Friend, Please is a song off of Twenty One Pilots’ first album, titled Twenty One Pilots. Originating in Ohio, the group, consisting of singer/musician Tyler Joseph and percussionist Josh Dun, released this album in 2009. Named after the play “All my sons,” the group’s name is a reminder about the tough decisions between deciding to do what is right or do what is easy. Their songs consist of poems written by the members of the band. Twenty One Pilots does not fall under any specific music genre, as their songs include piano, ukulele, drums, guitars, rapping, and sometimes digital sounds. This two-person group has been on the billboard recently for their hit singles Stressed Out, Heathens, and Ride.
Though not one of the most popular songs on the album, Friend, Please is still a very powerful song. This song’s instrumental part is, for the most part, digital. This stark contrast to the more in-depth lyric portion of the song creates a feeling of confusion, but also of understanding. The opening stanza sounds distant, as though the

singer can't relate to the listener. Soon after, however, the singer’s voice loses its echo and sounds much closer, and it’s as if the listener can begin to relate. The song also contains minor chords, which add to the overall effect, and weave together the tenderness of the lyrics with the more up-tempo instrumental portions of this song. At the end of the song, everything except for the piano cuts, and you hear a more raw, emotional voice.
He sings, “Friend, please remove your hands from / Over your eyes for me / I know you want to leave but / Friend, please don't take your life away from me.” These words, combined with the piano and the sudden lack of noise, create a very moving effect. The first two lines leave the listener curious as to why it is so important that the friend uncovers his eyes. The last two lines give more clarity into the meaning of the stanza. When taken as a whole, the listener can understand the situation the singer is in, where his friend wants to die, but he is not ready to let go. This deeper understanding of the chorus gives the listener a feeling of understanding and also of sadness. It also symbolizes his friend trying to hide how he’s feeling. The eyes are the windows to the soul, and he didn’t want to show what was going on in his
life. The lyrics in this song tell a story that many teens could relate to. In the first verse, Joseph sings, “I feel for you but when did you believe you were alone” which almost sounds as if he doubts his friend is as lonely as they say they are. Joseph speaks to his friend like he knows what they’re going through. In the second verse, he sings, “You will hide from everyone, denying you need someone…” Joseph recognises the fact that his friend needs help, even though his friend will not. The listener can feel the frustration in his voice, and can really understand how important this friend is. Although one of their older songs, Friend, Please is still a very powerful song from Twenty One Pilots. The overall tone and the effect it leaves on the listener contribute to the emotion and concern felt throughout. The instrumental parts start and end suddenly, so that the listener feels drawn toward what is next. These lyrics represent a very complex form of art, and works very well with the music.
In this song one can tell that the singer is very sad and depressed about many things that have happened in his life and the love ones that have passed away. When he sings this lyric “My sweetest friend…. I will let you down” you can tell that it is about how his loved ones have passed on and he let
The song begins with a verse about songwriting and singing where Twenty One Pilots tells how they would like to sing better (“I wish had a better voice...”), write better (“I wish I found some better sounds no one’s ever heard...”), and compose better (“I wish I found some chords in an order that is new...”) in rhyming lines. The idea that this
By definition a friend is a person who provides assistance and support. We have different groups of friends for different purposes in our lives. Although there are many different categories of friends, Marion Winik author of “What are Friends For?” mentions that some of the more common groups consist of the faraway, work, family, and former friends (132). We keep our friends because we value their loyalty, communication, support, and dependability.
...nd the narrator supports him by listening to the music which seems to provide solace for suffering souls. This shows a new bond that has been created.
Twisted Sisters, a novel written by Jen Lancaster, is about Reagan Bishop, a psychologist who struggles accepting that her sister, Geri, is the family favorite. She ends up discovering some things she never knew about her sister. The theme of this book is definitely friendship. Reagan was named after the president Ronald Reagan, because she was born not long after he was elected. She grew up in Chicago with an older sister, Mary Mac, and a younger one, Geri. Reagan couldn’t be more different from her two sisters, she was tall with dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a love for academics. On the other hand, her sisters had a short and plump physique accompanied by red hair and freckles. Reagan moved on to a prestigious private college and fulfilled her dreams of becoming a psychologist. She was very careful about what she ate, and she loved going on long runs. Reagan was even featured on a cable show titled, I Need a Push! You’re probably thinking, wow, Reagan’s got a lot running for her, right? Wrong. She was a psychologist with a few issues of her own. In this paper, I will explain the ...
