The rainforest is a very tropical region. It is full of water and many exotic plants and animals. This making the climate very humid and clearly rainy. Though the rainforest is next to the equator making it very hot, it receives about 80 inches of rain per year. Though with the rain, on average the rainforest starts around 80 degrees and rises throughout the day. These factors, the rain and high temperatures, are what makes the rainforest so humid. They’re located in a few different continents. Them being, Africa around Madagascar and scattered islands, Australia near New Guinea and other Pacific Islands as well as, Asia, Southeast Asia near Indomalayan, India and, Sri Lanka, in South America Neotropical and lastly, in West Africa . a rainforest in every continent but Antartica and North America. With all these places, there is a lot of different types of plants and animals.
Covering almost 2% of Earth, the rainforest is home to around 50% of Earth's plants and animals. The most common animals are, jaguars, many different types of monkeys like apes, spider monkeys, orangutans and so on, as well as multiple types of butterflies like the, blue morpho, monarch butterflies. Other common animals in a tropical rainforest is capybara, toco toucan, anaconda, python, poisonous dart frog as well as many others. Then to go along with all these consumers, there has to be producers. The common producers that you could find in a tropical rainforest is, banana trees, cocoa trees, orchids, victoria amazonica lilly pads, fig trees, palm trees, and many, many more. And with all these producers and consumers, there is definitely many symbiotic relationships in the rainforest. Most of the symbiotic relationships are commensalism and mutualism. I say mutualism because for example, when a monkey goes and gets banas frem and banana tree, the monkey is benefiting by getting the food it needs. Then when the monkey is done with the banana they throw it back to the forest where then it is decomposed into the ground to make fertile soil so more banana trees can
grow. I also say communalism because often times hummingbirds will suck nectar from flowers. The hummingbirds are gaining food and nutrition but the flowers aren’t helped or harmed. Though, there is the parasitism relationship in the rainforest as well. An example of parasitism in the rainforest is, when termites infest and take over a tree, the termites are gaining th nutrients from the tree though by them doing this they are killing the tree. Though the ecosystem have a system of the way it works in any biome there is a few environmental problems. One of the many environmental problems in a tropical rainforest is, most tropical rainforests water lines are being threatened! This is because erosion is starting to form due to deforestation. Which is being caused by overfishing nad oil/chemical spills which then leads to not only a lack of fish for the fishers but for the animals which leads to the ecosystem becoming a big mess. Though this is not the only environmental problem in the rainforest but, these types of things can lead to endangered species. The most common endangered species in the tropical rainforest is an, Orangutan. Which is very sad because they are a very unique type of monkey.
This rainforest is also a great ‘carbon sink’. It has many photosynthesis plants and this allows the control of carbon dioxide (CO2). The plants take in the CO2 from the atmosphere and return oxygen (O2). b) Logging has impacted this ecosystem. There are trees that are hundreds of years old and their timber is being pushed to be sold for high prices.
Tropical rainforests are an extremely unique and diverse ecosystem that are located around the earth’s equator. They once covered roughly 7% of the world, but due to human encroachment that has dwindled to just 2%. It is a highly moisture rich environment that typically receives anywhere between 60 and 400 inches of rainfall annually and average humidity ranges from 70 to 90%.
The Redwood National forest in California is home to some of the tallest trees in the world. People from all over travel to see the beauty of these hundred year old redwood trees. These trees The park was established in 1968 and is a national and state park. Since the park has been established there has been around a 100,000 increase in tourists each year. The park consists of 131,983 acres of earthquake prone land in the northern part of California, just below the. The climate of the Redwood National forest varies from mild with high humidity and even temperatures, this climate is perfect for the redwood trees, to the more harsh, windy climates near the ocean. The biome is mainly temperate coniferous forest with mixes of redwood and evergreen
A rainforest is an area of high, mostly evergreen trees with a high amount of rainfall. The biome is the earth’s oldest living ecosystem, being incredibly complex and diverse. The importance of the rainforest, is the huge biodiversity of the place due to the 80 – 90% of species that can be found there, even when it only covers 6% of the Earth’s surface. It is also often called the lungs of the planet, by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen upon which many species depend on. Rainforests also help stabilize the world’s climate and maintain the water cycle by producing rainfall all around the planet. Every year humans are cutting down more and more rainforest all around the globe. The reasons for this deforestation are to have grazing land for cattle, contraction of roads, extraction of energy and minerals and many more. Yet this report will focus on the monoculture of rubber tree plantations on previous rainforest land.
