Tortilla Flat I have just completed the classic novel Tortilla Flat by John Stienbeck. I must admit, this book was very boring to read. It's not very long, only about 200 pages, but it seemed like much more. I wasn't too interested in this book. I felt having to read this book was a chore. Although the book has its good moments, I think people looking for an exciting book should stay away from this novel. Tortilla Flat is one heck of a boring book, but it does have an original story. Most of this book revolves around a man named Danny and his friends. Danny and his friends have just got back from war and are looking for someplace to live. Then Danny remembers he has a house that was given to him from a relative. The novel also follows the adventures of the friends. Most are boring stories like helping an old lady or looking for treasure. They also got drunk a lot. And at the end. . . well I won't spoil it, you'll have to go through the pain of reading this book. Most of the characters in the book weren't very interesting, but if I have to choose one character, it would have to be Danny. That's the obvious choice. He's the main character and he's pretty easy to talk about. Danny is not that interesting, it's just that all of the other characters are really boring. One thing that I thought was interesting is how Danny was quite a drinker. He got drunk a lot. And he ended up. . . whoops! Almost slipped you the ending. Anyway, Danny was also the character that gave all of the other characters their shelter. That's the only character in the book I found faintly interesting. The most exciting part of this book was finishing it. Woohoo! Gosh, I felt like I could conquer the world after I completed this book of boredom. I read about some friends getting drunk, going to jail, and burning down houses! Wow (sarcasm)! Seriously, the only part in the book that came close to being a little exciting was the end. But nothing could compare to how I felt when I finished this book. I felt like 5000 pounds were lifted off of my shoulders, I felt like I was reading one word per hour with this book. Now I don't have to worry about that book anymore, thank God. There's no avoiding it, this book was flat out boring. I would definitely not recommend this book to anyone my age, if not anyone at all. this book has to be good if its considered a classic, but it didn't do to well of a job keeping my attention. I found myself reading six pages, maybe more, and not having any recollection of anything that I had just read. All in all, I guess this book might be worth reading for a bibliophile, but for the average Joe, get a book more interesting.
“'Forget books,”' said Rosewater, throwing that particular book under his bed. The hell with 'em. That sounded like an interesting one, said Valencia.” -Slaughter-House Five by Kurt Vonnegut In 1975, the “interesting” books for students of the Island Tree School District were nearly thrown under the bed forever.

... same time a weakness for an advanced reader who is wanting to expand their knowledge of the subject. While it may be a fun book to read I find it unlikely that any future historian would be likely to use it as a reliable source due to its subjectivity and conjecture and the interpreation of a third or fourth generation interpretation make its usefulness questionable.
...Maybe is an extraordinary novel. For middle-aged men and women, the setting of the story would bring back memories of their childhoods and cause feelings of nostalgia, showing that life passes almost too quickly. Honestly, any reader between the ages of 16 to 80 would be able to read this book. The vocabulary is easy, the diction is accurate and the book structure, for the most part, keeps the book flowing smoothly. The characters have a timeless quality to them, causing anybody to be able to relate to at least one or two of them, and each aspect of the book is so realistic that I could have been convinced that the story was based on real life events. This book was beautifully written and so if it was not out of print and unbelievably hard to get a hold of, I would recommend it to anyone in need of a captivating book to read.

The two classic books that I read were very inspiring and interesting. They are both widely known books that have impacted people’s lives and views on various subjects greatly. These two books that are known worldwide are Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Uncle Tom’s Cabin revolves mainly around the aspect of slavery and how slaves were treated unfairly. We learn about how slavery was once lawful in our country, the United States of America, and how our government punished people who helped fugitive slaves escape.
What is a classic? One definition given by the dictionary is: having lasting significance or worth; enduring. When examined closely we can discover what makes the novel unique and memorable. There are many important messages in Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, which make it memorable to the reader. The main message in this novel is about racism, how people around you, not just parents have a strong influence on you when you are growing up, and how rumors and misjudging can make a person look bad. Judging other people without knowledge of the facts is also a common occurrence.

I spent a minimum of half an hour in full pondering about having to choose a book. Not only a book, but the right book. I wanted to take this project as an opportunity to learn something new by reading literature I would enjoy. I did not want

“Terrorism involves the use of violence by an organization other than a national government to cause intimidation or fear among a target audience;” at least, this is how Pape (2003) defines terrorism in his article “The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism” (343). The goal of this article by Pape is to discuss suicide terrorism and how it “follows a strategic logic, one specifically designed to coerce modern liberal democracies to make significant territorial concessions” (343). Similar to Pape, Bloom (2004) and Horowitz (2010) also delve into the exponential increase of suicide terrorism and why it occurs. Although Pape, Bloom, and Horowitz concur that suicide terrorism is increasing, they disagree why it is so prominent. While the arguments presented from each of these researchers is powerful and certainly plausible, suicide terrorism is in fact not irrational, but strategic and is most often caused by state occupation and, when organized, aimed specifically at democracies.
classic, a novel must have one or more qualities that place it above the rest.
First of all, the growth of women in the labor market is possibly due to their relationship or marriage condition such as leaving an abusive relationship, the loss of husband, or single mothers. In the case of abusive relationship, women have the most disadvantages. Their partner emotionally and physically violated them. The Domestic Abuse Center reported, “One out of every three women will be abused at some point in her life”. This is even more than the rate of women getting breast cancer! In order for women to leave the abusive relationship, they essentially will need to enter the labor market so that they can be independent and be able to gain resources through their productivity. Thus, t...
For me, A Man Called Ove was an impulse buy in an airport bookstore after I realized I had forgotten a book and I had a six-hour flight to Seattle ahead of me. If we’re being honest, I bought just based off of the cover. However, once I began reading it I was not particularly interested in the actual book. But, I managed and by the end of the book I had a new appreciation for the book itself as well as the author.