You stare politely right on through.' Then the narrator mentions a metaphorical 'window to your right/As he goes left and you stay right,' which is telling us, everything that is said to the teenager doesn't catch on in his mind. He believes there is nothing wrong, so he stays to the left instead of heading toward the window, or his escape, on the right. The first verse ends with, ?Between the lines of fear and blame/You begin to wonder why you came? which is telling us that the friend is having second thoughts trying to help the teen in the first place because the adolescent is being headstrong.
It is human nature to want friends, and Daniel Keyes expresses this need through the main character Charlie's interactions with his peers. Everyone wants friends or just someone they can rely on and talk to, to get them through rough patches in life. Charlie has had a hard life since day one with people constantly judging him because of his mental disabilities that he can't control. This makes the reader relate to their own lives and how everyone needs the feeling of someone wanting to interact with them, and the awful feeling of being alone. People in everyday life find themselves feeling uncomfortable and awkward when
Led Zeppelin was one of the giants of the 1970’s in hard rock. They were also one of the greatest success stories that ever played hard rock music. The group was one the more popular hard rock groups that performed in the seventies, and even had some hits in the 1960’s.
Led Zeppelin were never afraid to try new musical directions, drawing inspiration from such styles as blues, rock, folk, country (and everything in between!) to create a unique sound that almost defies description, probably the most appropriate way to describe their vast repertoire is simply as "Led Zeppelin". During their reign they created one of the most enduring and diverse catalogues in modern music and firmly secured their status as one of the most influential groups ever (probably second only to The Beatles!).
The man feels abandoned in a corner and he drinks for the sadness he feels. While drinking, he tells himself I do not understand why you left me, if I know she loved me, so if you ever regret your decision he will be waiting for you. Basically, the man feels broken emotionally because the women he loved, left him for no reason. This song to me is not a dancing song, however the song is more about remembering your ex-wife, ex-girlfriend or ex husband and ex-boyfriend. For me personally, this song reminds me of drinking, the title literally means bitter shots of liquor. The way the song shares the hurt the man feels by the women that left him. I could almost picture a man sitting at a bar drinking to his ex saying, “I’m drinking because of you, you caused this”. I could picture that scene in my head because I have seen my friends in Mexico and my cousins in Mexico do
In conclusion, friends play an important role in a person’s life. It is friends that are called upon when life’s struggles get overwhelming. Finding that one special friend, that we call best friend can be challenging, but well worth the energy. While not all friendships last forever, some will remain just as brief encounters; however, each leaves an indelible mark in the minds of those they touched. Having a group of casual friends to enjoy adventures is fun, but having a best friend is one of the greatest gifts that life offers.
The song accomplishes such a thing by taking the approach of a man who knows he is dying, and who takes a nice approach to it. Before the man dies and gets to experience the beauty of heaven, he explains to his loved ones that he doesn't want them to cry for him when he is gone but rather be happy for him. Images of different seasons of the year to explain the process of growing older. Images that depict the fading of light in a persons soul transforming into darkness. Images that the reader can perceive as vivid actions.
Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits.
“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart,” was one of the famous quotes of Eleanor Roosevelt. She designates a true friend as a person who affects your life so much that you cannot live without them. Life would be miserable without a true friend, with no one to talk to. A true friend is the entire Boy Scout’s Law: “A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” A friend in need is a friend indeed.
We do not make friends because they are useful but the bond of friendship, once it grows stronger and stronger has a number of positive aspects. There are certain secrets that can only be shared with our friends only. When we are facing a difficult situation in our lives, only true friends come forward to help us overcome all the difficulties.
