The society in which we live in today is one that is filled with competition. The entire flow of the business world is based off of the competitive advantage of a company in comparison to another. When you think about a fast-food restaurant for example, you often have a couple choices that come to mind. One day you can say you’re McDonald’s because their dollar menu deal is right in conjunction with your budget. Then, one day you see an advertisement for Burger King saying that there is a special that they are running and now you can afford to go there and eat. What exactly made Burger King run a special? Well in order for a business who is offering the same or similar services as another business to be able to survive, they must compete in terms of doing whatever is necessary to attract more customers. In the world of transportation, we often see so many new cars come into existence that it would be almost impossible to say that we don’t notice the competition between sellers. With competition in mind, there is something that must always be considered by a company in terms of being beneficial to a company, and that is the quality of what they have to offer and sell. The total quality management of a product is one thing that is going to be the determining factor of how well a product sells, and how much revenue a company will bring in because it is the responsibility of everyone involved with a company to help that company flourish.
First and foremost we must know what Total Quality Management is. Total quality management is, and has been defined as a type of approach that is used to improve quality and performance in such a way that it will exceed all expectations of the customer (Murray, 2011). We all know that team work is what makes anything possible so the total quality management process is a direct representation of team work to ultimately bring success.

1. Nowadays, in terms of severe rivalry, UPS company tries to implement the strategy that will be able to guarantee its success and gradual improvement of the quality of company`s products and services. That is why, nowadays the company works in accordance with the main principles of the Total quality approach. There are several main reasons for this choice. The first obvious reason is that being the world`s greatest franchisor of retail shipping and business centers, the company needs constant development and improvement in order to remain competitive and hold leading positions. TQM (Total Quality Management) implies the usage of various means and remedies in order to improve all spheres of activity of the company, which results in significant
Zatzick, Moliterno, and Fang (2012) write that Total Quality Management “TQM primarily focuses on increasing inefficiencies and improving processes, particularly when implemented in manufacturing organizations” (p.1322). Deming (1988) writes that American companies do not work steadily towards process improvement. He feels that management should be consistent with its efforts to improve upon the quality of its products. Beer (2003) views TQM as an ongoing process in order to ensure product excellence. TQM has the ability to change the companies’ culture and work processes. Quality management is a long term process. These changes usually require new initiatives. Deming (1998) explains how the Japanese are at an advantage because they are not beholden to stakeholders. Japanese companies are able to concentrate on their employees. This type of environment encourages trust between workers and management. Beer (2003) feels that TQM involves “multiple stakeholder philosophy that equally values community, customers, and employees (p.624). Team work and collaboration are a big part of the TQM philosophy.
With Product Quality, the responsibilities of a business are simple. Develop a low cost, high quality product that withstands the normal limitations of it’s use. Quality can be defined as doing the right thing, the right way, the first time, and every time. It is important that this is understood from both the consumer and the business perspective. In short, the product will meet customer expectations, priced appropriately, and delivers as advertised. Within the business, producing a product the right way is the most effective, efficient, lowest cost and most valuable way to produce quality results, the first, and every time. Furthermore, product quality implies that all standards are met, with minimal repercussions of poor quality, reducing the amount of rework and waste. As such, businesses who develop products of poor quality are either failing to do the right thing, or doing the right thing, the wrong way.

Thirdly, the threat of new entrants; the higher the competition, the easier for other companies to enter. Next is the threat of substitutes; that is other products with lower prices of improved performance parameters for the same purpose. It reduces potential sales volume for existing players.

“While Total Quality Management has proven to be an effective process for improving organizational functioning, its value can only be assured through a comprehensive and well thought out implementation process” (Packard, 1995). Implementing TQM requires large scale change. Change can be difficult in a culture where patterns have been ingrained. However, the survival of the company is dependent upon the change. Change is not just focused on the customer but also on the entire culture of the organization, its belief systems and decision making processes. Changes done according to a plan are usually successful.
Total Quality Management is a management philosophy driven by customer needs and expectations. TQM focuses on quality and builds a management method based on full employee involvement. Its aim is to achieve long-term successful management through long-term customer
TQM is essential to be used by all the companies especially the manufacturing companies who have the responsibility to ensure about the quality of the product. TQM is being viewed as the boon and it is an approach for improving the quality and customer satisfaction in the long run and also reduces the amount of waste (www.businessknowledgesource.com). There are various components which have to be addressed in implementing the TQM they are Ethics, integrity, training, trust, teamwork, communication and recognition (www.businessknowledgesource.com).
There is increased competition- This is a consequence of capitalism. Increased competition leads to improvement in terms of quality and efficiency of production. It also leads to low prices of products in the market, as producers want to have a larger share of the consumer market. In a capitalistic perspective, businesses that produce high quality products at a low price enjoy a larger market share.
...by using job rotation; job rotation is the assigning of jobs to individuals to a variety of job positions once they have mastered their original job. Another way to help an organization or manager in dealing with quality is by assigning self managed teams. A self-managed team is a group of employees who design their job responsibilities to achieve the self-determined goals and objectives of the team. With these teams the organization may be able to run more smoothly and less pressure will be on the middle manager, or the first-line manager. Finally another way to control quality effectively is by using (TQM) total quality management. Total Quality management is a systematic approach for enhancing products, services, processes, and operational quality control.
To measure HCI you need to imply many influencing factors, which will determine the effectiveness on an emotional level. The effectiveness of HCI can be measured through the usability of a computer system by human. In order for a computer system to be effective the HCI levels must be easy to use especially people with disabilities as if it’s hard to use then the people are not able to perform effectively meaning the system is not good. My design of my interface must have fewer feature, functions and steps.
Quality is a word which has been used for a very long time, lots of books have been written about it, and many of the world scientists have defined it in many different ways. In this research paper, I will emphasis on the Quality Management System, why is it important? What is it used for? What is the importance of having a Quality Management System? Many people think implementing QMS costs a lot and all the benefit is a piece of a paper which say that your company is certified in having QMS so you can only hang this picture or certificate on the wall and tell your smart customer that you have it. In fact, no blames on them, they have not used this system yet, they do not know that this system save a lot and a lot of money for companies. They do not know that this system create a dynamic motion within the companies so everyone know what he/she is doing, everybody understands his/her role, and everyone can feel being an important part of the process then everybody can work towards a clear and unified target. However, having a lot of benefits requires a reasonable cost and in the same time it worth. There are several organization which are concerned and involved in this issue, those organizations have produced a unified standards and those standards have its requirements. The International Standardization Organization which located in Switzerland which have a contribution of 157 countries have produced a standard which is concerned about the QMS.
Even though Total Quality Management (TQM) has been replaced by other quality methodologies in many cases, organizations that have taken the long arduous journey to properly implement TQM benefited from it immensely [1]. While TQM may be perceived by many employees as just another passing fad that will soon fall by the wayside, the environmental conditions that exist within the organization will determine if TQM can be successfully implemented and take root. What is Total Quality Management (TQM)? TQM is a system of continuous improvement of work processes to enhance the organization’s ability to deliver high-quality products or services in a cost-effective manner [2].
