If you think Thomas isn’t the most important or interesting character in the Maze Runner, you must be crazy. Thomas is clearly different from the others Gladers in the beginning, however we learn about this later in the book. In this chapter I will cover interesting things about Thomas. First, in the introduction, It says, “He began his new life standing up.” This makes it sound like Thomas was born a new when he entered the maze, which is kind of true because Thomas has no memories of his past life. Thomas has no clue what has happened, where he is or what his name is. Thomas just thinks Thomas and continues to live as if his name is Thomas. These are the first interesting ideas that we are exposed to in the introduction of the Maze Runner. …show more content…
Next, I think that Thomas in the perfect build for a Runner.
First he is athletic. The book acknowledges this when Thomas notices that he is in almost perfect shape and has plenty of endurance. Also Thomas is just simply faster than most of the Gladers. He is also taller and stronger than some. Second, Thomas is smarter. The book says Thomas’s mind functions without flaw. He could remember thoughts, facts and images. This means that Thomas’s brain is very good and his memory isn’t completely gone. This helps Thomas because in the Glade it isn’t just survival of the fittest but survival of the smartest. I think this gives Thomas an edge early in the book and without it both his brain and body solving the maze would be impossible. On top of Thomas being stronger and smarter, he has one more advantage in the maze. MEMORY. In the book Thomas feels as if he has been in the maze multiple times before. When he is out with Minho or Newt he has an easy time remembering where he has been and where he is going. The reason he remembers is because (spoiler alert), he constructed the maze. This gives Thomas an advantage over someone like chuck who is scared and never been in the maze. Thomas isn’t scared of the maze just curious how and why it got there, little did Thomas know that he put it …show more content…
there. In conclusion Thomas has plenty of advantages when it comes to being in the maze like his strength, speed and memory. These help Thomas solve an impossible maze and make Thomas and interesting character. Can Thomas actually find a cure for the Flare? This is an interesting question that isn’t exactly explained. Obviously Thomas is different from the other Galders but the book might hint at Thomas finding a cure. At the end of the book a crank tackles Thomas before he enters the bus. First the crank is talking directly to Thomas, not every Glader. I questioned why the author put this part in the book. Next, the crank says, “Gonna save us from the Flare”. Now it might just be the Flare talking but the crank seems to know or heard of Thomas. I think Thomas is immune to the Flare. That is why the author put this scene in the book. I think this scene hints incredibly at the possibility of a sequel. Now if you didn’t know Thomas means twin in Aramaic.
I think (and yes I know this is a stretch) that Thomas could possibly be Teresa’s twin brother. The connection between Thomas and Teresa is almost unexplainable but I think that this is the solution. In the book Thomas immediately has a connection to Teresa as soon as she comes from the box. Thomas also feels like he has seen her before. Them being twins suggests that they lived in the same house so Thomas has seen her before. But one could argue those reasons but they can’t deny the fact that Thomas and Teresa share telepathic powers. This makes a strong reason for Thomas and Teresa having the same last name. I mean how many books have 2 random people share telepathic powers for no reason and if they aren’t close. In conclusion I think Thomas and Teresa are twins and call me crazy but I guess we'll never know because of their memories/
brainwash. In conclusion I think Thomas is the most essential character in WICKED’s plan. Without his advantages the Gladers would have struggled greatly and maybe never escape the maze. Maybe just maybe Thomas can save the world from the Flare.
In The Maze Runner, Thomas recalls nothing of his life except for his name. He finds himself surrounded by a bunch of boys. Like all the other Gladers, Thomas appears in the Glade terrified and disoriented. However, he senses a powerful bond to the Maze. He quickly exhibits courage and confidence when he saves Alby and Minho from the Grievers after they had to spend the night in the Maze.
First, he looked at the drawn maps of the maze and it didn't take him long to figure out how to solve the maze and how to do it. “We need wax paper and scissors”(from chapter 15) is what Thomas said to his friends, as if he didn't want to loose this sudden train of thought . Another example of Thomas's unknown intellect was when he intentionally threw himself into a griever to go threw the changing to get some of his memorise to see if he would remember anything that would be helpful for him and his friends. This all proves that Thomas knew what he was doing and how to do
Now Thomas from The Maze Runner has to keep moving he doesn’t look back he has to keep on moving forward (or backwards, wherever the maze takes him). Besides Chuck (which was probably his best friend at the time) he left them for
Chuck’s special bond with Thomas flourished and began when he became Thomas’s first friend at the Glade. Chuck is more welcoming and fond of Thomas than the other boys seeing that he reassures Thomas constantly: “Don’t
Through connecting with his former best friend, Victor was able travel to Phoenix to reclaim his father’s ashes and belongings. During the trip we see Thomas and Victor reminisce about their former days as friends, and although at the end they both agreed that they could not be friends, they gained a deeper understanding of each other. Even though Victor could not say it, deep down, he knew that his best friend was in fact Thomas.
