Business plays a major role in our society. It is a creative and competitive activity that continuously contributes to shaping our society. Business are satisfying the needs and wants of people that can not be satisfy themselves and improve the quality of life of people and create a higher standard in there life style. It is a way for individuals to provide goods and services to consumers, and at the same time, produce a profit for themselves. Businesses are not only provide goods and services for consumers, but also improve the economy and increase jobs for people within society which is an additional fact producing a higher standard of living. Today there are many kind of business all over the world, Which enhances the economical level of people. But Sri Lankans mostly depend on their traditional business, which can be easier for them as they practiced from the past. So that they are well adapted to that system and they are able to compete with other countries too. As Sri Lanka is one of the growing country, nowadays they are using modern techniques in implementing their process in the field of their business they concerned. On that basis i am very much interested in explaining about the paddy cultivation and distribution business, which brings out the major income to srilankans through export as the traditional one. Sri Lanka is very famous for paddy as it has a great history with this harvest which runs for years and years back with great stories. Paddy cultivation in Sri Lanka could be seen many parts of the country as to say as all of the people in Sri Lanka have rice as their main food. The huge part of the production was supplied inside the country in the past with the great direction of the kings who ruled the country, th... ... middle of paper ... ...g devices, computers and global satellite positioning systems to analyze various environmental conditions in order to determine the growth of plants under these conditions and identify problems related to crops and their growing environments. Precision farming helps determine plant development, soil conditions, usage of water and chemicals, fertilizers and seeding. We also want to consider about the environment. This idea also help to controls environmental pollution to a minimum extent by reducing agricultural waste. As the population gradually increase in a great scale scarcity of food arieses and land . So we have to increase cultivation. So I conclude that we want to use modern technologies in our traditional businsses to get more benifit in small area of land and to meet the countries need, and to have easy and quick distribution to all the people of our country.
Agriculture plays an enormous part in having a functioning society. The farming fields in the
As Jensen points out, farming and industry accounts for the vast majority of total water usage in the world (477). The increasingly scarce resource is a necessary ingredient when growing food. Technology continuously improves to make it easier for farmers to grow crops while using less water. Scientists at the University of Georgia utilize what they term “variable rate irrigation” to let farmers automate the current systems of irrigation to water only the crops that need it (Gies). This is an example of retrofitting current farms, but there is a new way of farming coming to cities that reuses practically all of its water and stakes claim much less acreage in the process. The future of agriculture belongs to vertical and urban farming. These types of farms reduce the use of water, chemicals (such as pesticides, herbicides and fungicides), soil and space (The Economist). These farms are so cutting edge that they are mostly in the experimental stages. Firms like Famgro farms are testing “stackable” farming systems that can scale with demand, even further reducing waste. Famgro’s stackable farms are ideal for cityscapes where land is at a premium; furthermore, reaping the added benefit of being in close proximity to the customers that they serve. Customers will enjoy high quality, fresh produce at only a slightly
Businesses exist to produce goods and services. If someone is thinking of starting up their own business or becoming part of an existing business, they would have to have the knowledge of what makes business work successfully and know how to how to apply that knowledge in the particular area of business. For this unit I will be entering and exploring the world of business. For this unit I will encounter and evaluate information provided by certain businesses and actually gather my own information from at least one business. The business I have chosen to study is J Sainsbury’s.
With an ever increasing world population, massive third world hunger, and with an estimation that a child dies for every two seconds world-wide from starvation; this does not even take into account the number of people who are mal and undernourished, there is a great promise in the use of this technology to benefit not only the farmers, but also societies worldwide. We have been able to genetically modify plants so that they may be more resistant to insects, so that there is less pesticidal toxins sprayed. We have designed plants that require less water, less soil nutrients, preserving precious recourses. We have designed plants with higher yield, shorter seasons, plants that need less land to grow; we are said to be living in a time where we have the healthiest, most well-tested plants in the history of this
As a massive provider of consumer goods in India, Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL), is attempting to penetrate the rural markets where there is a massive opportunity for growth. HLL’s current operating sectors are becoming increasingly competitive and crowded. Their best opportunities now lie in developing new markets and rising to the top of that market. They are attempting to do this with a program for developing entrepreneurs, named Shaktis. Met with initial success the program now needs to grow without increasing costs.
