In English 112, I completed many unique assignments; nonetheless, in this letter I would like to discuss the media project and my experiences with completing this project. First, in English 112, I completed a literary analysis paper on Siddhartha, an annotated bibliography on genetic engineering, and a theory response paper on the labeling theory. Each of these papers were intriguing and required me to write in different disciplines. However, I chose the theory response paper for my media project. I found the theory response paper more interesting and informative than the other papers I wrote. Due to the audience and requirements for each assignment, the theory response required me to thoroughly explain and discuss a theory. This paper included …show more content…
For this project, I chose to reinvent my theory response essay through Emaze. The main reasons why I chose my theory response essay for my media project were because of my grade and the contents of the paper. Since this project gave us the chance to improve our paper grade, I knew the theory response paper was the best choice. Subsequently, when creating my Emaze, I did not further research my topic. Instead, I looked at the feedback and comments given to improve my paper, and to ensure that my media project was sufficient with useful information. In addition, my theory response paper contained a lot of information that was easy to synthesize into my Emaze. Furthermore, judging by both my final products, I feel my theory response paper better represented the information. Through my theory response paper, I was allowed to be more informative than in my media project because of the presentation time constraints. My media project provides my audience with a summary of my paper, focusing on the most important information: the definition, background information, researcher’s findings, and my findings. Essentially, I believe both my theory response and media project showcased chief details; however, my theory response paper would be accommodating for those seeking for thorough information, while my media …show more content…
I used the site Emaze to create my presentation due to the effects and the unique twist on an ordinary PowerPoint. Using the cite Emaze made me the most proud because the site is not simple to use, and it took a considerable amount of time to format the information into my liking. This concludes that I was dedicated to creating a pleasant presentation that was both enjoyable and informative. Likewise, I am proud that I utilized voice demo to speak through my presentation, so my audience would not have to read my Emaze. I wished my voice memos would have turned out differently. If I had more time to complete the project, I would better articulate my voice and speak clearer. Additionally, I would have included more detail in my media project. Lastly, by completing this project, I learned that I am a tedious creator, meaning that I want everything to be perfect. Creating this project through a platform I am not familiar with made me aware that not every aspect of my product has to be perfect, and the imperfections of my media project contributes to its
In English 1102, I was exposed to a variety of different genres, including, argumentative research paper, an annotated bibliography, an analytical paper, and a workplace specific piece. Entering this class the majority of papers I had written were all analytical, and in this class we went above and beyond the basic 5 paragraph essay. Though each paper had a different genre and style, I learned that each project was similar in composition.
English 122 has been a challenging class for me to learn about my writing and researching techniques. This essay is about how the assignments help me with my writing and which assignments are challenging for me.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse discusses the many paths of teaching that relate to Hinduism that Siddhartha followed on his journey through life and how each path helped him realize what he wanted with his life. Siddhartha follows many teachings or paths in which to reach his spiritual destination, which at the beginning was to reach Nirvana.
In Herman Hesse's Siddhartha, Unity is a reflecting theme of this novel and in life. Unity is "the state of being one or a unit; harmony, agreement in feelings or ideas or aims, etc." Unity is first introduced by means of the river and by the mystical word "Om." Direct commentary from Siddhartha and the narrator also introduces the theme.
"On the great journey of life, if a man cannot find one who is better or at least as good as himself, let him journey joyfully alone." The story of Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse makes this point true. The main character Siddhartha dealt with the Samanas and Gotama Buddha, the second with Kamala and then the ferryman. The three parts correspond to the three stages though which Siddhartha passes on his journey to enlightenment: The stage of the mind; the stage of the flesh; the stage of transcendence.

In Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha and his friend, Govinda, leave their sheltered lives as Brahmins, Hindu priests, to be Samanas, ascetics who deny themselves all pleasure. Some years after, they meet the Buddha, whom Govinda stays with to be a monk while Siddhartha leaves to continue on his own adventures. Toward the end of their lives, they meet again at a river bank and discover if they have truly achieved inner peace. Hesse uses Govinda as a contrast to Siddhartha. As displayed in excursions with the Samanas, with the Buddha, and on other adventures, Siddhartha is a character who is more independent and must learn on his own while Govinda is more dependent and feels he must be taught.
Siddhartha, written by Herman Hesse, is a novel about a man's progression towards his goal to center his life with a combination of peace and balance. Many of the displayed philosophies can be applied to today's world. Through my reading, I noticed many similarities between my life and Siddhartha's. First, Siddhartha felt a need for independence, that to truly be happy with his success, he must attain his achievements in his own way, and not others. Even though, he feels he must acquire this by himself, he tries to be as removed from his human side as possible. Only later does he learn that individuality and freedom from necessity must be united to procure his objectives and free him from his imperfections. Second, Siddhartha discovers that things and riches do not bring happiness. They are only temporary. No matter the extent of wealth a person has this never satisfies the insatiable need for possessions. Lastly, Siddhartha found that balance is the key to peace and happiness. Although a simplistic teaching, it is very complex to learn and apply. In my life, I can relate to his path and lessons, because I feel the same struggles and battles with attaining serenity.
There are three major objectives of media research: (1) obtain knowledge about the educational or instructional effectiveness of a chosen medium; (2) increase understanding of how media and technology function and what psychological effects they have on a learner; (3) improve the practice of education through the provision and evaluation of better materials, media, procedures and technologies (Salomon, Clark 1-2).
In the book Siddhartha, Siddhartha has multiple lifestyle changes. He goes from being a Brahmin to a Samana to a ferryman. When he is a Brahmin and a Samana, he doesn't feel like that is the lifestyle for him, until he becomes the ferryman and listens to the river. Siddhartha follows the Eightfold Path, which is the path to nirvana. I believe that if I were to follow the Eightfold Path, that I would follow closer the path of Right Mindfulness. Right mindfulness is the act of being aware of what is happening at the moment, not being absent minded and absorbing all that that moment has to offer. In the book Siddhartha, Siddhartha follows the Eightfold Path and I believe that I follow closer to the Right Mindfulness aspect because we both

...ing an exceptional paper and I am proud of my finish product. Upon completing this assignment, I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about informing my readers of a topic that I knew very little about. After retrieving credible information, the apprehensive that I first experience has completely transformed into utter fulfillment.
In the end this assignment was one that was not only eye-opening, but also one that had some personal fulfillment was well. I was able to truly access my own personal usage and see not only how it compared to others but also show me that I needed to really think and question myself about if I truly need to use Media as much as I currently do. Along with this the Media silent day also showed me that we don 't need to be connected with the media for our lives to function normally and that in fact we as humans can be much more productive without it, something that I was able to experience first hand over these 5 days. What I learned about my media consumption I know I will carry with me not only throughout this year but hopefully my entire life as well.
Illustrate your answer with the close but brief examination of two media theories or two theories of communication; and two philosophies of media and communication.
