“Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for.” This quote from Johnny Depp is his most famous quote. Johnny is a very well respected Hollywood actor and has become wise over his years. This quote is full of truth and is really thought provoking. People that you know are dishonest are hard to trust to do something, but at least you know that they are not trustworthy. Someone that you believe is trustworthy may be a dishonest person and you do not know it. So you put your trust in them and they take advantage of your trust and betray you. That is not always the case, but sadly it does happen more than you would know.

People can be betrayed in a variety of ways for different reasons, by anyone in their lives. A close family member or a best friend could betray one. They may go behind one’s back in order for more personal gain, but sometimes they commit betrayal in the interest of one’s benefit. A not so close friend could betray one’s trust by telling a secret or situation that was told or seen in confidence that was broken for a juicy story or just slipped unnoticed. Some people betray their friends or enemies in order to make them look bad; such as spreading a rumor about said person.

The 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire centers on Jamal Malik’s incredible million dollar run in the Indian version of the game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Despite his lack of formal education Jamal, a “slumdog” hailing from the impoverished streets of Mumbai, is able to answer each of the difficult questions posed to him during the game show. With only a single question away from winning 20 million rupees the show breaks for the evening and Jamal is arrested by the local police on suspicions of cheating. He is interrogated and, through the course of the interrogation, flashbacks detail the events in his life that explain how he has come to know the answers to the questions asked of him. Through the flashbacks, the main characters that play substantial roles in Jamal’s life are introduced; most importantly, his older brother Salim, his life-long love Latika, and Maman, a criminal that fools the children into believing him a father-figure and saving grace. The film follows Jamal, Salim, and Latika from their early childhood to their early teens and, finally, into their late tee...

On November 10th, 1963 Malcolm X, later known as el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, delivered his “Message to the Grass Roots” speech to the Northern Negro Grass Roots Leadership Conference held at the King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. 1963 was a year of change, and a year of turmoil for African-Americans and the nation was in the midst of the (African-American) civil rights movement. Malcolm X’s speech would be one of his last speeches as part of the Nation of Islam, a group that was found 33 years prior.
What is poverty? Poverty is hunger, it is the lack of shelter, it is being sick and not being able to see a doctor and it is not having access to school and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job and fearing for the future, living one day at a time. Some people take for granted what they have, such as food, water, shelter, etc. These three common everyday necessities that people in the third world countries have not been blessed to have. It is heartbreaking that while some people waste food, people in other parts of the world are struggling to survive. Is it not right that people in the third world countries are also looking for the same happiness that first world people have. They don 't deserve to be in that situation.
