This interview that was conducted between the client and I transition very well as I was informing the client some important information about him continuing to receiving assistance and services when in Florida. The client continue to express his need to leave the state of New Jersey to live his life how he wants. I handled the interview without any problems developing from the client that would be upsetting. The client responded to me in a respectful manner. He accepted the information I had to inform him for him to continue with services when in Florida. The client expressed his need to leaving New Jersey, which is his decision that seems to be beneficial for him. My objective was achieved by providing the client information on what he needs
Erik Erikson was heavily influenced by Freud but while Freud was an ID psychologist, Erikson was an ego psychologist. Erikson stressed that the development of the ego depended heavily on personal and social aspects. “According to Erikson, the ego develops as it successfully resolves crises that are distinctly social in nature. These involve establishing a sense of trust in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and helping the next generation prepare for the future” (McLeod, S. 1970). His theory focused on personality development through eight distinct stages. He believed that personality progressed in a stacking or pre-determined manner, this is referred to as the epigenetic principle. One must
Due to the client’s close relationship with her family, I would have liked to discus this further, because this is an area that may contribute to the client feeling torn about making the decision. I also would have liked to spend more time exploring how Judaism plays a role in her family dynamics, roles, and expectations. She does not self-identify as Jewish, but her family observes some Jewish traditions. This would have been important to discuss in detail, and it is essential to consider all aspects of her culture. I need to keep in mind that I am coming from a position of not knowing, and it is important to ask. I asked her if she had discussed the presenting problem with her family and friends, which she had. This would have been a good opportunity to explore the details of the conversations she had with her family, and collectively identify any areas she would like to revisit with them in the future. Lastly, I would have also liked to spend more time discussing the pros and cons of staying in Arizona, which we only spent a modest amount of time discussing. We focused heavily on discussing the possibility of moving.
Over all, I felt that I had a meaningful and positive experience with the capstone course. I feel that this journey has helped and opened my eyes to the importance of researching, reviewing literatures, and applying the best available evidence to improve the patient outcome and provide higher quality of care to all my patients. If not for this capstone course, I am certain that I would have never attempted to find solution to my chosen evidence based nursing problem. The requirement of this course to choose a nursing problem provided me an opportunity to examine a topic that I am passionate about and gave me chance to think critically on how to initiate a change.
I boarded a bus in New York City recently as I entered into the bus I saw a vacant seat in the back section of the bus I hastily went and sat in it, while I was sitting there my eyes caught and add that was displaying a bow they window at the back of the bus. The odd red as follows; “homelessness has many faces”, but when I looked at the big terrorists on display beneath the writing I saw that all the individuals in the picture were black in color. Immediately my thoughts opened up to a documentary I saw in my sociology class prior to boarding that bus. I could distinctively recall a section of the documentary that speaks to the inferior way that the so-called white supremacy treats people of color. The hidden color is a documentary, an instrument
After watching the video tape, I realised that I was quite good at using questioning skill to help the client. The closed and open questions used in the interview were considered to be acceptable and appropriate. I believe that my personal experiences have shaped my ability to appropriately apply this skill in counselling. When I was younger, I used to listen to my grandmother talking about her past and the old tales that she had heard of. I...
I used rephrasing as a part of understanding the reason for the client’s visit and repeated the information in a way that we both could understand. The client was able to respond through the questions that I asked her in regards to her situation. I want to get a clear understanding without leaving out valuable information. In the three sessions my intentions were to make sure that what she gave me over the phone matches what she says in the interview. I made sure that when my client was speaking, I took notes on the new information or the information that was not covered in any of the previous sessions. Each session was based upon reflection because I had to make sure progress was being made or not. When my client began to discuss things in a way in which I could not understand, I was able to interpret the information in a way that she and I both understood and agreed upon. The moment an initial contact was made, I started giving my client information on informed consent forms, who I was and the number of years of my social work profession, policies and
In the book, “The Element” by Ken Robinson he discusses how different education systems all over the world are but focuses on the education system in the United States. The reason being is that he believes that there are faults that need to be fixed because it doesn’t focus on the students individually and discovering their “element” but, on academics, business and state testing. Robinson claims that education itself is supposed to be a process in which it develops all resources.
Students and natives from all around Baltimore joined R.E.A.C.H at Johns Hopkins University to watch what would be the last showing of “Moonlight” on Thursday, December 1 before it left the city. The movie ran from 6pm to 8:50pm followed by a panel discussion on race, sexuality and HIV prevention.
