The demand for workers will present a challenge as baby boomers start retiring and the declining numbers of workers being born to replace them. This challenge will demand organizations to retool their business strategies to offer the most competitive total rewards package in order to retain and recruit best talent. This package is an important part of the relationship between employers and employees, providing financial security, enhancement to balance work and personal/family life, retirement programs, and health insurance.
The primary component of total rewards strategy is compensation. Most tangible form of compensation is monetary for work completed and results provided by the employee. Profit sharing, cash bonuses, stock options, and company paid vacations are just few examples of variable pay. What other better way to get your employees excites and provide an opportunity to push harder to reach goals to increase their regular pay. This provides incentives for the employee stay on board with the organization and the company has the opportunity to capitalized on their return on investment. Companies now must be able to communicate and provide the resources need by employees to understand and choose benefits being offered such as different forms of health insurance, retirement packages (profit sharing, 40lk, company pension plans), personal and sick days, and life insurance. These benefits must be conveyed in way to each employee regardless of age or status the importance of benefits being offered and how it can benefit the employee in present and the future and avoid the consequences of not having said
