Who are veterans? What have they done that is so important to our country? Veterans are men and women who have fought in war and severed our country. One word can describe why they are important, freedom. Have you ever wondered why veterans and soldiers wear their army suits everywhere? They are showing us that they severed our country and defended our freedom. We, the people of the United States, would not be present if we did not have soldiers protecting our nation. Even though war, in some critics mind, is not the moral or appropriate way to handle some situations, our soldiers are there for a reason, they are defending our freedom, representing our nation, and give men/women, who are interested in joining the army or those willing to listen, …show more content…
an understanding of army life and combat . I continue to wonder why somebody would want to sacrifice their life for someone they have never met.
Why one would put someone else family above their own? When I put more thought into these questions, I realize that veterans fought to keep their family. They would put their life on the line for their family’s freedom. Veterans battled to protect our nation’s family. When you think about how many men and women have and are fighting for you, for our freedom, you begin to appreciate and value their service and pray for those who have died trying. In my mind, veterans are the most selflessness people you could ever know. They put you and our country before themselves. Veterans represent our nation as a whole. They symbolize people of all beliefs and values, coming together and standing as one. Veterans have a profound certainty that our country is worth the fight. These men and women signify all we, as a nation, battle to defend, and everything we cherish in life. When these veterans stepped on the battlefield, they are saying that they value our country more than their lives and are willing to die for it. We honor and pledge to these men and women every day for keeping our country “the home of the brave and the land of the
free”. In the future, America’s veterans will pass down war stories of their lives and combat to young men and women who want to pursue a career in our country’s military or to little ears that love to hear their daddy, mommy, or grandfather tell them stories. These stories give people an insight into the life of a soldier. From leaving their families to stepping foot into the world of war, these stories are definitely life altering. I, personally, find how they survived and how they lived from a day to day base very intriguing. These veterans are truly the only ones who know the genuine cost of our freedom and are willing to pay the price so that we may appreciate and enjoy the benefit of freedom in our lives. They knew that choosing to serve in the military would arise life difficulties, such as the thought that they may never return home to their family but they still chose to serve because they knew that our nation was supporting them, all the way.
Our veterans helped make our country the best country, which is known for fact.Today, because of our veterans I’m proud to say that every citizen has the right to speak and share their voice no matter what their race is. In some countries, there are still racial conflicts and all races.I am also proud to say that every child in America,no matter what their race is, they can have a free education. Most children in other countries are not allowed to go to school because they can’t afford it instead, they go to work
Americans are defined by the respect they have for their country and its government, in taking advantage of their freedoms and rights that they gain by showing respect through allegiance, pride, and loyalty.
When you look into veterans eyes, you can see several things that are important. The pride shines through, the pride of serving ones country, and the dedication to protect other peoples freedom even it if requires paying the ultimate price. These men and women give their lives to give us our freedom. As a one of the many individuals that they are protecting it is vital that we see that pride and appreciate where it comes from.
America is the land of opportunity and the land of second chances. People come to America to live a better life, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. When Veterans come back home, all they want is a second chance at life again. They want to come back and be able to start from where they left off. But the government has done very little to help these veterans. The government believes they have done enough with the programs they have created, but it hasn’t had much of a change. The purpose of this essay is to discuss my opinion and what I know about this issue, to benefit The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, who are my intended audience. If the government were to put a lot of effort, like they do for pointless issues, there wouldn’t be many struggling veterans. If the government does more to improve every aspect of the reintegration process of veterans, so many benefits would come out of this action. There are a couple of reasons for why we should work toward improving veterans lives. First, there would possibly be a decrease in the veteran suicide levels and a decrease in the substance abuse aspect. Second, less veterans and families will have to worry about living and struggling with mental illnesses. Third, by improving the economical aspect for these veterans, more will find jobs and less will end up on the street homeless. And lastly, the reintegration process won’t be as hard for these veterans, and they will be able to resume a normal life. This essay is not meant to offend in any way, its purpose is to provide a new perspective over this issue, to cause a change for the better.
The purpose of Veterans Day is to honor veterans who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Nevertheless, nobody knows what veterans do or how they feel after separating from the military.
I believe that veterans are our nation’s bravest citizens. I also harbor a special adoration for them because my brother is in the Army and he has already served one tour in Iraq, and is currently on his second at the age of nineteen. My family is either very lucky or very blessed because my brother has yet to be injured in active duty. One day, I hope to join the Air Force and, in turn, become a veteran, as well. Veterans can remind us just how horrible war is, and, hopefully, prevent more wars in the future. Veterans have sacrificed so much so that we may have our rights, our leisures, our hopes, our dreams, and, most of all, our freedom. Everyone should honor the veterans of our nation at all times, not just on holidays like Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day during which we are constantly reminded of our forefathers whom gave their lives and so much more for our country. Many of us take things like going for a walk in the park, hanging out with friends, or going to the church of our choice for granted. I think we all need to take a step back and really look at the situations other countries are in right now and the dealings that they are going through. Then maybe we can look at our own country and really see what we have that others don’t, and consider all the lives, limbs, labors, and loves lost for every single aspect of freedom that we have. Our own men, women, and, at times, children have been sacrificed to feed the mouth of the beast that is poverty, oppression, depression, hunger, violence, and greed.
