Why Veterans Are Important to Our Nation’s past and Future Veterans are very important to our nation. They love their country and fought for the things they believed in. The veterans have given us peace today and our nation is what rests on their shoulders. Look at all the inspirations we have today, ask any kid out there who their hero is and the majority will name off some pop singer or movie star. A lot of people in our nation have forgotten the blood shed that came with their own freedom. They don’t remember the thousands of men and women who died in battle so that we could do the things we can do today and have the rights that we have today. Our veterans need respect, more respect than they receive. The real role models and heroes …show more content…
in today’s society are the veterans and the men currently fighting for our country. They are important to our future, because they are all men and women who showed our country how strong we really are. In any event of hard times our country needs reassurance. They need something we can look back on and see how we overcame the hard times. Thousands of men fought and died for our independence.
If they would not have sacrificed themselves for our country, then we would not be where we are today. Some of us may not even be here. Why does the person who writes songs and sing get more popularity than the person who fights and dies for each and every one of us? Times have changed and now days people over look all of these things. Veterans need recognition. They need to be remembered and honored. Our nation is conceited and needs to realize the importance of our nations warriors. Thousands of people are veterans and no one even realizes they exist. They see them every day on the street and never even give a little thanks to them. The veterans should be the famous ones. They should be the ones people look up to. They should be the rich ones. The people of our nation need to realize the importance of our nations veterans. Every single person out there has a dream. Some dream of having a great paying job, a beautiful house, and a family. verterans. The fought for countless days and countless hours, losing their buddies right next to them. Watching each other suffer and die. I’m sure every single one of them were scared, but any one of those men still have more courage and heart than any other man on this earth today. Every veteran has a love for their country stronger than anyone else. Our veterans stood guard where no one else would go.
They fought day and night next to their closest of friends. They lost limbs and suffered from wounds. They are tougher than any man or woman on the face of the earth. Until you stand in their shoes and see the sights that they saw, don’t criticize or say they had it easy. Every day you should wake up and say a thanks to the veterans that are still alive today. America has a lot of threats from other countries. Terrorists threaten to ruin thousands of peoples lives everyday. Our veterans and the men and women currently fighting are a huge relief. Its nice to know there were people out there that once protected us from the very same thing that thousands of other soldier are still doing today. I am eager to see how the US will change and evolve over time. I hope that in my life time I will never have to see or be a part of a huge war and have to see all the vulgar sites, but if it happens and my country needs me, I will pick up a gun in a heartbeat to protect the ones I love. I will stand proud behind my country and fight for my rights just like the men and women did in all of our past wars. I hope that in my children’s lifetime or even their children’s lifetime, that they never have to witness or be a part of anything like what the people in the past were a part
of. The Civil War, the World wars, and Vietnam are just a few of the bloody battles that our nation took part in. Tons of men died for each and every one of us to have rights. Every one of them are amazing men and need to be treated that way. That is why veterans are important to our nation.
The mission statement of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) is, “To fulfill President Lincoln's promise ‘To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan’ by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s vete...
For a school project we interviewed veterans and reflected on those interviews, I gained a better understanding of how to answer the question: why are veterans important to us. Veterans remind us of the horrors of war, of the innocent lives that were lost, and the millions of people those lost lives affected. Each of those veterans that we see has served our country fighting not only for our rights but also for the rights of those across the world. They chose to leave their families, jobs, and life back home to go and make sure that those human rights were being maintained across the world. That sacrifice of leaving everything behind is mind blowing.
The Sons of Liberty were somewhat heroes too. They did help the Revolutionary War start. Without the Revolutionary War, America might still be under rule of Britain. Also, they believed in liberty and democracy. Liberty and democracy is what America is run on. However, the Sons of Liberty were still fanatics. Although the Sons of Liberty helped start the Revolutionary War, it hurt America. Americans were not ready or equipped to fight and after the war, Americans struggled with economics and government for a little while. Also, the Sons of Liberty didn’t come up with liberty and democracy themselves, the whole nation agreed to it. There are some downsides also to having a democracy, the people can pick the wrong person suited for the job because of popularity or age, not facts or what could help their country out. Therefore, the Sons of Liberty were more of fanatics than heroes.
I can only stress the importance of this topic so much. I can keep going on about how important it is to do something, but that won’t get us the change we need. We need society, the government, and especially the Department of Veteran affairs to work together. This will be an issue that will be going and going for years to come. But I do believe that there is something that can be done to improve this issue.
The purpose of Veterans Day is to honor veterans who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Nevertheless, nobody knows what veterans do or how they feel after separating from the military.
America’s veterans should be honored because they have suffered through so many hardships that others could not and have not survived, and they did it for their country that they loved and still love today.
Tragic events occur not only in the United States, but also all over the world. From these tragic events communities, families, and the government decide to place memorials for people that were lost and as a thank you for people protecting the citizens of the country. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Wall, in Washington D.C. is one of these cases. However, what exactly was the purpose of this memorial? The purpose of putting up the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was not only to thank the veterans for their bravery, but to remind future generations about happened during the Vietnam War. Also, the memorial is important to help people and the veterans to accept the fact that the war actually
Veterans day means a day for us to thank the ones who have served in the military and war. Sacrificing every moment of their lives to defend our country. The Veterans have a significant importance everywhere. Whatever the reason is for them serving our country we should appreciate them for all their work. Veterans day was created because World War I ended . Fighting and wars did not end and are still going on and there are still Veterans out here today. Veterans day is a day to celebrate ones who were in war. Not to be confused with Memorial day , memorial day is when we celebrate the ones who died serving. People today in our society don’t take in consider the ones protecting us every single day. Who do you think fights for us and our country.
“A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
Steve Buyer, a member of the house of representatives from Indiana’s fourth district, once said, “Because all of us believe and understand in the fabric of the common bond of why we call ourselves American is to care for the men and women who wear the uniform; and when they take off the uniform, we care for them when they are veterans.” After men or women finish their time serving our country, and they take off their uniform, it does not rid the title of Veteran from them. They are still the brave ones who fought and served for America. The care for the Veterans of America is a crucial part in giving back to those who risked their lives for our country. Veterans need to be taken care of medically, mentally, and financially more as promised by President Obama. “It's a commitment that begins at enlistment, and it must never end. But we know that for too long, we've fallen short of meeting that commitment. Too many wounded warriors go without the care that they need. Too many veterans don't receive the support that they've earned. Too many who once wore our nation's uniform now sleep in our nation's streets."
Veterans are a hearty lot. They serve and sacrifice, and having the honor of wearing the uniform is enough thanks for most of them.
Veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder need to receive better care, because post traumatic stress disorder is curable, damages relationships, and veterans made many dramatic sacrifices. The health care for veterans needs to be more easily accessible.
The United States has thousands of veterans and many of them suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The care for veterans must be improved. Veteran care needs to be improved because they are not getting the proper care that they need, not receiving credit for their service, and they were willing to pay the ultimate price for freedom, yet people will not pay the price of time to help them.
Veteran’s day is a reflection of the peace and the warrior culture in the United States. While peace cultures strive for tolerance and positive peace, warrior cultures focus on aggression and domination and this Day demonstrates how both cultures are engrained in the American society.
