Heavy smokers can use an alternative, like a vape, to hopefully reduce their symptoms. A source from webnd.com states, “ there is evidence that e-cigarettes enable some users to quit smoking or reduce their consumption” (Reinberg). Vaping is an improved version of using cigarettes. “People who vape may not be consuming as much nicotine as if they were smoking. Therefore, people who use to smoke and decided to vape said that they feel healthier now. Their lungs improved and their shortness of breath went away” (WebMD). Vaping is still better than smoking, but if they would quit their health will improve even more. Even though people can still use this option for improvement, it is better to just quit. When they quit all the symptoms will go away and they will live a happier and healthier

There is a gap in research of long term effects of e-cigarettes due to e-cigarettes only being developed in 2004 4. Due to e-cigarettes only gaining popularity recently, few reliable studies with enough participants were able to be meta-analysed. A movement formed in 2011 where the FDA decided to put vaping products under the Tobacco Control act labeling them as tobacco products due to the possible nicotine in them. In 2016, the FDA issued that anyone under 18 cannot be sold the e-cigarette or vaping devices of any sort. Identification must be provided for anyone below the age of 27 and samples of these tobacco products of any kind distributed are prohibited. The FDA has also putting warning labels on vaping devices for possibly containing nicotine, which is pending to be enforced in 2018. Even though these restrictions are being applied to not encourage young people to start vaping it does not stop the smoking industry from targeting the younger generation. The FDA is working with the anti-smoking group “The Real Cost” to provide education on the subject and aim it at teenagers. Vapers and or Vaping support groups are saying that the FDA is on the wrong side, that they should encourage vaping because if they don’t, they are encouraging teens or whoever smokes to still pick cigarettes over vaping. In general, the goal they share is to better the health of the public. Globally, sale and distribution of vape products has been banned in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay and a few other places. Since the items potentially contain nicotine in some way and it is a drug they have issued the ban. Vaping
Smoking is a lifestyle, a habit, and a trend. Smoking has become a social activity among teens, connecting them through the craving of a smoke. Smoking is seen as seductive and cool in the media and movies which influences teenagers to smoke even more. The World Health Organization has stated that “Tobacco kills around 6 million people each year. More than 5 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while more than 600,000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.” As of April 2016, only 7% of teenagers in the U.S. smoke, but it is said that tobacco use will kill 8 million people annually by 2030. 99% of adult smokers start in their years as teenagers. Smoking is an epidemic that has taken control of people’s lives since 1881 and the media since the early 1900s. Smoking currently kills about 440,000 people a year in the U.S. I feel that it is an issue because it is the #1 most preventable way to die, but people still continue to smoke because of how it looks and how they are perceived as a person if they do. The fact that people become addicted to a trend that will attribute to their death for the sake of being thought of as cooler, is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Schools have always forbade students from using drugs and alcohol, however, many young adults lately are frequent smokers of electronic cigarettes. “Between 2011 and 2012 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed a sharp spike in e-cig experimentation among U.S. middle and high school students.” Vaping is often the term used for smoking electronic cigarettes. The reason why teens use drugs and alcohol have been thoroughly discussed; but what has not been thoroughly discussed, is why they smoke in the first place? What exactly causes teens to smoke E-cigs and what are the effects of vaping? Numerous explanations can be used to determine why teens smoke. Some of them are the same reason teens drink and do drugs. The main reasons include their desire to fit in with their peers, and their natural curiosity.
Many actions have been taken on vaping and cigarettes, such as only allowing people over or at the age of eighteen to buy the product and putting warning labels on products. The serious issue is there needs to be action applied to the fact that these products can kill a human being. There is a wide variety of policies trying to be passed for vaping and cigarettes. A vaping regulation is trying to pass making all vape companies to carry products similar to products back when vaping firs started. This could cause the vaping market crash, making people lose money, and most important jobs. Some actions should be taken on tobacco products because of the risk of getting cancer in it is high.
vaping is better than smoking - and 'one of the best ways in 50 years of improving the world's health'
Why is vaping bad for teens? Teenagers would disagree with this saying “I don't think vaping is harmful at all, it is so much safer than smoking.” (Swenson) but studies show that vaping is increasing in popularity and if vaping is harmful to teens these numbers are troublesome, for example a survey in 2014 found that 9% of eighth graders vaped thirty days before taking the survey, and 16% of tenth graders vaped within thirty days of taking the survey. This has brought down teen smoking though because only 7.2% of tenth graders smoked in 2014 versus 12.1% in 2013. The number of total high school students that vape in total tripled from 4.5 to 13.4 percent. There are 2.4 million US students vaping and the data shows it will continue to climb. If e-cigs prove to be dangerous this increasing number of students could be harmed like the generation that was told smoking is
E-cigarettes including nicotine are very easy to get addicted to for teens. At such a young age their brain is still developing and is easily attached to anything addictive. "’Seeing this uptick in the number of kids using these tobacco products in just one year--is deeply alarming,’ said Frieden, adding that memory and attention deficits have been linked to smoking during adolescence.” Smoking 30 minutes a day of e-cigarettes can cause a huge increase in the risk for cardiovascular disease. The nicotine has a very negative impact on adolescent brain development. It can make you have behavioral impairments, including effects on working memory and attention. Moving the legal age to use e-cigarettes to 21, could help kids realize how much this device is harming their brain and could lead to an earlier
Many people have given up smoking in exchange for vaping. Many vapers that were former smokers have found there are some side effects to vaping. However these side effects have proven to be temporary. One ex-smoker has created a website that shares his story as well as his findings on the use of vapes and e-cigarettes in his own personal life. The side effects he found were “Dry skin, Dry mouth, Rash/burning sensation on face, Itchiness, Puffy/dry eyes, Caffeine sensitivity, Minor blood nose issues”. Theses side effects however were much milder than the side effects he found corresponding to Cold-Turkey quitting of tobacco which include “’Quit zits’, Bleeding gums, Susceptibility to colds and the flu, Various skin issues, Anxiety, An increase in coughing, Dizziness, Insomnia, Dry throat”. Some of the side effects of smoking can prove to be life-long problems that eventually lead to
In recent years, smoking has started to take over the lives of many teenagers. The number of teenagers smoking has increased dramatically in the last several years. This is a major problem because smoking can lead to sickness and major diseases that can lead to death. Teens tend to participate in this while out of the presence of an adult figure. Although teens should not be smoking in the first place, an adult figure should be around to help insure that their children are doing the right things, even when they are behind sealed doors with their peers. Teenagers as they mature become a model for younger children and when they set the example of smoking can ruin their respectable image to the children that look up to them.
Everyone knows that cigarettes are horrible for your health and increase your risks of cancer. Not too long ago there was a big advertisement for e-cigarettes also known as vaping. It was advertised to be a healthier alternative and comparable to a nicotine patch to help you quit smoking. Many people began to question this new form of smoking and if it was really a safer alternative. Even though vaping is a safer alternative than smoking, vaping is not harmless because you are still getting nicotine, inhaling poison and risking a weaker immune system.