“A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
War is hell. War is misery, suffering, pain, and anguish. From the days of rocks and sticks to today’s high tech drones and aircraft carriers one thing above all others has remained the same; war is a terrifying, nightmarish endeavor. Unfortunately for those who fight for their nation, the battlefield does not remain in the far off land where the battle took place. In fact, those warriors bring back that battlefield, festering in the hearts and minds, sometimes long after their uniforms have been put in the closet to collect dust. It should come as no surprise that for a variety of reasons all stemming from combat experience, many of our nations Veterans will act in unconventional or perhaps even illegal ways, in an attempt to cope with the stress of their military service. It may be easy for some to say that these men and women, despite their service, are criminals and should be locked away like any other who breaks the law. However, if rehabilitation is truly a goal of our justice system it would not make any sense to take a group of offenders suffering from the side effects of combat experiences and throw them in prison, which is little better than combat anyway. This is why the advent of Veteran’s courts is so important. Due to their service, and the effects that PTSD and other service related conditions may have on their criminal behavior, Veteran’s courts are not only an honorable way to treat our nation’s defenders, but a way in which to protect them from the negative impact of incarceration. These courts, which are based off of drug and mental health courts, are designed to take less serious offenders, who offenses were related to their service connected conditions and keep them away from incarceration and into treatment (...
“Serving those who have served” (About Disabled American Veterans 1). This is the mission statement of the DAV, or the Disabled American Veterans. The DAV helps thousands of disabled American veterans in their life after war.
Veteran’s day is a reflection of the peace and the warrior culture in the United States. While peace cultures strive for tolerance and positive peace, warrior cultures focus on aggression and domination and this Day demonstrates how both cultures are engrained in the American society.
One of the most serious problems facing all veterans today is the lack of proper healthcare. Soldiers, sailors and airmen are leaving active duty without having proper healthcare to cover their physical or mental injuries. The department responsible for veteran’s healthcare is the Department of Veterans Affairs. (VA) According to The department of Veterans Affairs website, “The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is a government-run military veteran benefit system with Cabinet-level status. It is responsible for administering programs of veterans’ benefits for veterans, their families, and survivors. The benefits provided include disability compensation, pension, education, home loans, life insurance, vocational rehabilitation, survivors’ benefits, medical benefits and burial benefits. It is administered by the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs.” The VA, who was formerly called the Veterans Administration, was established 21 July 1930, to consolidate and coordinate government activities affecting war veterans. The VA encompassed the functions of the former U.S. Veterans' Bureau, the Bureau of Pensions of the Interior Department and the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. On 25 October 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation creating a new federal Cabinet-level Department of Veterans Affairs to replace the Veterans Administration effective 15 March 1989 (V.A.)
Without them, our nation would not have been protected. They put their lives on the line for you and me and Cruz wants to continue building on their progress by protecting our nation by fighting the enemy. Cruz also believes that we should honor our veterans for the work and dedication they showed. When Ted Cruz was the senator he served on the Armed Service Committee, which is a group that works to give veterans the care they disserve (Troops and Veterans). “Sen. Cruz sponsored a provision to expand Purple Heart eligibility to members of the armed forces who have been killed or wounded in an attack inspired or motivated by a foreign terrorist organization, as was tragically the case in the 9-11 attack and the 2009 Fort Hood shooting” (Troops and Veterans). While others might think it is unnecessary and a waste of time, Cruz loves his people and believes that nothing should go unnoticed (Troops and Veterans). When people tried to remove the Mojave Desert Veteran’s Memorial Cross, Ted Cruz went to court to protect this monument that is so special to many veterans (TED CRUZ IN
Veterans are very important to our nation. They love their country and fought for the things they believed in. The veterans have given us peace today and our nation is what rests on their shoulders.
The veterans act as the skin protecting our organs and anything else from falling out, altogether it forms the human. Throughout the human's life there are physical injuries and emotional pain from the wars in our country and outside our country we decided to participate in.Also humans aren’t perfect they make mistakes, but this human is pretty darn close because everyone else wants to be like this human. In America, Veterans Day annually falls on November 11 thanking the Veterans are thanked for their services of the USA. The veterans have made many sacrifices like being away from their families, risking their safety of their lives and their mental wellness to protect ours, the skin has also sacrificed
America has people willing to serve in the Armed Forces to protect my freedom. Veterans are people that protect you. They served in the Armed Force for an extended amount of time. Without veterans, we probably would not even have our ten amendments.
