It was said to be the 'unsinkable ship', it was indestructible and made to push through the rough, icy waters of the sea without struggle, all while carrying thousands inside. I should have known then that it was bound to end horribly, you can't build one ship up to be the one thing that nature cannot compete with and then expect things to go over smoothly. No matter how large and 'indestructible' that ship may be, mother nature will always win, and she can be the cruelest of deities. I could see the crew up on the deck from where I stood on the ground, all pacing around, serious and nervous expressions etched onto their faces, which could easily be mistaken for their nervousness for the ship's take off, but something about the way they were all whispering to each other made me think otherwise, it was as if they knew something that we would never know. The whispers and nervous expressions of the crew weren't the only signs, but they should have been the only ones I needed. A large dark spot was spread across the front side of the ship, standing out against the rest of the steel from the significant change in color, it was odd, almost as if someone had held a flame to the side of the ship and allowed the steel to darken. Despite the warning signs, I still got on the ship, glued to my mother's side as we greeted the other first class members, many much wealthier than us and all completely unaware of the panic I was feeling because of the danger I was sure would come creeping around the corner at any second.
