Over the last 50 years, smoking and the public image of smoking has changed dramatically. Americans have learned the harmful effects of smoking and have put a heavy disdain on the use of it. The number of new smokers has drastically dropped over the years and many that had previously smoked have stopped. Some have turned to electronic cigarettes as a safer way to intake nicotine. Over the years, smoking advertisements have changed drastically. Nowadays, tobacco advertisements are virtually non-existent in our society, but when they were abundant they depicted smoking as a cool and sophisticated activity. Today, smoking advertisements are shown by electronic cigarette companies. These companies emphasize the healthier lifestyle these products

Almost everyone knows the health risks involved with smoking tobacco. Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) give habitual smokers the most promising results of tobacco reduction or cessation. There are some that disagree with the use of e-cigarettes however; the benefits are exceptional for those looking to quit this habit. It significantly lowers their health risks related with smoking tobacco and, unlike cigarettes, it does not release any harmful toxic chemical substances. E-cigarettes are also more cost efficient than buying a pack of cigarettes. Although there are some that oppose the use of the economical e-cigarettes, the advantages are greater because
Rigotti and associated found one third of college students are current tobacco users (Obermayer, Riley, Ofer, & Jersino, 2004). College students however are unlikely to seek professional help to quit smoking. 46 college student participants, aged 18 to 25 year old in the Washington D.C. area participated in the study. Subjects reported smoking an average of 28 cigarettes per week and had a desire to quit smoking within the next 30 days. “Fasting is an effective and safe method of helping the body detoxify itself.” Quote by: James F. Balch, and Phyllis A. Balch. When you begin fasting, toxins are created in your body, mostly because of food and water. During your fast your body is provided resting time, most importantly, it gives your organs a rest which could potentially prolong your life. To prepare yourself for a fast you should try to eat mostly fruits, and vegetables. Intermittent fasting means fasting for certain hours of a day. While periodic fasting is when you fast for three days or longer for two or more weeks. The description of hunger is when your bodies respond to lack of food, then your body begins searching for food. If you get hungry during your fast it’s advised that you eat watermelon (if you absolutely need it), drink lemon juice or coffee. While giving organs rest and creating longevity, fasting is a controlled medical regimen.
Many people have given up smoking in exchange for vaping. Many vapers that were former smokers have found there are some side effects to vaping. However these side effects have proven to be temporary. One ex-smoker has created a website that shares his story as well as his findings on the use of vapes and e-cigarettes in his own personal life. The side effects he found were “Dry skin, Dry mouth, Rash/burning sensation on face, Itchiness, Puffy/dry eyes, Caffeine sensitivity, Minor blood nose issues”. Theses side effects however were much milder than the side effects he found corresponding to Cold-Turkey quitting of tobacco which include “’Quit zits’, Bleeding gums, Susceptibility to colds and the flu, Various skin issues, Anxiety, An increase in coughing, Dizziness, Insomnia, Dry throat”. Some of the side effects of smoking can prove to be life-long problems that eventually lead to
One of the biggest problems with society today is children and young adults are turning to electronic cigarettes for a source to nicotine. It is understood that some people might think that electronic cigarettes are better for people but here is why they are not. Electronic cigarettes have the same consequences as normal cigarettes with very few differences, such as in electronic cigarettes there is no tobacco and there is no carbon monoxide. Some might not know what is really in electronic cigarettes. Many people don’t know that there are over seven thousand chemicals and cartridges in these devices. Smoking electronic cigarettes has the same effects as normal cigarettes; they as well have been known to cause cancer and other diseases. Here is why electronic cigarettes are just as bad for the human body as
Smoking cigarettes can be very harmful to your life with so many health issues, such as heart disease, cancer and emphysema. Some people think it’s not a huge issue smoking cigarettes but it’s a great way to lose ten years of your life. You lose lots of money, a lifetime of health issues, and cause you to have yellowing of the teeth and bad breath .There is way too many health risks involved to start using this drug. Say no to cigarettes you will be healthier in the end then to continue on this wrongful path.
A study from Hatsukami and colleagues (2010) about reducing the levels of nicotine in tobacco, in order to help prevent addiction and help wean off the habit brought a different alternative to quit tobacco. A new technology has arrived and it has been beneficial by weaning off smokers from nicotine and it is called the electronic cigarette. According to Stifferlin (2014), “researchers found that based on the evidence, e-cigs are much less harmful to smokers and bystanders compared to conventional cigarettes” and researchers also found “that e-cigs can help some users cut down on their use of regular cigarettes and even quit.” Due to the fact that e-cigs are fairly new, researchers are still unaware the health issues it may bring. Currently e-cigs are better than a traditional cigarette because of the fewer toxins it
