Why do people automatically assume something about a person or a group of people? Why are their views based on what they see, and not what they know? People who live in different countries around the world are taught to view certain places and different groups of people in different ways than others. Although people may believe that they do not judge others throughout their day, they have unconscious biases, whether it is for one person or a group of people, but sometimes these judgements are formed because of past events and their culture.

That's not what I'm saying. We all have our biases. They're the filters through which we see the world around us” (Magied 1:52). While Yassmin is walking down the street she picks up on these unconscious biases. She sees the way that people on the street look at her and she understands that it is not because they want to; she is also saying that these unconscious comments come from the world around us. The things that the people say are solely because of the things that others say or the things that people grew up around. She also then states, “...because Lord knows, Muslim women are so much more than the piece of cloth they choose, or not, to wrap their head in. This is about looking beyond your bias” (Magied 0:43). She is showing that the people that she encounters everyday on the streets will judge her whether she wears her headscarf or not. Even though she may get most of the judgement from random people on the street because she sticks out, people everywhere, no matter what they look like also get unconscious bias. She is saying that all people need to look beyond what they have learned and what they thought was right and wrong and open up their minds to the that other people look and to what
