7b “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all”. The quote was by Dale Carnegie, who was an American writer and lecturer. The quote means to always try your hardest, and accomplish all of your goals. My entire family and I have always done our best, and we all put all of our effort in all of the work that we do. My family might be going through some problems, but that does not change the fact that we try very hard. My relatives are all hard working people. Everyone in our family has been working for what they want for their entire lives. My parents both have good paying jobs, that they actually enjoy to do. A result from all of their work, and …show more content…
“ Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” The american writer and lecturer that said that quote was Dale Carnegie. I am an example of the quote, because whenever other people think that there is no hope, and that there is no way that they will succeed, then I prove them wrong. Everyday I try to prove everyone wrong by showing them that there is a way, that there is a way out, and that there is always at least one way out of whatever situation that they might be stuck in. Always trying my hardest is what makes me a good student, and it gets me good grades. Trying my best, trying my hardest, using all of my effort, focusing and staying on task, and doing what I am supposed to be doing, is what makes me a good student, and all of those things that I do, make me a successful person. I think that when Dale Carnegie was creating the quote, he was thinking about how much determination he had, and how much determination other people in his community has, and how much his family had. Dale Carnegie was trying to relate himself to the quote that he created. I know that I can relate to his quote in many different ways. I now know that not only do I relate to Dale Carnegie’s quote, but my family members relate to Dale Carnegie’s quote as well. We all should try our best and prove to each other that there are millions of different ways to complete your goals, and succeeding at anything. I always do what I can, so what I think is not possible, I can make it possible. I now believe that anyone, anywhere, can do what they want in life, and I’ve learned that because of Dale Carnegie’s
“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all. Dale Carnegie believed that perseverance could overcome even the harshest obstacles. Perseverance is inspired by a purpose, an unsatisfied drive to achieve a goal. During a cataclysmic event, only people with a purpose endure.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”
David Mamet once stated, “..it is the human lot to try and fail..” This quotation implies that an individual will attempt to achieve success throughout their lifetime, but he/she will also have to face the failures as well. The quote relates to the philosophy that in order to achieve something, one will have to work for it. This quotation is correct and is further supported by two literary works. The two novels are Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The Pearl, also by John Steinbeck. In these two novels, the protagonists know that their goals are very farfetched and out of the norm, yet they both try to achieve it and ultimately fail.
Introduction- In order to succeed in life, you have to be open to trying new experiences, even if you know you might fail. If you do fail, you have to persevere and try again if you want to reach your goal. To become better than you are, you must be exposed to new ideas and moments of failure and doubt.
...us that no matter who we are, anything is possible as long as we go out there and try out best to achieve it. As the saying goes, “there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”
There are lots of examples of this in the book but here is a good example from Mawi when he ran track. “That summer, I would run at least six days a week and lift weights every other day. I did it, working during the day and training at night. Again, my hard work paid big dividends … I earned all-conference honors.” (115). Mawi joined the high school track and field team. During his sophomore and junior years, Mawi only made marginal progress. He wanted to change that. Mawi knew from his father that if you work hard, you will succeed. As you can see by this quote, Mawi did as his father said and no doubt, he succeeded in getting all-conference honors. Persisting is not just in sports, however, Mawi also worked hard at school. He recalls, “I stayed up night after night, rereading the chapters and reviewing my notes. I would get home from sports at 6 p.m., eat, help out around the house, and study until midnight. Then I would get up at 6 a.m. and do it all over again. The hard work paid off. I often got the highest grade in the class.” (112). As you can see, Mawi also worked hard at school. Mawi took an advanced us history class. He knew that by working hard and persisting, he could get the highest grade in the class. Mawi spent 6 hours studying and reviewing his work. He was committed to earning the highest grade in his class and his hard work paid off. Working hard and persisting is a valuable lesson to learn because it produces positive results. Also, it does not matter whether you are running track or studying for a test, if you work hard at anything and set your mind to it, you will achieve your
As children, we are naturally, curious, eager and willing to try new things. When they don’t work out we are quick to move on and try something else. We don’t waste time or start worrying about what didn’t work, we simply move on to trying something else. As we grow older we learn that failure is unacceptable and we always need to be on our feet and improving ourselves all the time so we can decrease the chances of failure. I believe that in this world everyone is hungry for success and no one wants to fail in something they would love to accomplish one day. Desire for success is like a “drug” in this generation, without success people look down upon you and will believe that you’re not worth their time without giving you a chance. The phrase

Growing up I came from a family of two sisters and a brother. My parents worked hard to be sure that there was always a roof over our head, food on the table, and clothes on our back. My worked for various companies until he was able to obtain his degree as an electrical technician. Today he maintains his own business known as McGhee Electric. My mother also took on various jobs to make ends meet. She began work as a cosmetologist and slowly climbed her way to the top. After rigorous schooling and training, she is now Licensed Practical Nurse.
In spite of determination is the key to success, others would contradict and question why. In the story, “Against The Odds” Sully had determination, to save the people on the plane. Determination matters for everyone because it motivates others to reach their goal. For instance in, “The Grapes Of Wrath” the farmers had the determination to move through the disasters such as blackouts, thick air, and dust storms. The determination is essential for those who are successful like Sully, Bethany Hamilton, Billy Coleman, Albert Einstein, and J.K Rowling. To begin being successful is important for all people that want to aim to their goal.
The quality of unimaginable success is determined by grit. Despite confronting difficult life circumstances that delay the process individuals who are passionate, intelligent, and dedicated to one’s own success will continue maintaining consistency throughout their journey. Success is measured by an individuals’ commitment to effectively work hard towards life-changing goals. In the journal article “Grit: Perseverance and Passion for Long-term Goals,” Angela L. Duckworth conducts several studies in order to convey human’s capacity for higher achievements while still enduring challenges and failure. Although Duckworth’s research has proven that individuals who are less gritty tend to shift trajectory, I believe working hard and keeping “stamina” is essentially the key to achieving your goals (1088).
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time”. These were the words said by Thomas Alva Edison which inspired me a lot. It’s not about trying one more time, but giving up fails to fulfill the dreams.
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
There will always be challenges in life, and we must work to beat them in order to become successful. Even though the type of success people aspire to vary between different people, one thing to obtain it remains the same, effort. Jim didn’t get his dream job right out of high school because he was unprepared for the hard work it requires. After that, Jim started going to night classes, and it is more probable he will become successful. If you go through life assuming that other people will do your work, then you’ll never get anywhere. Effort is the most important thing in undertaking any
Like everyone else, family and friends have played a vital part in my life and have affected my outlook on money and career. I grew up in a family of six, with my father, who is an IT engineer, as the head and sole breadwinner of the family because in my country -Saudi Arabia- there aren’t many opportunities for women to advance. Although he made sure that we lived a pretty comfortable life, I would often see him foregoing his needs and wants to fulfil those of his family. So, I wondered about how different our lives could have been if my mom (or me as the oldest child) were working along with him. I believe that a person
