According to the author of Best of: Claude Monet, Monet spent the year prior he painted Mouth of the Seine in Honfleur where he worked along side Boudin, and Jongkind. (Brodskaya, 137) “The combined teaching of Boudin and Jongkind proved formative for Monet’s future direction as a landscape painter.” (Isaacson, 2004) Monet also produced several more of landscape paintings that hold some similarity to the Mouth of the Seine. Monet’s painting titled The Green Wave, 1865, and Seascape, Storm, (1866), are also the paintings of the seascape that also contains the similar subjects of the sky, ocean, and sailboats. Monet executes these two paintings with longer and heavier brushstrokes when comparing to The Mouth of the Seine. The famous Manneporte, Etretat, 1883, is also another painting that contains similar subject and techniques used. It seems as if Monet uses the same technique to paint the ocean. Although Manneporte bears much more Impressionistic style and the color schemes are more lively and energetic. However, the oceans are extremely alike to one
Typically, painters applied paint very thinly to economize, because paint was expensive. The physical characteristics of paint was not as important as the picture that the paint was used to
The. Dorne, Albert. A. Is Illustration Art a Good Idea? Ed. Walt Reed and Roger Reed.
Acrylic paints have become so very popular since its introduction into the public market in the 1950’s. For hundreds of years, the artist had to contend with the peculiarities of their chosen medium. The watercolorist had to contend with paintings very easily damaged by moisture, and the oil painter had to wait an interminable amount of time for his painting to dry. Acrylic paint …………..
There is no right or wrong way to create art. Philemona Williamson preferred oil painting on a canvas. The oil paintings included bright, vivid colors like pink, yellow, green, and more. Additionally, Philemona had a limited amount of space to do artwork on and everything always appeared as if it was being pushed off the edge. In contrast, Burchfield mostly did watercolor and sketches on paper. While he did incorporate some color, the colors were very neutral. Unlike how Philemona had a limited amount of space for her work, Burchfield continued to add paper until he finished. The two created their artwork based on memory and how they remembered the
At an early age he developed a love for drawing. After many years, hardships and losing his wife, Monet would finally gain financial and critical success during the late 1880s and 1890s. Many of his well-known paintings would come from this time. My favorite thing out of everything we have read and looked at in class is Sunrise at the Sea, by Claude Monet. Paintings have always spoke louder to me than words, when I look at this painting I make so many more connections than I had with anything else. I grew up always around the water, so I could see every detail as if I was there. I can imagine the ocean and the waves it brings. I can see the boats, and the way the clouds protect the sun from shining through. I can smell the sea water and the sea life, such as seaweed that is brought up to the shore. I can feel the breeze blowing in my face and the light splashes of water hitting me after the waves strike the side of the boat. I can hear the waves strike the side of the boat, the wind as it travels, and the low or ever high whine of a boat motor traveling. To me a picture is a thousand words, and allows a perception that no poem has ever given
I was very pleased with my picture in watercolour pencils but the collage didn’t turn out to well. After this I made a page of leaves drawn in 2 styles two in pencils and two in rubbings. I was pleased with the leaves done in pencil but the rubbings didn’t look that nice as you can only get a single colour and no shading. Next continuing with the vegetation theme I made a picture of Monet’s water lilies. I was pleased with this as it allowed me to experiment with pastels and enabled me to create a strong colourful picture. Next we made a copy of a picture of Jesus on the cross in acrylic this painting was done by Gauguin. This enabled me to experiment with a new style of painting with its simple lines and bright colours. The next piece of art is the piece that I’m happiest with out of my entire book. It was a copy of a print of black and white natural objects shaded with dots and lines. This was a completely new style of shading for me and it is one that I like a lot. Then I started developing my final art piece for the year I took a section of my garden and drew and shaded it in black pen after this I did 2 or 3 more pictures of this section of my garden one in pencil one in collage and one in acrylic.
“When you go out to paint, try to forget what objects you have before you, a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, here is a little square of blue, here is an oblong of pink, here is a streak of yellow, and paint it just as it looks to you and the exact color and shape, until it gives you your own naive impression of the scene before.” From a young age, Monet loved drawing and being outside. He was accepted to the Salon of 1865 but after showing his work, he struggled financially. “Monet became so despondent over the situation that, in 1868, he attempted suicide by trying to drown himself in the Seine River.”
In his first paint the Water Lilly Pond he uses very light colors that are mostly primary colors. Claude Monet can be described as painterly because of his use of light brush strokes in his paintings. I also noticed that most of his paintings used primary colors and never used lines to depict shapes.
Ever since the arrival of the Renaissance, new ways of approaching art physically and emotionally have been introduced by some of the most prominent men of the rebirth and by many lesser known people. The innovators of the Renaissance have brought into the art world many new characteristics and techniques to paintings and sculptures. From experimentation, to observation, to getting in touch with the human body and mind, artists of the time period were able to learn and build upon that knowledge. The information and innovations they contributed sculpted the modern world of creativity for us to learn, use, and develop our own styles for future generations in the light of artistic encouragement.
Yi Hao painted all over the paper and described his painting as fish moves in and out of the water. When he painted at the corner of the paper he describes it as fish go away. When he painted in the middle of the paper he described it as fish came back. Yi Hao was able to articulate his painting creatively. His imaginary skills are well developing at the right pace.

Oil paint is a paste made with ground pigment and a drying oil such as linseed oil mostly every artist used this oil paint. On Eugene Delecroix his had actually colors like red, blue, yellowish, and brownish to oil paint. I think Eugene Delecroix added some dye the oil paint to give it some color probably from plants such as flowers. On Picasso he used more of value color from the element value colors are more like black, white, and shadows from the objects standing in the
At this point you don't know what is wrong and what is right, you have no clue what you want to paint. As your sitting there you are thinking, then you come up with an idea. You think of trees and grass, of water and sky. You start to see pictures and colors form into a beautiful picture. But what to do next? Should you continue to create a master piece or should you let another person show you? You decide to watch to see what others would do in your position, and you learn from that to start on your own master piece.