The beautiful Amazon rainforest “covers a vast area of more than two and one-half million square kilometers” (The Amazon: Its Developers, Destroyers). It is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, not found anywhere else in the world. Scientists believe that there are still many yet to be found. The Amazon is also home to many tribes who have been there for a long time.
The Proboscis Monkey is a mammal that is only found in a relatively small amount of area in the world. It is a odd looking animal known most for its gargantuan nose that hangs over its mouth. The Proboscis Monkey is well adapted to living in the rainforest, but when put in other biomes, it would have a rough time surviving. The only way it would be able to live in a new biome is it would have to adapt to its surroundings. If the Proboscis Monkey was somehow relocated to the Savannah, the Proboscis Monkey would have to undergo many different adaptations in order to survive in their new biome.
The Human Impact on Rainforests Human Impact on Rainforest is it a necessity? Rainforest are the beautiful gift of Mother Nature. It consists of the most magnificent species and plants in the world. 4.2% of the world’s animals live in the rainforest. This statistic it self shows how bad it would be to destroy such essential part of the worlds biodiversity.
Tropical rainforests which is located between tropic of Capricorn and tropic of Cancer covered 12% of land surface few thousand years ago. However, today they o...
Simply speaking, rainforests are basically the foundation of the earth. The most important role that rainforests play is ‘the lungs of the earth’. This is extremely vital to the earth’s survival as the trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide which they use to help grow and let out oxygen which we need to live. This system is known as the carbon-oxygen cycle and with numbers of rainforests declining, it is highly threatened. The largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon, alone is known to produce half of the world’s oxygen. A break down in the carbon-oxygen cycle means that we will not only have less oxygen, but an increase in carbon dioxide which eventually leads to global warming. This occurs as carbon dioxide traps heat which actually keeps the earth warm, with the right amount of carbon dioxide that is. This is called the greenhouse effect and occurs naturally however due to decreasing number of trees, there is more carbon dioxide than needed which traps extra heat making the earth hotter than needed, this is known as global warming which also causes a rise in sea level.
The Tropical Savanna has a climate that is wet and dry, it has a unique vegetation and has lots of organisms living there. The tropical Savanna has an average temperature at 64 o and precipitation averages at 30 to 50 inches. The tropical Savanna has a dry season for at least five months of the year. Because of the conditions in the tropical Savanna, organisms like the North African ostrich and African baobab tree must be well adapted to survive in their natural habitat.
Almost half of the world's species of plants, animals and microorganisms will be destroyed or severely threatened over the next quarter century due to rainforest deforestation.
Sixteen percent of the E arh’s land is rainforess. The rainfores houses all sors of differen ype s of life. Both plants and animals thrive in the rainforest ’s climate . So many different species of plants and animals live in the rainforests that it is impossible to know all of them. The rainforests can be a mystery , and part of that mystery is found in the ir lost civilizations. While the rainforest can hide the evidence of these civilizati ons, humans have ways to uncover them. Whether it is with technology or being uncovered by deforestation, many lost civilizations have already
Tropical rainforests have many species of plants and animals. They are very interesting and many scientists today study it. Rainforests are an important part of our environment and it is important for us to protect it. That’s why we have to stop global warming.
One of the requirements of the class was to read the book entitled Wisdom from a Rainforest: The Spiritual Journey of an Anthropologist by Stuart A Schlegel. The book was first published in 1999, and it was about the author’s experiences and his own personal transformation while staying with the Teduray society. Through reading the book, the professor wanted to expose his students to anthropological studies and reflect on how different concepts and theories that were previously discussed could be related to the material. “This book is a love story”. As the opening line of the book, it tells a lot of how the author is still in admiration with the now extinct tribe in Mindanao.
There are roughly 10 million animal species and 3000 fruits or plants alive in the rainforest. 70% of these organisms live in the thick layer of canopy up in the wet trees. In the canopy, there are many other animals, water, and shelter from the rain. In the rainforest, there are primate animals such as the slow sloth, monkeys, gorillas and such. There are fruit and plant which include cocoa beans, avocados, algae, figs, that supply food for the natives. The most stunning is the parasitic rafflesia flower that is the biggest in the world. It uses it’s vines to reach in the host’s cells to eat. It is hanging on the cliff of extinction with major problems such as only living for a few days. The most populated are bugs, ants, mites, lichen, and the predator anteaters. There is the caiman, rhinoceros, snakes and other predators like leopards. The birds are of beauty like the beautiful parrots, toucans and hummingbirds. Fish and water reptiles live in the Amazon River and near
