HOW TO EXEMPLIFY TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP
Leadership is the tender ability to coerce or influence someone greatly towards a specific goal. It is not about having full power or authority over aides but rather taking the initiative and desiring to serve other people. A true leader desires to serve others, whether overtly or covertly, coaching and motivating a team to achieve an inspiring goal. As George Bernard Shaw stated, “progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” and that is what defines a transformative leader. Transformative leadership is about being open to new ways when the old ways are not working out efficiently.

They set the pace by “walking the talk” for the subordinates to follow. This style of leadership is about “practicing what you preach” to stand out as an ideal role model for followers to imitate.
Transformative leadership is about having and showing natural affection for followers. It is not only about focusing on the vision and goals to be achieved but having and showing natural feelings for those helping in making that goal achievable. It is about being concerned about how the followers are faring and what can be done to help them feel better. They also pursue the interest and passion of their followers, transforming them to suit the goal or vision.
Being inspirational is another way to demonstrate transformative leadership. Transformative leaders motivate, showing belief in themselves and their followers to help them perform at their peak. Transformational leaders exhibit personal and professional qualities that other want to emulate and follow. These leaders advance the mission in combative environments. Transformational leaders propel the growth of the team through communication. Finally, transformational leaders leave a legacy that instills pride, moral, and determination for future success.

Transformational leadership describes a leader moving followers beyond immediate self-interests through idealized influence (charisma), inspiration motivation, intellectual stimulation, or individualized consideration. Transformational leaders are change agents. They influence the mission and objectives to make way for a brighter future for the organization. Followers are motivated to do more than is originally expected because of their feelings of trust and respect for the leader.
Leaders will act as role models to inspire their followers. Besides, the leader will challenge the followers to take a greater ownership of their work. Transformational leaders normally understand follower’s strength and weakness so that the leader will not affect their performance when allocating task for them. Nevertheless, transformational leadership can inspire or motivate followers to achieve a better result compared to originally planned (Mihhailova, 2014).
Transformational leaders are those that we see in the military that have effects on Soldiers lives which guide them in a way to be better Soldiers and leaders. I have seen leaders in the military expire Soldiers to be like them because the way they carry themselves and how they pay attention their Soldiers’ needs and problems. Transformational leaders inspire followers to transcend their own self-interests for the good of the organization and are capable of having a profound and extraordinary effect on their followers (Robbins & Judge, p. 418). I have heard Soldiers say I want him to mentor me because of the great leader he or she is. I also have found my mentor that I follow because of his leadership skills and the way he takes care of Soldiers. Transformational leadership is one of the most popular leadership styles. According to Kendrick (2011), “Transformational leadership involves four factors: 1. idealized influence, 2. inspirational motivation, 3. intellectual stimulation, and 4. individual consideration.” These four factors make transformational leadership have an impact on followers. The goal of transformational leadership is to cause a positive change in individuals, help motivate them, and develop a leader within each individual.
According to (Burns), “transformational leadership can be seen when "leaders and followers make each other to advance to a higher level of moral and motivation." the strength of the vision, transformational leaders are get followers to get their expectations, and motivations to work and achive their goals.
Transformational leadership focuses on what the leader can accomplish instead of his personal characteristics and how his relationship with others. This leader “helps to bring about major, positive changes by moving group members beyond their self-interests and toward the good of the group, organization, or society (Dubrin, 2007, p. 84).
