What is the Relationship between Race and Youth Unemployment in Australia? I will focus on the research question because race is rooted within the Australian community. The racial-ethnic distinctions are the major issues that characterize employment in Australia. Most of the people living in the country do not have Australian nationality, meaning that they may experience unequal distribution of work. It is definite that race matters during recruitment and employment of indigenous people and is not well represented. Being black or white is a consideration factor while recruiting the young people. Answering the question will determine the number of teenagers who face discrimination in employment because they speak a language other than English. The basis of the question is the contributing factors to youth unemployment in the country. I will use online reflective journals to collect data such as the number of languages mostly spoken by the indigenous students, teenagers and the newly employed people. Again, the ratios of the whites in employment will be collected to help determine the level of job discrimination in the country. The journals will provide an overview on how the ratios have decreased or risen over time. Throughout the world, in history and in present day, injustice has affected all of us. Whether it is racial, sexist, discriminatory, being left disadvantaged or worse, injustice surrounds us. Australia is a country that has been plagued by injustice since the day our British ancestors first set foot on Australian soil and claimed the land as theirs. We’ve killed off many of the Indigenous Aboriginal people, and also took Aboriginal children away from their families; this is known as the stolen generation. On the day Australia became a federation in 1901, the first Prime Minister of Australia, Edmund Barton, created the White Australia Policy. This only let people of white skin colour migrate to the country. Even though Australia was the first country to let women vote, women didn’t stand in Parliament until 1943 as many of us didn’t support female candidates, this was 40 years after they passed the law in Australian Parliament for women to stand in elections. After the events of World War Two, we have made an effort to make a stop to these issues here in Australia.

The general picture, therefore, remains that labor market constantly fails to meet the needs of people regarding employment. Although this is the case, there has been some variation across regions with Scotland and Wales in the UK showing decreased performance. There remains a risk that employment will increase in the coming years. The present concern is long-term unemployment, specifically with regards to the youths who are most disadvantaged in the labor market (Dickerson, 2008, p.1).
