I chose this quote because I found it to be so ironic. Although it is a children’s book this is very relatable and also a good lesson. Toad is very upset when he loses his list of what he has to do for the day, but, when Frog suggests that they try and go after it Toad says they can’t because it wasn’t one of his “to do’s”. In life, many time we keep ourselves from doing something because it isn’t on “our list” or it’s out of our comfort zone. Like Toad, we sometimes get so caught up in sticking to a schedule that we kind of forget to just have fun and relax. ““I cannot remember any of the things that were on my list of things to do. I will just have to sit here and do nothing,” said Toad. “Toad sat and did nothing. Frog sat with him.” Although
McMurphy from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest and Luke from Cool hand Luke. Are both men that are similar to each other and that both can be used as examples of someone being a christ figure. The two of them in there own way we're able to be leaders of there peers and to have the trust from them, and to do it in a non violent way. Luke and McMurphy both get there men to stand up against the Boss and Big Nurse to do what is good for them. They both died while suffering. Just like Christ did.
Ken Kesey incorporates figurative language into his novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, to illustrate the struggle to overcome the comfort of inaction, that ultimately results in the great benefit of standing up for one’s self. When McMurphy decides to stand up to Nurse Ratched, there is “no fog” (130). Kesey’s metaphor of the fog represents the haze of inaction that hovers over the patients of the ward. With the oppressive Nurse Ratched in charge, the patients are not able to stand up for themselves and are forced to be “sly” to avoid her vicious punishments (166). When the patients avoid confrontation with the Nurse, they are guaranteed safety by hiding in the fog, complaisant with their standing. The fog obscures the patient’s view of the ward and the farther they slip into it, the farther away they drift from reality.
The thought of the day that I found interesting was “worry is a futile thing, it’s somewhat like a rocking chair. Although it keeps you occupied, it doesn’t get you anywhere” -Anonymous. This quote means that there is no point in worrying because you can’t succeed and move forward, if you worry all the time. This quote relates to the song “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts because the lyrics “I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads you to where you want to go.” show that stress and worrying is bad and you should try to find ways to avoid it. An event from my life that the quote and lyrics show a connection is when I had a technology project in the 6th grade where we had to build wind powered cars. When the teacher

“The unexamined life is not worth living” and “Life is about the journey, not the destination.” I relate to both of this quotes because we all have purpose in our life. We plan out life to be certain way. I plan week in advance so I know what is going to happen this week, what is in plate that I have to take care of it before the time. You need to be control on your life not others. Some people just float though life. They think of their present but they don’t think for their future. They just do the stuff right now and later they will worry about other stuff. They are never ready for future outcome. Only you know how you want to live your life, it’s up to you how you want live it. As I say I plan week ahead for my classes, my work and my family. But it doesn’t always go as it planned. In life you always have to be ready to face some problem. If you live through the problems that is call living life. My dad always tells me that, if you accept the challenge, or face some bad time with smile on face, you will always come out of there and then even the big problems comes you will be ready for it. Don’t ever get nervous for the small problems. Life is made of good time and bad
“Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.” – James Baldwin
Rabbit's life is the perfect model for a case study on how not to live. Anything appealing that entered his mind, he did it. Rabbit cheated on his wife, ignored his mother, was unaffected when his wife left him, took up with an eighteen year old girl when he was well into his thirties and did not attempt to hide any of it from his twelve year old son, Nelson. Rather than getting tough when times were hard, Rabbit ran. He ran from a pregnant wife, Janice, from Nelson who was then twelve, from employment, from his parents, from everything. Rabbit practiced the opposite of perseverance. When life wasn't going well, Rabbit simply moved on to something else.
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” Winnie the Pooh once said. In the book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the men that live in the Oregon Mental Institution do not hear words like these very often. They have been rejected from society because they are not classified to meet the “social norm”. These “outcast” hide away behind the white walls of the ward, protecting themselves from the world around them. In the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, author Ken Kesey uses religious allusions to depict that society rejects people that do not fit the ideal social “norm”, but when someone can prove himself powerful enough to stand up for his beliefs men easily follow.
'A child's mind is a blank book. During the first years of his life, much will be written on the pages. The quality of that writing will affect his life profoundly.‘
I learned to explore different genres. From this book, I learned not to judge people by other people’s opinion about them. When I saw this book on the list, I was skeptical about reading it because I thought it would be a boring book. Shortly after, I saw a movie based on the book, and found the movie actually entertaining. I thought that if the movie could be that funny, the book could also be funny. This book is a fantastic read and a classic piece of English literature. The dialogue is very entertaining, and I got a good laugh from it. I would definitely recommend this book to other people who enjoy comedies, as it is funny and a very interesting read.
But many times you are on ‘parent mode’ trying to protect your child and at the same time, trying to instill the right behavior to your child that you often forget to see the unexpected lessons you could learn from your toddler. Life lessons we grapple to pass on to our kin like patience, living in the moment and humility don’t have to be instructions you acquire from self-help books or inspirational quotes but they can be learned from a source closer to your heart, your little one.
He then blames adults for the boring way in which they present the real world to the kids. He claims that this is the primary reason for their escape to the game-world. Adults “train” kids to view learning as boring. “We often forget that the purpose of education, first and foremost, is to make the life world more engaging, to make it more magical”, he clarifies. “Inferiority complex” is the point by which he concludes his argument. He believes that adults reject anything new, including technology, because it underscores their limited understanding of the modern world, which leads to losing their authority. “To present the world to our children in this game-like way, we’d have to let go of our adult egos”, he
to teach himself as much as he can, for he has only little time to
Watch your thoughts, they become your words; Watch your words; they become your actions; Watch your actions; they become your habits; Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
"The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as every child should be instilled with the wish to learn."
