemingly foreign. Many auspicious people waste away their life away by applying wisdom to their situation rather than following their gut for what actions they should perform. The poem “Since feeling is first,” by American poet E.E. Cummings and “Feels Right,” a 2016 song written by MYRNE & JPB, featuring Yung Fusion, both share a similar message of following what feels right in life. This concept is directed towards the aspects of life involving relationships, and jobs. In “Since feeling is first“ it mentions “we are for each other: then / laugh, leaning back in my arms / for life’s not a paragraph” (Lines 13-15). E.E. Cummings is trying to express how life does not follow a particular layout and that sometimes if things feel right then they should be followed. Another version of this interpretation is mentioned in “Feels right” when they state “There's no telling you're the right girl / So I can only say that it feels right” (MYRNE & JPB). MYRNE & JPB are expressing how there is really is no validation that can occur when people are finding a future partner. Consequently, all relationships are stemmed off people believing in what they feel. If there was some type of validation process that could occur to show whether two people will be compatible in the long run then relationships would not be stemmed off a “just feels right” mentality. Resulting in people knowing definitively ahead of time if things would work out in the long time..