By implementing new farming techniques provided with the new technological advances in machines we can see abundant harvest in even the poorest third world countries. For example, the Green Revolution has already showed admirable progress in the northern part of India ever since it took start in 1950. By 1997, northern India increased its grain production by 37 percent. This has proven that traditional farming methods are being rendered obsolete. And because by the year 2000, there will be half the land per person in developing countries as there was in 1970, we need to apply ultra-efficient methods to sustain the growing need. Not only does the Green Revolution enhances food output, it also preserves the environment.
When the farmers went out to plant a field they had no idea after they got done with the border rows if they were planting over what they just planted or, if they were completely missing a whole entire row. With the advancement of today’s technology we have a satellite guidance system known as Greenstar, and also Starfire. These two systems are running off of electrical power from the tractor and are powered by satellite signals around earth. The two tools are very important in today’s technology, the Greenstar is the software and monitor that is inside the tractor cab so you can see what you have planted. The Starfire system is on the outside of the cab, it mounts on the roof in the center of the tractor and sticks out about five inches in front of the cab. This system is what links to satellites and keeps you running a straight line in the field you are in
As proud pioneers, we have successfully established ourselves in the varied business activities primarily including manufacturing and processing of pulses and spices in addition to trading a wide range of food products.
Our first solution is New Delhi, India. India's wheat and rice production can be increased by over 60 percent, sugarcane production by 41 per cent and cotton production by 73 per cent. The best part of this solution is that we don’t have to cut down trees or forests or we don’t even have to increase farm area! Basically, in over 157 countries, including India farms are not producing their capacities. Most importantly, in India, a study found that in wheat, the current yield was 2.49 tonnes per hectare (tph) while it could go up to 3.98 tph if proper fertilizer and water is provided. Similarly, rice yield could increase from 2.88 tph to 4...
A major challenge of doing business internationally is to adapt effectively to different cultures. Steve Kafka, an American of Czech origin and a franchiser for Chicago Style Pizza has decided to expand his business to Czech Republic. This is a risky decision and Steve anticipates he will face obstacles as he goes about setting up the new pizza outlet at this new location, Prague.
Q1. Using the Mabati Rolling Mills Case Study, explain the various sources of funds as discussed by the management of Mabati Rolling Mills. Give the advantage and disadvantage of each source.
The pearl of the Indian Ocean Sri Lanka, reflects a long history of its nations. From the archeological evidence of the prehistoric settlements and prehistoric human Balangoda man (Deraniyagala, 1998) to modern food of kottu like pizza to American; make the broad diversity of culture in Sir Lanka. By analyzing cultural heritage definition in Sinhala language, the definition given in the legislations in 1940, and its relationship with Athens charter and 1954 UNESCO convention, I will demonstrate the cultural heritage vision imbedded in the society through legal definition. Also, I will offer criticisms and recommendations for an improved approach to the definition of cultural heritage in Sri Lanka in broader context.
As agriculture has become more intensive, farmers have become capable of producing higher yields using less labour and less land. Growth of the agriculture has not, however, been an unmixed blessing. It, like every other thing, has its pros and cons. Topsoil depletion, groundwater contamination, the decline of family farms, continued neglect of the living and working conditions for farm labourers, increasing costs of production, and the disintegration of economic and social conditions in rural communities. These are the cons of the new improved agriculture.
The program will supply more modern supplies and methodologies and how to use them to produce the most beneficial results. These machineries will use GPS and precision agriculture techniques so that the farmers will be able to collect precise data about their fields. The program will make sure that the supplies and new equipment brought in has lasting power in Sri Lanka by making the products with tools found on the island, so that if anything breaks down they will still be able to fix it.
Agriculture is one of the most ancient forms of art and science that ties human development and well-being to natural resources and ecosystems. (Fritz J. Häni, 2007) Sustainable Agriculture is the production of food, fibre, plant and animal products using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities and animal welfare. (Sustainable Agriculture - The Basics, 2015) Sustainable agriculture is an integrated system of plant and animal production practices having a site – specific application that over the long term will:
