Vasovagal Syncope
My best friend "Dirk" can easily be picked out of a crowd. His 6'7 stature, impressive muscle mass, very blond hair, big blue eyes, and booming voice cause many people to stare at him-once, in Europe, a Japanese couple asked if they could take a picture of him. Addicted to weight lifting and athletics, my friend does not always enjoy admitting that he is a computer engineer-yes, my 22-year-old buddy is still afraid of the geek label. There is something else to which Dirk will not readily admit-he faints at the sight of blood. In fact, many things can trigger his fainting spells: blood, vomit, overheating, etc.
Dirk lives next door to my parents; we grew up together. Recently, he and my sister ran over from his house to ours, which is a distance of about 50 feet. My sister had not worn shoes; when they got to our house, they walked through two rooms before Dirk got dizzy. My sister had cut her foot, and the blood that had spread over the tile floor made Dirk turn his head away, and sit down. My mother ran to the rescue-Dirk's, not my sister's. She helped him breath deeply, and luckily he avoided fainting.
A few Christmases ago, Dirk caught a stomach virus. He made it to the bathroom just in time, but seconds after vomiting, he fell to the floor, and blocked the door. His parents frantically tried to open the door, they tried to revive him by screaming for probably five minutes, which seemed like an eternity to them at the time. Eventually they revived him.
The summer before that Christmas, Dirk was golfing with his high school's golf team on a hot July afternoon. At the end of the course, he and his coach walked to the parking lot. All of a sudden, Dirk toppled like a tree onto th...

In the words of Shane, “Patt, who was a year younger than me and would eventually grow up to be one of my closest friends.” Patt spends most of his time with Shane playing video games, chatting, and playing basketball. They are having fun together despite Shane’s disability. Once upon a time, Patt and Shane’s brother attached a rope to Shane’s wheelchair. They threaded the rope through a basketball hoop and tied the other end of the rope to Shane’s brother. Then Shane and Patt started to pull the rope, so that Shane’s brother could do a slam dunk. Unfortunately, this did not work. They broke the chair, and Shane’s dad had to pay $4,000 for a pair of new
Joes High School’s total enrollment consisted of sixteen girls, and twenty boys. Ten of the boys that had enrolled there played basketball. All of the boys were over six feet tall. Lane Sullivan, the new coach of the basketball team, had never even touched a basketball before he started coaching. Sullivan had never coached anything at all before he started coaching the Joes basketball team. In order to gain knowledge about the sport, he got a book about it. He started coaching in 1927, but before the 1928 basketball season, Joes High School didn’t even have a gym. Instead, they’d practice outside on a dirt court, and two times a week they’d take a bus to the nearest gym, which was ten miles away. In order to play home games, the boys had to play in the local dance hall. The “court” was nowhere near regulation size, and the ceiling was so short that the boys couldn’t shoot an arched shot. The people who attended these basketball games had no place to sit and watch the game, the all stood around the edges of the court and on the small stage. Joes High School finally got their own gym around Christmas time because the people of Joes donated their time and material in order to make it happen.
The question of what caused the extinction of megafauna during the Late Pleistocene period is one that archaeologists have struggled to answer for decades, but why should it matter? Discovering with certainty the cause of megafaunal extinction would simultaneously prove or disprove any of the proposed implications of each existing theory regarding this massive extinction.

While communicating with another human being, one only has to examine the other’s face in order to comprehend what is being said on a much deeper level. It is said that up to 55 percent of a message’s meaning can be derived from facial expression (Subramani, 2010). These facial manipulations allow thoughts to be expressed in ways that are often difficult to articulate verbally, with the face demonstrating “the thoughts of the mind, and the feelings of the heart” (Singla). Many expressions are said to universal, particularly those showing happiness, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, and...
In this period the Earth was very cold and there were multiple glaciers. It was a huge ice age. Scientists say that the reason for the ice age was because of a 100,000-year cycle related to the Earths orbit and shape. Mammals got very big and lived in cold grasslands. These animals were relatives of the elephants. They are mammoths and mastodons. The extinction of these animals was at the same time of the extinction of the ice age.

It was the middle of November, 7 p.m. and very chilly outside. The team was walking into the court. “The basketball court looked and felt brand new. It smelled like it was just built and ready to be played on,” Rashim excitedly explained. It was Rashim’s first game of the regular season against Wissahickon High School. Usually Rashim doesn't care about the regular season, but he found out that this could be the most important game of his life. 76ers recruiter, Matthew McLane, came to watch the game to find an incoming star to bring to the NBA. Rashim knew it was his chance to show how he is good enough for the NBA, but he was very nervous. The game

It was a sunny day when Trevor was playing basketball up at the court with some other people from the neighborhood. “Eyo, pass the ball Luke!”, Trevor catches the pass from Luke and tries to dunk, and succeeds. Loud cheers can be heard, and some grunts, coming from the opponent’s side of course.
As glacial ice receded and the climate warmed up, the fauna changed as some animals began to become more scarce, such as fewer mammoth herds for example. The warmer climate brought new sources of meat that had become more readily available over time. Reindeer became a main source of hide, bone, antler, and of course meat.
Character animation is a very powerful medium for a story telling especially regarding its movements and expressions for the overall production. It is very entertaining to see characters in animation that comes in humanly expressions. According to (New Edition Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English), word character is referring to a particular combination of qualities that makes someone or particular type of person which is also synonym with the behavior, manner and actions which is forming the qualities of someone's characteristic. It does not matter if that character is particularly an object or human as long as they moves and have interactions and meet the qualities of attitudes inside them. In animation, a character holds the main attraction and becomes the main key to determine how successful the production is by getting back the feedbacks and responds from the audiences. To achieve this, every character must comes together with emotions that are portray from facial expression. Facial expression are the ultimate demonstration in our emotions. It help in a result of somebody hearing, seeing something smelling something, tasting something, feeling something or thinking something. Facial expression portray the seven basic emoticon which are happiness, sadness surprise, fear anger, disgust and contempt ( Steve Roberts, 2005). In a famous series of theatrical animated cartoon films created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in year 1970 till 2005, Tom and Jerry , the strength for this series is only hold to the facial expressions by the characters, movements and addition of music instead of having dialogue throughout the story. Thus, it is proven here that facial expression in a character does play important role either...
Facial expressions have been studied for years and continue to be studied now by researchers. From all the studying that has taken place on facial expressions, there have been two major viewpoints that have spawned. The first viewpoint is emotional expression, this viewpoint says that facial expressions are sporadic and come from raw emotions. The expressions only portray emotion and nothing more. The other is the behavioral ecology viewpoint; this states that the expression is not for just emotion, but the opposite. This viewpoint says that expressions are used or enhanced by the actions and expressions of those around you. This viewpoint states that it is more of a social behavior. I conducted a study that contained 10 observations of other people participating in regular actions. I waited and watched their facial expressions and what may have caused them. From this, I determined which viewpoint their facial expressions aligned with. I plan to compare the results and give some generalizations of my findings. I will also share any interesting things I may have found while observing the people. Then, I will conclude by stating my own personal opinion on the two viewpoints judging by what my results were and what I actually believe.
