Theodore Maiman Have you ever wondered who invented the laser? There is one man responsible for this great feat, and his name is Theodore Maiman. Theodore Harold Maiman was born on July 11, 1927, in Los Angeles, California. Soon after Maiman was born, his father, Abe, got a job offer as an electronics engineer in Colorado. As a boy, “Ted” was curious, creative and adventuresome. As and inventor, his father, Abe, introduced him to the world of technology at an early age. His father had a great impact on Maiman’s fute and his career. His father always kept a small electronics laboratory wherever the family lived. His prior knowledge with electronics allowed him to fix everything that came into the shop. At age 17, after graduating high school, he got a junior engineer job at the National Union Radio Company in Nutley, New Jersey. During that time, he passed the test to earn his first class commercial radiotelephone license, as the youngest person in the U.S. to hold it. Also that year, Maiman enlisted in the U.S. Navy, He was accepted into the radar communications training, which further strengthened his electronics knowledge. After finishing his career in the Navy, Maiman attended the University of Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics. His graduate studies were at Stanford University (M.S. in electrical engineering, and PhD in physics). In January 1956, Maiman worked at Hughes Atomic Physics Department, in Culver City, California. There, he headed the ruby maser project for the U.S. Army Signal Corps. he dramatically improved the performance and design of the maser (reducing its weight from the original weight of 5000 pounds, down to only 25

Art has been the reflection, interpretation and representation of artists' beliefs and morals eternally. Various artists stand for different matters that quite possibly affect their lives, or might be of an interest to them. Norval Morrisseau is an artist that I was intrigued by his portrayal and the techniques used in his paintings. In this paper, we are going to look at the implementation of Morrisseau's painting style used to expose his philosophies of different aspects in his life.
In 1946 graduated from high school as a Valedictorian and joined the U.S. Army. He trained in engineering school at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served 18 months in occupational forces in Japan.
The Holocaust has become the worst event in human history but why did it happen? Mein Kampf was written by who many would consider one of the evilest men to walk the earth; a man whose ideas committed one of the worst crimes in all of the man kinds history on this earth. Due to the controversy, Ontario schools are debating whether or not to change their names. As Macdonald was a part of some offensive events in his lifetime (towards Indigenous groups), there is some controversy that has started. These events had to do with the discrimination that was shown against indigenous people. However, even though he had offensive ideologies, there were many positive

Maus is a graphic memoir by Art Spiegelman, about a father, Vladek, survivor of the Holocaust and a son, Arty, who wants to know what was it like living during the Holocaust era. During the holocaust years, Vladek was advised by a rabbi that his tattooed number will bring him luck. Throughout the story, he continues to personify the luck his number represents by being persistent and hardworking. Despite suffering starvation, thirst, and not feeling well, Vladek continues to remain humble by helping his fellow inmates. Many years passed after the war ended, Vladek was portrayed as this conservative man, but there was a reason behind that mask. Vladek did not want people to step over him like he was stepped on before; he wanted to teach Arty

Joshua Rothman, once presented a paper in academic circles, that although was generally well received, was criticized for not having the style of an academic paper. This article outlines concerns that surround professoriate’s unique style of writing not judged by ordinary standards – “It’s supposed to be dry but also clever; faceless but also persuasive; clear but also completist.” (Rothman). Academics tend to exclusively appeal to “very small groups of people such as departmental colleagues, journal and book editors, tenure committees”(Rothman) as opposed to journalists who appeal to greater audiences.

There are three main perspectives of metaphysics in philosophy, which “examine the nature of reality”, defined in Friedenberg and Silverman (2015). This studies the issue of mind-body, asking questions, such as, “What is the mind? Is it physical? Does the body necessarily need a mind?” As well as “What is consciousness? Does it exist in everything? “The mind-body problem addresses how physiological or mental properties are related to physical properties”.
Most people don't know where the idea of the laser came from. The idea for the laser came from a machine called a maser. The maser was a tool that was able to strengthen, or amplify radio and light waves. The first laser was made in California in 1960. It was built by Theodore Maiman along with a group of American scientists. The material they used for a concentrator was a man- made ruby. This was done by, coiling a simple flash tube around a rod, and beaming powerful flashes of light at it. The result was pulses of red laser light. Once they made the device they had to name it. They had think of some word or words to described it. They came up with Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Using the first letter of each main word they named it laser. The laser had everyone excited.
