Torticollis
Overview-
Torticollis is condition in which the neck is tilted backwards and twisted painfully. The head is usually inclined from a side while the chin is turned towards the opposite side. It is also called twisted neck. This situation can be inherited (present at birth). It can also be caused by damage to the muscles of the neck or of the blood supply problems. Sometimes torticollis resolves on its own. However, there exists the possibility of relapse.
Chronic stiff neck can cause debilitating pain and difficulty in performing daily activities. Fortunately, drugs and therapies are available to help relieve pain and stiffness. Sometimes, the condition requires surgery. The treatment has a better chance of success when it starts preparation for use, particularly for children.

Torticollis can be hereditary and can also develop in the womb.
This occurs when the fetal head is in the wrong position. It can also be caused by damage to the muscles of the neck or the neck of the blood supply problems.
Anyone can suffer from torticollis following a muscle injury or nervous system. However, in most cases, the cause of torticollis is unknown. In this case, it is called idiopathic torticollis.
Symptoms-
The symptoms of torticollis may occur slowly and worsen over time. The most common symptoms include:
• inability to move his head in a normal manner
• headache
• neck muscles bulging
• pain or stiffness in the neck
• a shoulder higher than the
other • chin off to one side The face of children with torticollis can appear flat and unbalanced. They may also have delays in motor skills or difficulties with vision and hearing. Diagnosis- The doctor will make the patient's history and will submit to a physical examination. Inform your doctor of any injury sustained in the neck area. To determine the cause of torticollis, they may be used various types of tests. An Electromyogram (EMG) detects electrical activity in muscles. It can determine which muscles are affected. Although imaging tests such as x-rays and MRI can be used to detect structural problems that could be causing the symptoms. Treatment- At the moment, there is no way to prevent a stiff neck; however, early treatment can prevent worsening. Congenital forms of torticollis can improve with the stretching of the neck muscles. This treatment can be very successful, if it has started within a few months of birth. If this or other treatments are not successful, surgery can sometimes resolve the issue. Torticollis acquired is treated according to the causes, if known. The treatment for torticollis includes: • application of warm compresses • massages • physiotherapy • tractions • stretching exercises • collars The types of surgery include: • abnormal fusion of vertebrae • elongation of the neck muscles • severing of nerves or muscles • deep brain stimulation to disrupt the nerve signals, used only in the rarest cases of cervical dystonia Medications include: • muscle relaxants • drugs used to treat the tremors of Parkinson's disease • Botulinum toxin (repeated injections every few months away) • pain medications Prevention- • Try not to hold the phone between your ear and shoulder. • Rebalanced the base of the neck. • Place the desk, chair and computer so that the screen is at eye level. • Take frequent breaks if you have to drive for a long time or working long at the computer.
Pain behind the ear on the affected side of the face which may occur a day or two before the paralysis begins.
The signs and symptoms are pressure, stiffness, pain in the chest or/ and arms that may advanced to the neck, jaw, or back
following back pain (Chapman-Smith, 71). Treatment for head and neck pain are similar to back treatments in that they both undergo a sequence of mechanical and neurological effects (Chapman-Smith, 72).
It is caused by damaged nerves. It generally, causes a weakness or numbness but can
Shoulder and neck pain are the most common musculoskeletal disorders one can get. Right sided neck and shoulder pain is one that the assistant is highly prone to developing, and is difficult to avoid. Reason being is frequent reaching across the assistant’s mid-line with the right arm. Neck pain can also be caused by leaning forward with your head bent down for a long period of time.
Scoliosis is found and diagnosed in many ways. Some ways it is found is looking at medical history, having physical examinations, and X-rays. Most cases are unknown, or caused by already diagnosed medical conditions like cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Also another kind is idiopathic scoliosis. Idiopathic scoliosis is also unknown why people get it. Medical
“The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease” by Thomas A. Edison. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments on the spine which will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. Chiropractic care began in 1895 when its founder, Daniel David Palmer, claimed any and all diseases could be healed by nothing more than just his hands. Dr. Palmer examined a janitor who was deaf for 17 years after the janitor felt his back was out of place, so Dr. Palmer gave an adjustment to what was felt to be a misplaced vertebra in the upper back. The janitor then observed that his hearing improved thanks to Dr. Palmer. Chiropractors use manipulation to restore mobility to joints restricted by tissue injury caused by sitting without proper back support. Chiropractic is primarily used as a pain relief alternative for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue, such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. About 22 million Americans visit chiropractors annually
(Wardwell 154). Chiropractors must complete many demanding courses that require time and patience. One of the basic reasons that people doubt chiropractic care is that they do not truly understand the practice. A large controversial topic around chiropractic is the causation of strokes that supposedly come from neck manipulations, better known as neck adjustments.
.... Tetralogy of Fallot occurs during fetal growth when the baby’s heart is developing. In most cases the cause of this disease is unknown.
This narrowing was necessary for locomotion, but it increased the difficulty of childbirth for women. In other primates, birth is relatively easy. Babies come through a straight birth canal and are born facing their mothers. The mother can pull the baby out during birth without causing injury to spine of the baby. The human female pelvis is now smaller and babies are forced to be born facing away from the mother. Assistance is needed during birth to prevent injury to the baby's spine. The birth canal is curved and there is barely enough room for the passing of the head and shoulders.
head result in a variety of results such as caved in faces, heads split in half,
Scoliosis is a disease that attacks the muscles and ligaments of the spinal column, causing a sideways twisting and rotation of the spine, ribs, and pelvis. Its is a C-shaped or S-shaped curvature of the spine. An S-shaped curve is created when a secondary curve counterbalances primary abnormal curve. It severely impairs the bodies neurological, hormonal, and nutritional systems.
Head sparing is the biological protection of the brain when malnutrition affects body growth. The brain is the last part of the body to be damages by malnutrition. In this situation the fetus redistributes its oxygen supply to the brain by vasodilation of the cerebral arteries. The fetus does this during chronic fetal hypoxemia. The demised amount of oxygen the fetus receives can happen due to placenta infraction, maternal smoking, or other. A placenta infraction occurs when the blood flow between placenta and baby is for some reason disturbed. Although a placenta infraction is common within pregnancy and often wont drastically affect the baby it can reduce the amount of oxygen the baby receives. This is why Head sparing is important to the growth process of the neonate, a newborn. The time when a fetus tansitions to neonate it crucial. In
Vesicular stomatitis is a disease that affects horses and other livestock. The disease can be spread by direct contact with infected animals that have signs of the disease such as those with sores or by blood-sucking insects. In the southwestern US, black flies are the main spread of it. Where this disease is familiar, sand flies are also known to spread it.This virus can spread to humans when they are treating affected animals but this rarely happens, and may cause flu-like diseases.