Anyone as brave as Thomas does not sit back and relax to watch one of his injured friends from being trapped outside as it is about to hit night time. An injured person outside of their safe haven almost equals imminent death. Thomas instinctively ran to his injured comrade in order to save him, to only find out that he himself is also trapped outside of the Glades. "For several seconds, Thomas felt like the world had frozen in place. A thick silence followed the thunderous rumble of the Door closing, and a ...
“See the World” by Gomez is a song well suited to the challenges faced by the main character, Thomas, in The Maze Runner by James Dashner. Thomas wakes up in an unfamiliar world known as the Glade, “empty handed, surrounded by a senseless scene”, as the song states, together with other boys who have lived there for the past two years. Without any memory of their previous lives but their names, the boys are stuck trying to figure out how to get out of the Maze without being killed by Grievers, mechanical monsters that roam the Maze each day. Being the newbie in the Glade, Thomas is tormented by other Gladers, mainly another boy named Gally. This part of the book relates to the third sentence in the song, “‘Cos now you’re trying to pick a fight
The reasoning Thomas does is really effective he sorta minipulates them and gets it done its way and no other way.
I believe Thomas did a subpar job of executing logos, ethos, and pathos in his “This I Believe” essay. The essay had its strong moments especially in how easily the audience could relate to Thomas’s belief; even with this being so, the essay lacked depth in many areas which caused the essay to have a too simplistic and dull feel to it. This same belief Thomas holds and believes in so strongly has been the cause of great history changing wars and for millions of people to leave their homes and lives behind all for a single belief. Overall Thomas’s belief is incredibly rooted in to his very being causing the person he is today because of this I believe he will hold this belief for most if not all his life however the manner in which he wrote about his belief, unfortunately, was not as strong as the belief itself.
...han others and when the man holding the flag fell he ran to the rescue and was brave enough to keep moving forward. Thomas had the great honor of becoming Corporal. No one could have ever predicted that was to happen earlier in the movie because he was one of the weakest and slowest he had the hardest time in the camp because he used to live like a white educated man but in the end he proved to be a good fighter and became a Corporal. Camp helped Thomas tremendously making him the most changed and bravest man in the fifty-fourth regiment.
Hey you, Yeah… YOU! Would you want to live in a society where you live in a box for your entire life, and mean absolutely nothing to the just about anyone? For science right? NOPE! Obviously, Societies fall as a result of a corrupt government, Failing Social Structure, and Sickness. It is due to these factors that many great societies such as Greece, Rome, and the society depicted in the book Maze Runner fall.
In conclusion Thomas is portrayed as a heroic, caring and compassionate character. Thomas proves he is heroic when he risked his life to save both Minho and Alby. He also proves to be caring when it comes to his young friend, Chuck, by acting as a brotherly figure. Minho is portrayed as a brave and intelligent character throughout the novel. Minho can be seen as intelligent when he deceived the entire council of Gladers into agreeing to make Thomas a runner. He is also perceived as a brave character when he ran toward the cluster of grievers, risking his life so he can figure out where their camp is.
When Thomas awakes the next morning it takes him a little until he is fully conscious and remembers that he had to complete his plan by taking the trunk to the station. Before Thomas could finish packing up his clothes
The movie I chose to watch and analyze for this exam is a movie called Odd Thomas. This movie is an odd movie to choose, but it follows the pattern of the hero’s journey in odd way. Odd Thomas is about a man from California who is named Odd Thomas; he has this strange ability to see dead people. However, he is just a part-time cook at a little diner. He uses this gift that he has, as a super hero would consider an “undercover detective,” to help the police solve heinous crimes that were committed by bad people. Life seems to be going well until what is referred to as bodachs enter the diner where Odd works at. These creatures are a sign of destruction or something horrible is going to happen. Then out of nowhere a strange guy who Odd and his girlfriend Stormy say look like “fungus” enters and the bodachs take a very high interest in this guy. Odd knows there is something that is not right about this guy and he investigates, not knowing his world is about to change.
