My goal for decreasing the use of hospital supplies on the labor and delivery floor is to have a unit wide meeting to discuss the misuse of products. “Hospitals need to implement practices to tackle waste in each of these areas. However, removing waste from the system is easier said than done” (Alkire, 2012, p. 108). Reminding nurses and all staff members on the unit to only take what is necessary and to not waste products patients may not even use is essential.
Those who should sponsor this project are those over hospital budgeting, nurse managers, nurses, and any staff member that aids in patient care. Everyone on the labor and delivery unit should be held accountable for avoidable waste. I recommend that a unit wide meeting be held,
so all employees can voice their opinion on ways to decrease waste on the unit. At this time a goal could be set to help regulate the use of hospital supplies on the floor. The data that would need to be collected is weekly usage of the specific hospital supplies that I discussed and patient census. As discussed before items like pads and mesh panties are very unit and patient specific. Progress could be monitored by the reduction in the unit fees and how often supplies need to be ordered. These results should be reported to accounting and the unit manager at least every two weeks to make sure budgets are being met.
As we begin our nursing career, it is vital to have an experienced preceptor to guide a new graduate nurse to becoming an accomplished and knowledgeable nurse. It just doesn’t take experience to make a good nurse preceptor but one that possesses qualities such as being patient, knowledgeable, give constructive feedback, and able to be a supportive role model. As stated by Korzon and Trimmer, “A supportive preceptorship relationship is a well-established primary support mechanism aimed at the successful integration of new nurse” (p.14). This statement doesn’t only apply to new nurses but nurses that are joining a new organization or a nursing specialty.
When overcoming concerns and challenges of the current state of hand hygiene compliance, many new strategies must be implemented to promote and progress hand hygiene behavior. One strategy is to continue to observe nurses using recommended practice using multimodal and multidisciplinary technology. Another strategy to increase compliance exists in making hand hygiene an essential part of nursing culture and creating an institutional priority where administrations provide appropriate support and financial resources (Pfoh, Dy, & Engineer, 2013).

Accordingly, the following paragraphs will analyze the significance of the Meaningful Use program for nurses, nursing, national health policy, patient outcomes, and population health associated with the collection and use of the programs core criteria.
It is another extremely hectic Monday in the Emergency Department. The waiting room is building up fast with many new walk-in patients. Fire Rescue trucks are calling one after the next with several medical and trauma cases. Patient education is a process of providing patients and their families with information, knowledge and skills that are necessary for the management of their health and illness concerns (Park, 2005). It is the responsibility of nurses to follow the teaching process when providing patient education. They includes assessing the patient educational needs, planning an educational session, implementing the plan, and evaluating the educational process. Obstacles to teaching and learning are those that confront nurses in the educational process. Nurses can find that they don’t have enough time, knowledge, and teaching skills. In addition, patients’ literary level, and environment and personal conditions will affect their ability to learn. Cognitive and humanistic are two learning theories that can help nurses and patients to achieve the goals and benefits of the patient education.

Providers previously felt the need to do more than necessary to meet a certain quota based on a quantity of supplies or other interventions used. Changing this goal can significantly decrease the cost of care due to using on the supplies necessary to provide effective, high-quality care.
