Giving up is an easy thing to do. Even when the outcome can be so great the pain, the fatigue, and the feeling of just wanting quit can sometimes seem very well worth it. Sometimes people would rather save the effort and just say that "they tried" or "they almost did." Others, however, will keep pushing through to accomplish their goal so they can say "I did." They overcome the exhaustion and the feeling of just wanting to give up. These people have endurance in whatever it is they do. Endurance isn't something physical, everyone can complete a task, some may be able to do it faster or better, but anyone can do anything with the right mindset. There is no such thing as physical endurance, it is all mental. It's giving it everything your body says you can give, and then using everything your mind you says you can give. It is telling yourself that you can do it, that you can do it no matter how hard it is. Steve Prefontaine once said, "To give anything less than everything is to sacrifice the gift." No matter the fatigue it brings to them because they know that there is a possibility that the end result will be great. Endurance is the boxer after twelve rounds of getting pummeled into the ground, which manages enough strength to knock out their opponent. Endurance is the entrepreneur trying to start a business, that even though he keeps getting turned down from investors, but he keeps contacting more people despite the fact that he's losing money because he knows that someone out there will invest. Endurance is the heart surgeon that has to do fifteen hour long surgeries on patients. They have to stay alert and focused while on their feet for the duration of that time for the benefit of someone else for the whole duration of the surgery.
