Taking a taxi in an overpopulated city is a comedy of errors, minus the comedy. Consumers enjoy the noticeably less expensive pricing provided by Uber than a taxi, but the company has proven divisive among taxi drivers. My first experience in a taxi was not to long ago in the city of Chicago. There were countless amounts of people attempting to hail down a taxi and many taxis parked on the curb blocking access to future taxis to reach to their destination. Before placing the order, we were given an expected arrival time of 45 minutes. I was unsure if this was normal, since we were in a large city, and I did not want to sit at the same spot waiting for the next available taxi to arrive. However, when using Uber taxi services, the hassle of getting transportation to your next destination is decreased dramatically, compared to a typical taxi service. With the touch of a smartphone, people are able to order a cab to arrive at their precise location in no time at all compared to all of the other taxis. My personal experiences with Uber have been great and would choose Uber over taxis at any time. Uber drivers have offered to charge my phone, play music of my choice, and feel secure. The biggest portion of the population that is against Uber, happens to be taxi cab drivers who have lost business to the fast growing service. If taxi cab drivers would migrate to driving for Uber than their taxi, they would most likely see increases in wages as well. Unfortunately, not all cab drivers can make the transition as the cab service may be their own, or they do not have a vehicle to being transporting people (a vehicle is required in order to qualify as an Uber driver). Not only are some of these people voting for Donald Trump, but some do not believe in changing anything in life as they are scared of change, but as explained earlier, without change we would be back to square one. It is true taxis have always worked in the pass, but we have the technology to enhance the ride-sharing industry. Society was skeptical about sending their letters via email as it was new to us before as well, but if we did not transition to emailing, we would still be waiting days for our pigeons to deliver our letter instead of receiving an email in seconds. Transitioning to emails from hand written letters has improved speed and is also stored in our mailboxes. Without trying out the internet, we would have never advanced so far as we have, everything should be given a trial to verify if it could potentially make our lives as a community easier. No the taxi is not broken but there are also substitutions than taking a taxi. There are a lot more benefits to taking an Uber over a taxi it would not make sense not to make the
