A trip I would like to take is a trip around the world. If I was able to take a trip around the world the first place I would visit would be the Aztec ruins in Mexico because it was always something that I was fascinated with those things as a kid and while in Mexico, I’ll visit Cancun and just go relax on the beach and go to one of the many attractions that are present all while eating at authentic Mexican restaurants and go scuba diving in the ocean to look at the wildlife. Also, another reason I would like to visit Cancun is because of the weather near the beaches and how clear the ocean water is. After visiting Mexico my travel takes me to a different part of the world which is Italy where I will be visiting the Roman Colosseum because
After reviewing the Cultural Experience assignment, I ponder on a cultural experience event that I could participate in. One day, my niece’s teammate’s mother, mentioned that her oldest daughter was having a Quinceañera. A Quinceañera is a traditional, coming-of-age celebration for Latin Americans girls, on their fifteen birthday. The young woman and her family are celebrating, the girls’ transition to womanhood. Outside of television, I knew very little about Quinceañera’s.
In the 1940's the pachuco subculture emerged within the urban youths of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. These pachucos were deterritorialized from Mexico and the United States. While the United States wasn't fully assimilating the pachuco subculture, Mexico was trying to distance themselves from the subculture. This formation of the cross-border subculture helped create the pachuco as a manner and persona. The pachuco was also known to many on both sides of the border due to Mexican comedian and film actor Germán Valdéz who created played a pachuco character Tin Tan in films.
Both La Ciudad (1998) and El Norte (1983) show the lives of immigrants in the United States and how they face poverty and destitution. While La Ciudad shows the perspective of various different immigrants already in the United States through vignettes, El Norte follows a brother and sister on their journey to the United States and shows what their life is like once they arrive. Both films, however, have common themes of poverty and destitution for immigrants. For instance, both films show the disappointing reality they face once they actually make it o the US. In addition, both films explore how immigrants are pressured to only looking out for themselves and how they stand up to that pressure.
The thought of traveling sounds so fun, interesting and spontaneous. The two places I hope to travel to the most are Puerto Rico and Germany. I would like to travel to Puerto Rico because I would love to learn more about the place I was descended from. My reasoning for wanting to travel to Germany is because it’s outside the U.S. I have never been to another country, and I’m curious to see how different it is from here. I also picked two places that are very different from each other, so I could have a total different experience on each trip. These two places have some similarities, but they are more different then not. Overall, I would just love to explore and see a place that is so different from the customs, traditions,
Very little clothing is required. There is very little pressure, very little rush, and very little reminiscent of the world. The Cancun area is undeniably a fabulous place to take a vacation. It has luxurious hotels, exciting activities, and mysterious sightseeing tours.
new people as well as see new cultures. It has always been a dream of mine to travel
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
Everyone needs a good place to spend his or her vacation. But I have chosen Haiti as my favorite place because that’s my country and that’s where I was raised, however; some people claim that Haiti is filled with poverty. Actually, Haiti has a variety of growing cities. For example, Port-au-Prince, which is the capital, Jacmel, Cap-Haitian and more. The current president is Jocelerme Pivert with a unitary semi-presidential republic. Haiti also has a population of ten million people. Here are the three main reasons to why you should visit Haiti: for the weather, the food, and also the beauty.
I learned more than I ever imagined on my summer study abroad trip to Costa Rica. I learned that Costa Rica is a country like no other. The country is much different than what the United States of America is like. The lifestyles, customs, and practices of Costa Rica are very different than those that I am accustomed to. As an outsider looking into the country, I saw a country that is very poor financially but very rich in spirit. They do not appreciate wealth as United States citizens do, but instead appreciate love and gratitude. I noticed that Costa Ricans have very strong family values and cultural roots.
There are two major themes that are associated and unique to Nuyorican and Dominican-American literature. The first is that of an identity crisis. Although Mexican-American/Chicano literature also addresses the theme of an identity crisis, there exists a major difference between these two ethnic groups. A majority of Mexican-Americans and Chicanos were willing to give up their culture and manipulate their identity to assimilate into society better. El Norte is an excellent representation of this difference. The two main characters in the film, Rosa and Enrique, illegally immigrate to the United States of America for a better life. Once they cross the border, they do their best to shed off their former life. In order to do this, they practice
Just Northeast of Mexico City stands what was once known as the holy city of Teotihuacan, Mesoamerica’s largest thriving city during Pre-Columbian times. This land was inhabited and developed by the Maya, Aztec and the Olmecs civilizations throughout existence. Although the creation of Teotihuacan and by whom built it, is lost within an abundance of worldly theories, there is an agreement that whoever chose so did for grand spiritual and political purposes.(Hearm, Kelly. 2014) Many ancient myths claim Teotihuacan was the birthplace of creation and is where the Gods went to observe the evolving world and criticize its progress. However, it would be from man in strife hidden under the destruction that would ultimately be Teotihuacan 's downfall.
Ask yourself “if I could take a trip ANYWHERE where would I go” well, I asked myself the same question where would I go? Here is my answer, I would go to the Bahamas because I think that I need to try something new. I think that if I went to the Bahamas then i would try everything because i am very deprived as in i don’t take advantage of the things i could be doing.
Most importantly, I hope to visit every continent. I have always had the dream of traveling all over the world and finding the place where I want to live for the rest of my life. I imagine myself studying abroad somewhere in Europe for a year in college. I think that studying abroad allows a person to have a meaningful experience since he or she will learn everyday while also living in a completely different place that give you more experience in the real world. Along with this, I want to do more than just traveling; I want to do everything that a person is able to do on each continent. I want to see the wonders of the world, climb Mt. Everest, etc. Traveling is the most important thing I want to accomplish, because aside from my absolute love of travel and adventure, I want to experience culture and worlds that I have never been exposed to before. By visiting each continent, I know I will be fulfilling my ultimate goal of finding a place where I want to spend the rest of my l...