I am ready to get out there and face the challenges I will be presented. I will use any and all advice given to me, as it will make me stronger and more prepared for what I will encounter. My professors have advised me to work on my empathy. As I stated before, I have struggled with expressing this empathy toward others. I have also been warned on my use of close-ended questions. My professors have advised me to write down or go over my interview and spot them if they are there. They have also advised me to practice asking open-ended questions aloud. I have noticed an improvement in both areas due to their feedback. I have also been given advice on whether or not to comment on my own personal life. At times your experience can become questioned and I thought the only way to move forward would be to explain how your experience makes you qualified. However, my teachers all gave great examples and tips to move the conversation back to the client without personal disclosure. Any and all feedback is welcome as it can be used only to make you stronger and an overall better social
Today is the second session that I had counselor with this particle client. He came in to see me for the same problem that he had before. But except this time client had be doing a little than before. Before I started with the interview I had use the five stages and dimension of the interviews a client. I want to have an empathic relationship with my client, and gathering story and find the strength of my client is part of getting to know my client. This time I had set a realistic goal that my client can work toward without feeling that he is not in control of making the decision. The next is stage restoring finding what is not working now and trying to find an alternative that will work then take the action of letting the client go or
Ernesto Pujol’s journal discusses his art exhibition called Whiteness, where it revolves around the culture of whiteness and the thought process of being a white subject. The exhibition opened at the Foire Internationale d 'art moderne et contemporain in Paris in September 1999, and at Linda Kirkland Gallery in New York in October. It features an interesting assortment of objects combined together like Nazi porcelain dishes and bronzed, enameled, American baby boys ' boots on a faux Victorian shelf, wherein Pujol creates a series of photographs focusing on the notion of taste and purity (Pujol, 100). Pujol is attempting to make the viewer see whiteness from a more subjective perspective, where whiteness is an internal construct of a profound
The counseling session began with the introductions where I introduced myself as the counselor and later introduced my client. This stage is important in any counseling session since it is the time of exploration and focusing according to Gerard Egan as quoted by Wright (1998) in his essay on couselling skills. It is in this session that I was able to establish rapport and trust with my client in order to come up with a working and fruitful relationship with him. During this stage I made use of skills like questioning, where I would pose a question directly to my client, sometimes I would choose to just listen to what the client wanted to speak out while in some instances I would be forced to paraphrase the question if I felt the client did not understand the question I had asked previously. There were also other times when I would reflect through silence. During such a period, I got time to study the client and the information he had given. This being a difficult area, since some clients may not be able to volunteer information to you as the counselor, I decided to assure the client of confidentiality of any information he was willing to share with me with a few exceptions which I also told him about. Being open to him about the only times the information may not be confidential was part of my building rapport and establishing trust with him. I therefore, decided to ask the client what information he wanted to share with me and lucky enough he was ready to speak to me about different issues that he was going through.
When a light ray strikes a plane mirror it changes its direction which is known as “reflection”. The light ray, which strikes the mirror, is known as “incident ray” and the ray after reflection is known as “reflected ray”. The perpendicular line which bisects the incident ray and reflected ray is called normal drawn to the point of intersection. The incident ray, reflected and the normal drawn to the point of intersection lie on the same plane. (Fig 1)
3d Animations have amazed me ever since the first toy story came out. I wanted to know how it was made that I got the book Toy Story: The Art and Making of the Animated Film. Reading the book only made me fall more in love with computer graphics and made me thirstier to learn more about this field. I watched every Pixar, double negative and DreamWorks movie, paying close attention to lightning, shadows and all rendering details, wanting to know how they were modelled, lightened, illuminated and rendered behind the scenes. Even though I don’t play video games, I always watched my brothers play games such as call of duty, and Crysis to see the real time rendering. From the first lecture of computer graphics undergrad course, I immediately knew that I wanted a master’s degree in this field to explore this awesome world of computer graphics. Attending more lectures, my fascination for computer imagery grew which made me more certain that I needed this degree to deepen my knowledge. I wish to extend my expertise, broaden my scope, gain more skills, and get exposed to state-of-the-art graphics technologies. I am especially interested in realistic computer generated images, high dynamic range imaging, and global illumination.
This stood out to me for a variety of reasons. Empathizing with the idea that a client may seek feedback and advice from the counselor, I was confused and disagreed that a counselor should refrain from such actions. This initially did not sit with me well because I am a naturally indecisive person and when faced with a difficult decision, I will seek the counsel of others. I appreciate the wisdom, perspective, and insight they have on a situation. It often frustrates me when people will not outrightly tell me what they think I should do or what they would do in my situation.
